i bought the same at costco... i use it november to april to grow the rest of the year... canning jars or more fall seedlings for winter harvest indoor
I love the shop lights. You don't have to go with florescent like mine. The LED shop lights should work just as well. Just remember that they have to be close to the plants.
There's an article about it on our website and I do have a 2 hour course on how to make it, but I don't have anything here on RUclips. onlinegardeningschool.com/p/pvc-drip-irrigation-system
yes! awesome video i just cut some clones from my habanero and jalapeno plants earlier today, we have the cold front hitting south texas, right now and they all gonna die had no time to cover them, today it was either xmas elbow and knee muay thai fighting for gifts or save the plants.
Awesome setup! I just upgraded my seedstaring station last year to an identical shelf setup. I love it! Mines in the basement though so I need reminders to water too 😄
I really hope this spot helps me with that this year. I love growing my own seedlings but I have to admit there have been times when I have killed them because "out of sight, out of mind"!
What are your thoughts on the difference between using an open metal shelf vs a smaller portable green house for indoors? Is one better than the other and are there cons to either? This is my first year starting seeds indoors so I'm acquiring all the things
The green house is overkill for indoors. Just a simple shelf is all you need. With a green house indoors I feel like the added moisture and heat would promote both diseases and pests on your plants. - That being said you can even have those problems with open shelves, I just think they would be more prevalent with the green house.
I start all my seeds in basement. I did move them to a bedroom a few years back and it was too warm and my seedlings grew way too fast. Sounds like a good thing but it was not.
I have two of those shelving units to stsrt seeds and pot them up and I made the mistake and fertilized with fish immulsion, bad idea, especially since it's in our kitchen area...gross smell fir a week. 🤣. Can't wait for the course. The live broafcast, is that on zoom or on Facebook, or other?
The Live is on Zoom. Based on the interest I'm already having in the workshop, I will likely do more than one session. Possibly one in the afternoon and one in the evening.
I did this years ago and the whole set-up cost me $139.00. Mine is 4 feet long and 7 feet tall with 6 shelves but I only use 4 to 5 shelves. I also have another unit I just made this year that I put together for under $200.00 total with grow lights and heating mats in shelving unit.
Those shelves are what I use in my pantry, they hold over a thousand pounds-they're great! My seed starting last year used a similar set-up, with 6 shop lights in my dining room. I have been told that microgreens do need a proper grow light, though. What is the reasoning for this? Can they be grown under shop lights at all? I'd like to try some but I only have 2 grow lights (one flat per light). Got on the waitlist for this!
Hey guys! Here's my new seed starting set up! I hope you enjoy the video!!
U like big sucky soldier boi?

That's great!
Good setup. I’m bringing mine indoors as well. Good advice. I was wondering what fertilizer I could use without stink!
Glad I could help!
Checks all my boxes. Thanks!
You are welcome!
Looks amazing. I'm just setting up a shelf myself so great timing to see this.
Thanks!
Speaking about seeding in the cool garage did you notice your lettuce doing better out there?
They do fine in the spring, but not so good when I am getting starts ready for summer or fall. Just too hot in the garage then.
Very nice! Thanks and Merry Christmas!
🎄☃️🎄❤️
Merry Christmas to you too!
👍👍👍👍👍
I have a similar setup in my office! I don't care for the lights I have though, want to switch over to shop lights this year.

Rick, do you have a vid where you show making your pvc watering system - I subscribed and looked at your playlists and video names and can't find one
There's an article about it on our website and I do have a 2 hour course on how to make it, but I don't have anything here on RUclips.

@@StoneyAcresGardening thank you, about slope, if I make sure that in each box the pipe is level, is the slope still going to be a problem
Awesome video!!!! Thanks, gave me some great ideas. I'm getting my basement set up and now I know what I need to do. Thanks again.
I'm glad I could help! Let me know if there is anything else you need help with.

I'm glad you were able to get some clones! I would imagine in your area you will be able to put them back out in just a couple of months??
@@StoneyAcresGardening yes we have 300 growing days out of the year

At our last house we had an unfinished basement and that's where I grew my seedlings. It worked really well there.
Hello, where did you buy turborganic from. Not available on amazon.
You can get them directly from the company. There's a link in the video description. I bought it directly from them at a local farmers market.
Made these investments last year, glad that's done. Let's growwwwww
Nice!! I'm looking forward to another great season!

So what will you do with the lettuce once they have their true leaves? Do you repot them and continue growing them indoors?
Yes, exactly, some will stay under the grow light and others will go in our south facing windows.

I don't know the technical reasons for that, but I have to agree. My micro-greens do much better under the grow than they do under the shop lights.
And #3 no fungus gnats, 😂 one year I had the worse infestation, 😮😂. Great tips! Thanks👩🏻🌾🌱🥦🌽🥕🍅🥬
Glad it was helpful!
