    My friend traveled to be on Bandstand ( which was her dream) and not only was Annette there but Dick Clark gave a shout out to the people of our town lol She said Annette was so beautiful and kind to the fans. American Bandstand is classic and I was glad I'm glad I was there for it.

      Miranda, I'd agree but who saw them without consciously looking at them? I wonder why they didn't put those blonde in black tops and Annette in a white top. Might have made it more equal in terms of what to watch.

      My classmates at our boys high school in Australia were all smittened with Annette, to put it mildly. We didn’t have American Bandstand but we did have the Mickey Mouse Show and though we were in our mid teens we watched it just to see her! Seeing her here in this clip brings back memories of those years. Thanks Annette, wherever you are.

      @Azishome 6 лет назад +25

      +Nick Cline, brother, to see Annette Funicello as a victim who suffered and died is a betrayal to who she was, and who she will remain in our memories. She suffered through years of her disease--she never showed herself as a victim of anything. She was a brave, committed wife and mother. She never mourned herself, never allowed anyone to think of her as suffering. She was married to a man who treasured her, and that's how she left us: a God-fearing, constitutionally strong woman of character and integrity. THAT's how I remember her, and that's how she will be in my mind until I am no longer here to think of her and her family.

      Terry Burns A beatnik is not a hippie, just as jazz is not rock and roll. Beatniks appeared on other shows although not as a main character. On tv they normally looked rather goth, in all black with jet black hair and black sunglasses indoors or at night, clicking their fingers to applaud beat poetry which was often stream of consciousness, or something approximating music in coffee houses. They did choreography not dance. On tv shows, often written to mock beatniks, they had a penchant for sitting on the floor, being very skinny and flexible, using mindless jargon as if they were stoned, and being bone idle and work shy because they were so into their obscure art they couldn't be bothered with the outside world. The guys had silly beards, often without a mustache, and cared about the new psychological theories, thinking they were being sophisticated, unlike the losers in the small towns who hadn't yet moved to the cities. Maynard was part beatnik and part, as Dobie's father put it, slob. :)

      Be yourself - I know that’s like telling you to fly to the moon. But all teenagers go through this awkward stage of enquiry and discovery. And you will get through it.
      One thing is certain amid the storm and drama of teen angst, you must try to be true to who you are, the core set of values, likes and dislikes, principals that’s you. Not always easy but important to not lose sight of.
      In the end, you’ll be recognized as the person you’ve become and be confident and self-possessed going into adulthood. Not always smooth sailing, not always a straight line, but you’ll get there. We all do.

      @@Gothicc_senpai glad to hear you’re doing great. Yeah, you’re right about the superficial and fleeting nature of today’s cultural milieu. It’s the other side of the digital revolution we don’t hear much about. It’s also because we’ve become less outgoing and adventurous as a society, for every age group. We spend too much time isolated in our small circle of friends or even without friends. A pervasive generalized fear has imprisoned us, much of it with little basis in reality but some surely the result of the rise and randomness of crime. We’ve grown less trusting of each other and definitely of strangers. It does worry me.

      What does Kennedy's assassination have to do with Madison?
      This is for you to understand .... in Stephen King's book 11-22-63 and in the later mini TV series a Madison dance is told, it is there that I look on this blessed RUclips and encounter with surprise a Dance of those years that I liked very much. Answered?..............

    Annette may not have been Ann Margaret, but she was sweet and a good dancer. We see her here on American Bandstand. She may have still been under contract with Disney. If you read Disney’s autobiography you will see he ruled with an “Iron Fist” no overt sexual behavior, such as no bikini, no exposed “navel”. We look at Annette and Frankie Avalon they definitely were not Ann and Elvis in “Viva Las Vega”. Watch “Bye, Bye, Birdie” and watch “Beach Party”. The two actresses couldn’t have been more different. Ann Margaret is a free form “Jazzy “ dancer, Annette is dancing “The Madison” it’s square dancing an d I do mean “square” in every way. When.I was10 year old, Annette was 16, at the other hand at the same time Ann was 17. Five years later when Ann did BBB she was 22 years old, I was 15. Same for VLV. I was a Teenager and had a crush on both of them. She’s doing the “Madison.”

    Is that Pat Boone and Edd Byrnes From 77 Sunset Strip with BoB Denver?

  • @michaelquebec6653
    @michaelquebec6653 8 лет назад +1

    I've seen other clips that I think are from the same show. There is a segment with these teen idols along with Paul Anka doing medleys of their songs, and then a comedy number where both Bob Denver and Ed Byrnes are teaching Pat Boone how to "speak jive."
    I have a feeling it's a TV special.
    Does anyone know the title of the full show?

    Check out the Ray Bryant original. John Waters paid tribute, Pat B and his group stole material as their own. Was there any reference to the source on this broadcast? Don't bet on it.
