- In this PART 2 video, John Adams, owner of Modern Design Aquascaping Inc., SHOWCASES the team building a pondless waterfall that is over three feet high in a flat back yard. While dealing with a ridiculous amount of rain, the guys have to haul 30 yards of soil and a truck load of boulders (some weighing over a ton) to the back of this home in Maryville Tennessee. In this episode, you will see the berm and retaining wall installation, waterfall construction, and IN THE END WE HAVE AWESOME NIGHT-TIME FOOTAGE OF THE WATERFALL WITH COMPLETED LANDSCAPE and testimonial from the clients about the experience of working with the team from Modern Design Aquascaping Inc. LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THE COMPLETED JOB!!

Great Video Johnny!
See you sppn señor🤘🏻
great lower falls stone john...they are the gems we search for to make these features come alive!!
True story, it is hard to make an amazing waterfall with not-so-amazing stones!
Another great video, yes you guys are crazy just like the time lapse, welcome Nick and love your hat. Thanks for sharing
Yep, Nick’s finally in a video and that was his first hat made from a spillway box and a scrap of underlayment😂
@@KoiAddiction Definitely going to keep that hat trick in mind. I was wondering if it was a rite-of-passage, thinking maybe you had duct taped it to his head! Haha. Enjoying the videos. Pondbuilder here in Louisville KY. Nice work.
Whoa! That thing turned out amazing!
I like the feature, should re-visit it now, it is really nice with all the ;landscaping growing in! Take it easy :)
@@KoiAddiction I didnt look to see when you shot that. It didnt seem that long ago, but I have downloaded the Facebook app on my TV so I can see it better than on my 2x6" phone screen. The downside is that it doesn't give me (I don't think) the same info as on the phone does.
It was a year ago-ish. We completed and then some other guys came in and landscaped it.
Awesome.....great job
Thanks for following us on RUclips guys we really appreciate it!
Looking promising. Can’t wait 👍
It turned out beautiful!
It sure did 😍
Way bigger project than what I am attempting. Still helpful. Thank you
It can still be used in a “smaller way” 😎 Thanks for watching🙏🏻
looks great !
Thanks Ramon!
! And I absolutely love the music vibe 😎😎😎😎
We made that soundtrack just for you PondMom!
Awesome Finish project ! Nailed it! A lot of nice character to those Rocks
We do have beautiful stones in East Tennessee😎
Great video John and crew!
Thanks we appreciate your support that’s why it took me two years to answer your comment :-)lol, just randomly popped up in my feed and I couldn’t help but answer you :-)
Spot on excellent work, beautiful 🍻
My boys are artists, they are doing the features without me for the most part these days. I still get my hands dirty sometimes but spend a lot of time in the studio these days editing and making educational stuff. Thanks for hanging out with us👍😎
Awesome job!
What an incredible video!!! The feature is great too😎
You just like it because you’re in it🤓
Nice job!
Thanks sir, hope you’re well & Ill see you at Pondo😎
I have no insight of how these projects are going to look. I’m always impressed by you guys (and of course Mark) and anyone who has the vision of what will look good. Lovely compliments from the homeowners too. The lights look great. Fantastic job! Love the video it was well worth waiting for!
You know how to make someone smile Charlotte🤠
This may be one of your best videos yet! I absolutely love all the different views on it and the way you explain how you make something flat into something natural and beautiful looking. I swear it looks like a chunk of the Smoky Mountains in their backyard 🐸
instaBlaster...
I know right! And what the heck does “instablaster” mean??
@@KoiAddiction Not sure lol! I myself I’ve never seen an Insta blaster but I’m pretty sure you were close to one in North Dakota😎
Excellent waterfall and awesome video. Actually learned a few nuanced tricks here. Guna implement them on my next build. Thanks guys!
Thanks for watching!
awesome time out there and an awesome video to top it off! You go pop!
Love ya dog😎
perfect job! inspirering!
Thanks man, it means so much when you guys communicate with us out here in cyberspace!
@@KoiAddiction yes. used to watch a lot of ponds and waterfalls that was made in my country (Russia) and close around (Ukrain, ...). And most of waterfalls were vertical oriented, like a tower. Some about 2 meter tall. I even didn't think waterfall may be horizontal oriented, and more natural, much more interesting and breathtaking for contemplation (got help with dictionary with the word, hope it means i was thinking about :))
Fortunately find your blog before realized my dream to build a pond with sturgeons in my garden (pond will be about 100 m2, 2 m deep). Now i know how my waterfall will be look like. Thank you for sharing ideas, comments, technologies, etc!
