Why the dislike of a politician. We live in a free country, and value freedom of speech and democracy. Okay, granted you might not like her as a politician. Yes it is. And - we have been signed up to the European Convention on Human Rights since 1950, not 1997. In fact, we wrote most of it. What Blair's government did was make it easier for us to start an ECHR case - before 1997 we had to take the case through all British courts before we could go to Strasbourg. After 1997, British courts apply the ECHR directly, from the word go.

Reading her book would send me over the edge. Your description of the contents of her thoughts sounds like she needs mental health intervention. The tory members have got a lot to answer for by giving the lettuce that amount of power. The British electorate should take her getting as far as she did, chosen by the members as a warning how bad these tories want power. Tories just want power at any price. Tories have lied to the electorate from day one. Tories have been heading towards a dictatorship for 14 years. Tories will take all the human rights that past generations of our families fought hard for. It took our families decades to get these rights , to protect the honest, hard-working people in Britain. Tories need to be voted out of power. Tories have dessimated many public services, tories have privatised our infrastructure and the bills have soared because these shareholders have taken all the profits, and not invested any of these profits to update any of these services which are vital to the British people. Tories have taken the electorate back as far as when, tories heroine Margaret Thatcher, was in power. The Thatcher years was an awful time for working people. Thatcher tories were as bad as Sunaks tories today. The country should keep an eye on the history of the tories. Tories did not share the wealth back then, all the wealth went to tories, big businesses and the rich, the same scenario is playing out in 2024. The sick, disabled, unemployed, and workers in this country deserve a share of the wealth, our kids and grandkids deserve a better future, but these tories are taking us back by keeping us poorer. MORALS NOT MONEY STOP THE TORIES STOP THE LIES STOP MONES BOAT

Saves me adding to her royalties. The human rights act is merely a law to incorporate what we had before plus a few tweaks such as eliminating thé death sentence for military and for treason.
The human rights act also provides for redress from citizens against the state so getting rid of it would benefit government but not the citizens. This government is just hiding its real reasons under the guise of the blinking boats.
