    Can we dream of a church of Christ in which the elders and deacons really are 'apt to teach', and do so by going out and knocking on doors! What a great example they would be setting . . . . the most mature members of the congregation going out door knocking, and occasionally inviting young maturing Christians to go along with them!

    This gentleman states "when they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus" and then proceeds to say it doesn't mention water. Well, what did Peter say about baptism in the name of Jesus was in Acts 10:47-48? We have to believe that the Spirit who is leading Peter (and Paul, etc.) was consistent. If baptism in the name of Jesus is water in Acts 10, it should also be water in Acts 2:38 and Acts 19 for the Ephesians. Correct?

      Peter compared baptism to the water that saved Noah and said, “Baptism…now saves you” (1 Peter 3:20-21). Paul compared baptism to circumcision under Mosaic Law and indicated that being “buried with [Christ] in baptism” results in being “forgiven” of all your sins (Colossians 2:11-13). But no one made the relationship between baptism and salvation more clear than Jesus who said, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mark 16:16).

  • @Concatenate
    @Concatenate 10 лет назад +3

    Ryan, I would like for you to explain your stance on Acts 19. So, you believe that someone believes and receives the Holy Spirit. The Ephesians clearly believed, were baptized in the name of Jesus, and then Paul laid hands on them for the gifts of the Holy Spirit. So, when were they saved? When they believed and were baptized, or did they require the hands of Paul? This verse is crucial to understanding the difference between receiving the Holy Spirit, and receiving miraculous powers (gifts, plural) of the Holy Spirit, in my mind at least.

    • @ryancook1608
      @ryancook1608 Год назад

      Ppl are saved when they believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At that moment of true everlasting belief, they are baptized by the Holy Spirit. Any spiritual gifts or measure of the Holy Ghost after that point is up to God and has nothing to do with salvation.

    • @nikeinjesus1
      @nikeinjesus1 5 месяцев назад

      @ryancook1608, you believe we are saved at the point of faith, receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
      If this is true, then why was Nicodemus >not< born again when he believed?
      Nicodemus said, "We know (positively know) that you come from God for no man can do these things you do unless God is with him."
      Though Nicodemus "believed on the Lord," Jesus warned Nicodemus he had to be born again.
      According to Christ, salvation is not granted by faith alone or Christ alone.
      For Nicodemus to be born again, Water (baptism) and Spirit were both required.
      Same goes for Paul. When Jesus appeared to Paul on the road, Jesus did not save Paul there and then as He did the thief on the cross.
      Paul most definitely believed on the Lord Jesus, yet, instead of saving Paul, he instructed him to go into the city and there it will be told you what you MUST do.
      So, why was Paul not baptized in the HS and saved upon his faith as you promote?
      Can you answer why Jesus sent Paul into the city instead of saving him there and then?
      Can you answer what was that Paul must do?

    Lighten up jr; let all you do be done in love. Your words can be harsh against those you are teaching. And trying to be the big dominant male ego isn’t fitting for a preacher of the Lord, when you beat down those you’re trying to convince, how will they hear? The meek shall inherit the earth. Otherwise great job in rightly dividing the Word. The guy you had on for a long while, may have had on the back of his mind yet not clear then, and still ignorant: “The washing of water by the Word” Eph 5. The Word purifies though not literal water unless by command involves it.

    If members of the church of Christ would spend just a little time every week at home studying God's Word, the work of the preacher would be dramatically changed. As it is now the preacher must spend a great deal of his sermon time going over elementary principles of the faith, because the people are dull of hearing and have no firm graspof them. Imagine how much more meat would be in his sermons if he knew the people were knowledgeable about those basic things.

    I've watched a lot of your videos and I agree with 99 percent of the things you teach. I am also a church of christ gospel preacher but I would hope you could be a little more gentle with pointing out all the things everyone is doing wrong and stick more with just teaching what is truth. If we know the truth then we will be able to see the flaws in all the denominations. With much love your brother in Christ

    • @brainroberts275

      I agree with the teaching my only point was instead of pointing out all the false teaching to just focus on teaching truth. If we know the truth then we will be able to see the false teaching. The bereans were more noble because they searched the scriptures daily to see if what they were being taught was true. This is what we all need to do. I dont think most people study enough to tell the difference between what's true and what's not. I just like to watch bible study and not mainly looking at what others are doing wrong.

