I got my seeds all planted and bought these lights you recommended since I’m doing just a few seeds. My question is what color of lights do I use for germinating my seeds?
Great information. I have a set of led lights, similar to the one at the beginning of your video. Could anyone tell me if its better to start seedlings with only the blue light? or should I use red & blue together? Thankyou
I bought some led full spectrum red/blue 4ft strips and a shelf. My biggest concern or question is how far to place above the seedlings. They don't have reflectors. And I am not sure of the lumens yet either.
The light's manufacturer might have a recommendation or even folks in the comments for your product. We keep ours ~6 inches above young seedlings and they do well! But they also have the purple diffusers on them and aren't INSANELY bright. Just use good judgement, if it seems too close or bright for a living thing it probably is!
Thanks for the info . QUESTION: at what point do you turn the lights out? Is it basically when ready to put outside? Or do you transplant into a large container leave the light on and let them grow more before setting outside?
I purchased the 3 prong clip on light you recommended but I am unclear how long I should use each switch mode (warm white/Red+Blue/Sunlight White) during each 12-16 hour cycle. Or should I leave the light in one mode? I am using this for my seedlings.
Thank you for the info! I'm trying to grow wildflowers (lupine and geranium) from seeds I collected this Fall for the first time and am pretty clueless 😂
Thank you. I have the same lights with clip. Just started lettuce, cabbage and peppers. I have 3 (12) chamber starter trays. They’ve sprouted but are stringy after 1 week 😀😀😀
Hi from the UK. I’m new to your channel and last year I bought some grow lights like the first one you demonstrated and was just wondering how close to the newly sown seeds should the lights be?
Once the seeds sprout, I would recommend keeping them about 2-3 inches from the top of the plant. You'll be able to tell if the plant is "reaching" for the light and you need to move it closer. If it's too close, you might see some spots on the seedlings. I'd start farther away and then move closer if necessary!

Newbie I ordered 50 White Pine seedings. The seller recommended I grow them for a year before I plant them to make them stronger. During this period I would like to grow them inside my home. What system do you recommend. Will this system work? Is it possible to grow pine trees seedings indoors?
Never tried starting trees from seedling! We always buy saplings from a nursery, or many times we have gotten free 3' saplings that are given out by local programs working to promote tree planting. I'd try looking into that too! But I'd guess that tree seedlings will grow similar to any indoor house plant or seedling.
The gooseneck one what colour indicates the time, I’m using Likesuns but it doesn’t show numbers just colours red, green, blue. Which colour is 12 hours
Those clip lights are absolute garbage the other ones are ok but for the price you can get a cheap fluorescent ballast and buy some led bulbs for alot cheaper if all your doing is starting seeds on a shelving unit
They work great for us and many others. If you don't have somewhere to hang overhead lights (such as a shelving unit), you need something that can clip onto the edge of a table or counter.
@@mainedoglady theres better options you can build shelving or just mount led bulbs in some floro fixtures ,these just don't have the output for much other than starting seeds or supplemental lighting
Those lights are trash. I literally returned the same exact ones earlier today because the clamp doesn’t support the weight of the lights and they ended up falling onto seedlings causing one to snap in half. Do not get those lights. Get ones that hang and are adjustable
You must have got something different, because I just checked ours and they are clamped firmly onto the edge of our countertop and hovering over our onions as I type this! Hanging are okay, we have those too, but less versatile

Finally someone who doesn't recommend lights that cost more than my entire paycheck
Was trying to find a video that would help me know how to choose and use these lights systems for a while now. Glad I found your chanel!

You don’t need light for germination
Blurple

My advice don't use blurple grow lights they aren't as efficient as the day light leds you get better light spectrum and penetration to the leaves
Thank you so much for all the information provided on grow lights, now I know which ones to start my seedling!
So when you sow seeds - you put all the colours on? Correct?
I bought some led full spectrum red/blue 4ft strips and a shelf. My biggest concern or question is how far to place above the seedlings. They don't have reflectors. And I am not sure of the lumens yet either.
Same, I’m trying to figure out what to do.

What color light do you use to sprout the planted seeds? Red or blue?
Exactly the information I was looking for and needed. I had already bought a similar clip on light you showed. It's now set properly. Thanks so much!
Nothing beats fluorescent lights for seedlings. NOTHING. (for indoor growing). 😊

I leave it the mode that has both the red+blue light! It's worked well for me!

Very informative thank you. This is my first time trying to grow a garden and I am using the lights for my seed plants

hey there, what light color do you use in seeding/germitation period ? blue or blue +red ?
Would these lights be good for regular houseplants?

What is the name of those lamps? And where to buy it?
Both of the grow lights are listed on our Amazon Affiliate storefront page. You can find the link in the description of this video!

GREAT VIDEO! I just bought the multicolor lights. Why are they colored and the others (in your basement) white? Thanks

I seen that on temu
yes but make sure you tell everybody they don't last that long either
Walmart sells HyperTough 5500lm X 5000K 4ft shop lights $19.98
!
Do they have power cord or hard wired?
Thanks , very helpful.
U are so pretty. Thanks for the video 😊
What watt is best. 50 or 100 for parsely?
My dad uses AreoGarden. You don’t have to water it. The light is adjustable as the plants grow. The light is set on a timer that you set up
Thank you
Is it expensive
Thank you

Super helpful video!
Glad it was helpful!
I can only see the clip lights on the link to Amazon. Is there another link for the 4’ lights, or can you post the model number?
Apologies for the delay! I added the link to the description.
Walmart also has them
Thank you!! Great video for a newbie. ❤️
Glad it was helpful!!
The link for lights doesn’t seem to work
Fixed! Thank you!

@@MasonDixonAcres I use quantum boards and hps those clip on lights don't provide any coverage and lack the light intensity for real growth
Need one with power cord. Shop lites usually hard wired(?)

How many seedling flats can you get under your grow light set up?
I can fit 4 on each shelf!
@@MasonDixonAcres You should try INDIGO KUMQUAT tomatoes this season.
they are NOT the best by FAR
Thanks for sharing

China strikes again
I have these lights and they work fine. No slipping or crashing onto my seedlings. I had hanging ones that would always fall.