Great pondless water feature and I have a better understanding on what type and size of stones to choose for different water features. Also like the way that you didn't make it "STICK" out of the ground like I have seen on so many water features. The sad thing is the consumer really doesn't know or see the difference unless they visit another "BUILT RIGHT" water garden feature. Keep up the great work and very educational video's.
Sure thing Dan, looking forward to chatting this week!
Very nice video, keep up the great work. Saludos amigos.
Thank you kindly, hope you’re great👍😎👍
Great job!!
I am at the beach in North Carolina thinking about kayaking with you. Seem like a great time to respond to your two year old comment!
@@KoiAddiction glad to know it made a memory! Let's do it again before that memory gets too far off! Salute!
John, thank you for this educational video. As I am finishing my first recreation pond, I know how valuable all your advices are. I am so grateful for your youtube chanel. 😀
That’s so awesome! I am glad to have helped you build a better water feature! If you wanted to you could go on our google page and shoot us a 5 star review and a few words of love…just thinking out loud 😂
Great job and instructive video. Especially at night, this water-feature looks spectacular!
I agree. When I went out there to shoot the night shots, they were on the back patio hanging out and having wine😎 MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!
Nice 🙂
Thanks!
Lovely job, great detail and flow of water. I know this was a few years ago but it all helps. I'm in the UK, and follow most of you top landscapers, and love the work you all do, i'm going to be doing my own DIY stream in to my pond and hopefully it might look better than i hope for. If you can remember what was your elevation fall from the top to the basin water level, and how deep would you make your stream depth of rocks. 👌
We had about 24 inches of elevation change maybe 30 but I don’t think so. We typically will make the water in the stream different jobs in different areas to create different sounds. We just make sure we keep our liner at least 3 inches above projected water level.
Great vid
TYVM :)
I would add some fire pots or torches or something
That feature would be awesome if it had a fire element🤠
Hi John, just watched your video building custom waterfall in flat backyard. Thanks for your technical explanation videos about choosing the rocks also.
Couple questions,
What would you charge for this job and I saw that due to rain the job took longer than expected and you had to rent a skid steer. Do you pass along those costs to your client? If so is it cost only or with some administration costs?
Time lapse was great
We never pass cost on to clients unless they add on to the project. We track numbers and make great notes for future bidding. This job (should have sold for $30k based on numbers we ran. We sold it at $25k (without landscaping). We did ok, hit the target not the bullseye. We still have some tweaking to do, we actually have a leak on the top end to fix somehow. This is our first leak in a few years🙄 This cost is on us as well. In the end we have to grow, learn, and maintain our reputation. Life happens! Great question, thanks for watching🙏
John did you find and fix the leak?
Yes we absolutely did find and fix that leak. It was just a small spot on the edge where the liner had a funky fold, it happens sometimes but we always find it and fix it :-)
I've been watching waterfeature videos almost everyday for over a year now. There are some great videos out there but these two videos showed more of the process than I've seen. Many videos show the process but this video was not just a timelaps, it slowed down to real speed during critical points and helped me understand how a lot of things are physically accomplished. Loved it. Can I ask the size of the pump on this project?
5000 GPH Aquasurge-and it’s worth saying that there would have been even more water flow if we would’ve used 3 inch pipe👍
How do you handle getting electrical to pond for pump?
I always get it run by a certified electrician👍
@@KoiAddiction Thanks for the reply. Do you normally run it off drop cord and have the elecitian come in after it is done? Also thanks for the amazing videos
Охуительно 👍
:)
Hi am trying to build a swimming pond , with wetland area ,with a fish pond and waterfall. I have some ideas allready but bit losted. My space is small so I mite need to knock down a room r something if I can get planning permission. Any tips thanks
Start out doing a little research on regulations in your area. From there you can begin your design. Designs the Water Feature starting with The Pond, then design a wetland filter that is sized appropriately for the size of the pond, then design a negative edge or an intake bay that is sized appropriately for the total combined flow of all pumps in the feature.🤟 at least that’s what I would do :-)
@@KoiAddiction thanks for the reply. I seen on some other site watever size your pond is , your wetland and fish pond should be 30% the size of your swim pond,Goes that sound right to you. And sorry just one more question , am a carpenter and can do concrete and plastering, could I do most of my pond that way and just put some rocks up at the top. Thanks again
