Many props to Vortex for listen to the customer critiques and updating the refresh rate and auto shut of features. Now this is one of the best optics for smaller carry guns on the market. Definitely in my top two choices and it’s looking better every day.

Contacted Vortex, had it swapped out in less than a week!!!
Bought the CCW version for my Shadow Systems CR920P Elite and it’s been flawless through about 7-800 rounds so far. Held zero the whole time and honestly looks badass on it as well. Thanks Vortex.

Love mine, super reliable. Very accurate. Have had it for a year. Vortex makes great sights. Love the Diamondback rife sight. 600 yards very accurate.
The defender ccw in an enclosed emitter style like Holosun EPS carry would be the perfect dot, I’m thinking. Hopefully that’s in the works 🤞🏼
Mine just bought today (3/28/24) has it printed on the box 10min. Shutoff- guess I lucked out! Looks great on my carry gun! Range day Ssturday. See how it compares to my 507 in another pistol
Did the defender ccw's auto shutoff time change? I thought its autoshutoff time was like 12 hours?
I believe it's 14 hours. I have one and wish it was something like 10 minutes just to save battery life.
It has been updated to 10 minutes.
Vortex website under features states "14 hour auto-shutoff".

Rolling change with updated emitter to resolve refresh rate issues and adjusted to 10-minute auto-off!
Sadface, I have the first CCW on my Plus... and put a Holston 507comp on my M&P 1.0 in December. I am missing all the right timing.
Contact Vortex customer service. They will swap out your old ccw for the new improved model free of charge
Off topic but holy cow! You have that muzzle flip on the Glock 45 as close to zero as I have ever seen!
Ok about the video. You didn't mention the improved emitter on the Defender CCW. I feel that Vortex has hit it out of the park with the new model. What is more, Vortex offered to exchange my old SKU number optic for the new SKU free of charge. Talk about knowing how to keep a customer.

How is a guy gonna know which CCW model he would be getting? I was all for one except for the 14hr shutoff. It'll be a purchase now that it has been updated, but I don't want to buy a 14hr model someone has on the shelf. Would you update an older version? Oh, and give us a green dot!
Is it 10 minutes? Website Manual still says 14... yes I have one too. 9 month in and have not changed the battery.
@@shuntao3475 , the way I understand it, they haven't updated the manual. The website wasn't updated last time I looked either. I called Vortex and asked them how to know which model a person would be buying..... They said you wouldn't know. They haven't changed the part number or anything. The red dot is updated, but no way of knowing if you're getting an updated one or not.
@@ericthered7226the box for the new CCW says 10 minutes instead of 14hrs. I called Simmons Sporting Goods to verify before I ordered and they had the new ones. Could also verify if you're in a store where you can look at the box.

Which one of these reds would be the best option for a Springfield XDM Elite OSP pistol in 10mm with a 4.5" barrel? I use this pistol for carry when I am in the woods mostly.
I’d go for a holosun. It’s what I have on my xdm elite 4.5” osp 9mm.

i just ordered a Defender ST for a new Glock 19 Gen5 MOS. Very interested in comparing vs the very different Leupold Deltapoint Micro on a G19 Gen3. Very different red dots, with similar price and intended usage - carry/defense.
Please give details on the G45 build the compensator, barrel, trigger... looks very nice.
Whats AOS plate for the Defender ST? May go on a Springfield Prodigy.
Did you say the ccw also has a 10 min Shut Off? I just purchased one it list a 14 hour shut off.
I just got one today and it has the 10 minute shut off. they are shipping. if you got the 14 hour it was older stock

I just got mine and anything over setting five, the dot is pretty much useless. You get a bad reflection from the emitter window and glare.
Will the ST co-witness with a full size M&P 9mm optics ready?

What would be better to piggy back on a Spitfire 5x CCW or ST? When will they hit market I know you guys making a plate for the spitfire 5x to piggy back the ST release date for both?
Good to hear the ST has a 10 min sleep mode but doesn't the CCW have like a ridiculous 12hr sleep mode or has that been updated??

I want one. Looks like the perfect fit for my M&P Shield Plus, but I want the new version. How do I tell the difference when purchasing - does the new version have any numbers on it to differentiate it from the old version??
I have the original on my Plus... it is nice. I change optics batteries annually, so I am not worried about the life.

Warranty and supporting a company owned by Americans. Otherwise no difference. Probably made from the same components as a Holosun.
Best warranty and customer service from an American company; that alone sells itself to me even though I like Holosun. I run the Defender CCW on my 365XL and have an RMR on my custom Glock. Been debating which Holosun I want and really like the oversized circle to help find the center dot faster.
We may be biased, but the Glass clarity, durability, service, and warranty are just all-around better!
Holosun has a more common footprint indeed...
Unfortunately there are no reasons. Holosuns are all over the internet getting dropped and beaten up and ensuring the punishment. They hold zero, retain and excellent dot without flickering and they have features that actually make sense within a working man's budget. They also are the cutting edge of optics technology in the market. Vortex, along with many others are simply way behind. Even my beloved Aimpoint is behind although I throw one on any true SHTF gun. The ACRO P2 is a beast for instance.
Not enclosed, no green dot, no standard footprint. It's 2024. Let's go Vortex. Catch up.

I got the smaller CCW and it does so I'd assume the bigger ST would.
Yes. Partly why the price is higher than holo. You will have addl expense of getting a riser for AR tho. Oic rail on shotty maybe. But its low.
Will the ccw mount to 43x without a plate?
Yes. It is the Shield rms footprint, just like the 43x mos.
