His extensive knowledge and commitment to global diplomacy and economic solutions are truly inspiring. The topics covered in this video - from conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza to global diplomacy - are of immense significance to the global community.
Lawrence Krauss, your interview with Jeffrey Sachs not only showcases his impressive career and contributions to economics but also his unwavering dedication to finding sustainable solutions through diplomatic means. This is a much-needed call for reason in a time when military confrontations often take center stage.
The open and respectful nature of the discussion, even in the face of disagreements, underscores the importance of clear and analytical approaches to solving global issues. Sachs is a voice of reason who should at the very least be listened too and make one think a little deeper about their positions. I had much of my notions or positions challenged over the years. It’s quite liberating when you aren’t formulating opinions based solely on what is being touted by one political party, the state department, Fox News, or CNN etc. listen to alternative views and start to think critically!
Anyways, looking forward to listening! I’ll be watching Sachs conversation with Tucker Carlson next.

Wow. Ive listened to a lot of Jeff S but I have never heard his back story. It’s very interesting and important to hear. I have been on a journey or a quest rather that started by asking similar questions as Jeff. I feel like my pursuit of knowledge is me trying to answer a few questions & one being ‘how does this world work?’ & some secret questions as well. I like to listen to smart, well read people who talk about books they’ve read. When a book is mentioned I look it up and depending on some variables I purchase and read it! This has been a major factor in my mental gains. It’s all about asking the right questions & looking for the right answer.

“I’m sure that some of the listeners will disagree profoundly with some of the things he suggests regarding those conflicts (Ukraine, Gaza)…. I admit that I agree with the general notion that the only way to end conflicts like this is diplomacy… military solutions don’t work out”
Goodness how hard is it to just be a human? These conflicts are killing, displacing, crippling, and upending the lives of millions of people. End the wars for this reason alone.

The underlying, unspoken, unacknowledged aspect of this conversation is the sheer privileged foundation from which Dr. Sachs began his journey. I cannot help but wonder how many wise, big-hearted, genuine human beings fell by the way-side due to economic anonymity? Nevertheless, I think that Dr. Sach's awareness of his own privilege underscores much of his contemporary analysis. He seems to be an anomaly in current world affairs.

American treachery is widespread and long standing.
We rarely honor treaties and agreements we've made with countries during diplomatic relations.
Since the Civil War there's a history of lying to Native indigenous tribes, ultimately using violence and/ or demanding complete subjugation. Placing them in segregated, closely managed reservations where we erased their cultural identity, language and family system.
Russia was once a great friend, but lost their utility after WW2, where their sacrifice was greatest. Putin made countless attempts during his presidency to join the NATO alliance, and strengthen ties with the West. Consistently being rebuffed or ignored, he ultimately gave up. China, our greatest trading partner, is now considered the enemy.
All of these diplomatic failures were intentional, as it didn't suit our hegemonic goals. The casualties are always the people, who are last on the list. Dying in endless wars, not for "Democracy" and preservation of "State Sovereignty", but to maintain the status quo.
The Cold War never ended. It's seen in our intervention in political outcomes around the world. Instead of having productive relations that benefit the many instead of enriching the few.
The U.N. is a grand idea, but has become increasingly toothless and performative. The fact that investigation into destruction of the Nordtream Pipeline was summarily rejected and never to be revisited. The worst act of environmental terrorism in history, resulting in Europe's economic free fall.
