Poor Baby. When they can’t tell you where it hurts it can be so hard. And pain radiates. I’m so glad you advocate so well! Good for you. When I taught I always told parents to advocate for services or adaptations for their kids. Every child needs a hero in their corner.

This is why doctors need to listen to mom's and mom's need to listen to their gut instincts, mom's know their kids better than anyone. Freya is such a wee trooper, that smile is priceless and thank God she has you as her mom Marci. I wish you all a happy, healthy and joyous Christmas.

  • @104Margie

Marci, you need to send a letter to the Orthopedic Emergency Center to praise that PA who was so caring and took time to think outside of the box to X-ray her other shoulder. If you could “bottle” Freya’s smile you would make a fortune😂. I know she always makes me smile!

So grateful that Freya didn’t have to have surgery, poor baby. It might be useful to someone else in the future if you call the first doctors office and the radiologist that read the X-ray and educate them on what happened, the panic you went through and what the diagnosis ended up being, which was what you told him about to begin with. I definitely understand your frustration with finding good doctors!!

Despite the unfortunate circumstance that our sweet Freya has a broken elbow, what an asset to know about her shoulder anatomy for future knowledge! Hopefully will avoid possible misinterpretations later! It gave an opportunity to check something that doesn’t ordinarily get checked! Feel better soon Freya! ❤️❤️

I’m so sorry Freya fell and broke her elbow, Mums know best sometimes. You were there for her, thank goodness, this is a prime example of how much being an advocate for your child is paramount, disabled children more so. If I hurt my eyes and finish up at the hospital, similar situation, oh how are my eyes different or, how come this or that. Instead of dealing with the pain or taking that strong light away from my eyes that’s adding more pain. Not a very good analogy but non the less it shows how them not listening causes its own issues. How right you were to voice for her.
I hope that Freya gets well soon, with time and support from her lovely family I’m sure that she will show you when her lucky arm is better. Stay safe.

Way to advocate for Freya. They do this with all kids sometimes. My daughter had kidney stones at age 10. The doctor told her she needed to be quiet. She was screaming in pain. I said to him "why have you not given her something for pain yet. I made him give it to her asap. She was the youngest child they had ever seen with this at the time. She has a pituitary growth in her brain which messed her system up badly.❤❤❤glad you got to the bottom of it.

I think from now on, you should adopt an attitude. You can still be nice. But, go in there and ask that they also check her arm. You knew. They did not, and God Bless the urgent care pediatrician. My daughter fell once from a sidelyer front 4 feet off the ground. She ended up with a broken clavicle, but it took two days to finally get someone to find it. Tracy also cried for 2 days. Awe, Freya is such a trooper! Breaks her elbow and she’s still smiling! I‘m so glad she didn’t need surgery! I can tell you that doctors do not only react like that to special needs kids. They‘ll do the same thing if you’re overweight - everything is due to you being overweight. And then why is the waiting room full of fricking skinny people? Right off the bat I was worried about the push for surgery. Marci good on you for following your intuition and getting a second opinion. I too thought it was Freya's elbow, once it was in a sling/cradled next to her you could see her relief at the park. We all need to get comfortable with advocating for those who are dependent on you and yourself. This one was a roller-coaster of emotion just watching I can't imagine how stressful it was for you and Chris. Hi! I love your videos . I am a retired ER nurse. I'm not sure if this message will be useful or not. Whenever we sent people home with a sling on,we advised them to wear collared shirts to prevent the strap of the sling from rubbing on the opposite clavicle. Hope Freya’s feeling better , and you as well!! So glad she has you to advocate for her! I think at times the docs don’t listen as much to us (and what our instincts are)as they should ! She’s such a sweet little angel. You have some pretty great kiddos and family for sure!! Hope y’all had a great Holiday!!! Great seeing on of your videos again, although frustrating for you I’m sure. At least she don’t have to have surgery!!

Aww, my little friend is hurting 🙁 As a mom I know exactly how you feel Marci. It may not be your arm but it is just something about seeing your child in pain that hurts you to the core. Sending all the family my love and a special hug for my super hero Freya.

Although it’s sad her elbow is broken at least you know about her shoulder anatomy now which could save time trying to explain in the future if something else ever happens. Little miss daredevil will no doubt try other dangerous feats of bravery. Hopefully she heals quickly and will leave her cast on until it does. Hope you have a peaceful Christmas with everyone feeling better. 🙋🏼‍♀️

UFFDA (Norwegian for good grief, oh no, oh …) Mothers intuition!!!! Most people in the medical field are great. But some are not. I am disabled and have had situations just like you. PRAISE GOD for showing you where to go!!!! 🎉

I’m so sorry Freya and Marci. Having worked in Medical Records, I know what can be screwed up. You are Marvelous and if I was there, I would give you both a gigantic hug. Prayers for you both. I know as a Mother too, your heart breaks for your child. My Prayers always for you all. I think you have a budding Nurse or Teacher in Jessie. God bless and know I am with you in spirit. Love you, your New Jersey friend💋💗😉💕❤️Merry Christmas all.

I spent many a holiday in the ER with one child or another; not the best thing to have happen, but I always told them it was our special holiday adventure. We had strep throat, a broken foot, mono .. those are just a few. When my son was around 8 years old, he broke his elbow, as well .. he cried all night for a full week straight, the pain was just unbearable. I'm not sure how both of us survived that but somehow you do. Life with my 7 children has sure been a wild ride, and even though they weren't things you might have wanted to happen, they are still memories we made that we still talk about today, even though the kids are all grown with lives and families of their own. One day - when yours are grown up - you will look back and even laugh: How did I go through all of that crazy and still be able to put a complete sentence together?! Somehow, you do. Marci, you're a wonderful Mom and you are such a beautiful family. Wishing you all a blessed Christmas and a New Year of making new memories together. Sending sweet, precious Freya love and hugs 🤗 💜🌲⛄

You did a good job, trusting your gut. And your heart of hearts when you know something is up usually there’s something up. When I was four years old, I did a front somersault over my big sister and broke my arm. And my mom sowed all of my slings for my arm. I was in a cast from my fingers to my shoulder. And I was like that for at least eight weeks.

Oh my goodness. It is so frustrating when doctors won’t listen to parents who know their kids better than anyone else. Poor baby. I’m so sorry she broke her elbow, but so glad she won’t need surgery!