      And the true Church of Christ is not a denomination but not all the congregations that wear that name are the true Church of Christ. Only those that follow the teachings in the new testament. Jesus bought and paid for his church with his blood and we have no authority to change anything that he has established.

      one of the faults with gospel preachers is they are afraid to name the false teachers and their satanical doctrine,so every one will know who they are and how to stop them.Rom 16:17
      most of the sermons today could be preached in any denominational church without offending any one. jp

    Johnny Robertson: Peter preached repent, baptize and receive the Holy Holy to Jews. But the Holy Spirit came onto Gentiles before they got water baptized. The Holy Spirit corrected Peter, so Peter realized salvation applies to all, so Peter preached believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you would receive forgiveness of sins THROUGH his name, Acts 10:43 and Acts 10:44-46 the reason Holy Spirit gave these signs so Peter has the assurance. More realization came onto Peter, see Acts 11:16 the Holy Spirit came onto new converts as Peter preached. Later Peter corrected elders at Jerusalem that God is the One who knows the heart, who accepts and gives Holy Spirit. Acts 15:8. The book of Acts begins the ministry of Peter, Paul and others. But the invisible hand is the Holy Spirit through out the book of Acts. In the beginning it did appeared that believers received Holy Spirit by laying on the hand and by water baptism,. but Acts 15:8 clearly tells all of us it's God who gives Holy Spirit, it's God who knew who whose heart would belong to Him. I wish church of Christ be less legalistic, be more humble, gentle in spirit, spend more time reading the Bible with context instead of nick picking their favorite verse 2:38 and made a salvation doctrine and a denomination out of Christianity.

    how can baptism be necessary for salvation if we are saved by God's grace he saves us and then we are water baptized baptism symbolizes what happens at salvation that we were buried with Christ and raised in Christ it is a demonstration of our faith and a public declaration to those around us if water baptism was for the remission of sins then why was Jesus water baptized he is sinless without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins God does not save us by grace and then depend on someone else to baptize us that's just silly

    • @calme-dx2dp

      Kevin Ramsey Grace is God's unmerited favor, that is you have grace already, you have it without doing anything, you don't need to believe, repent or anything, grace is there. I said you have grace, that does not mean you are saved.
      Titus 2:11,12
      11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
      12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world
      What grace did NOT and DOES NOT DO...it does not AUTOMATICALLY SAVE, What it DOES is make salvation available to all, you MUST access that salvation.
      It's like this everyone has available to them healthcare, but can all access that healthcare, there is something you must to to gain access.
      In Acts 2, Peter let's them all know the grace is there, Christ has done his part in making salvation available to them, now just because Christ made it available did that mean they were saved already, of course not. If they were already saved why did Peter continue to preach to them? and why did they ask, "MEN AND BRETHREN WHAT SHALL WE DO? Because they know there is something they must DO.
      That something is not just believe because they did that when they asked the question, and we know they had to do more because Peter continues to preach to them, and he tells them exactly what they MUST do. Are they now saved, no because Peter continues to preach, SAVE YOURSELVES FROM THIS UNTOWARD GENERATION. V41 Then they that gladly received were baptized, and it is ONLY then that they are saved (added), no one is added before baptism, because baptism puts one INTO Christ Gal 3:26,27, and one cannot be saved outside of Christ....the faith that OBEYS is the faith that SAVES....you cannot obey grace.

    • @calme-dx2dp
      @calme-dx2dp 6 лет назад +3

      Kevin Ramsey there is no scripture that says baptism is a public declaration, where was the public in Acts 8, where was the public in Lydia's household or the Philippian jailer, or when Paul was baptized?
      You demonstrate that you are in Christ not by a symbol (which baptism is not), but the life you lead, living Epistles read of men. Baptism is the answer of a good conscience toward God 1Per 3:21. It is an operation performed by God himself Col 2:11,12.
      There is no scripture that says baptism is or supposed to be a symbol, that is a false doctrine.

    Johnny Robertson: Read Romans 8:9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the , if indeed the of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? Read 1 Corinthians 2 if you received the Holy Spirit, He would help you to search all things of the Spirit. If you got wet from water baptism but no regenerated heart from the Spirit, you would never understand spiritual things. You are just stuck with your legalism and you sound like you have never received grace.
