    Great video, thanks for showing the part number needed..168 (2003 Sierra right |?)
    also slightly off topic, isn't the oil pressure gauge reading is too high ? my Sierra shows 50 when driving and 25 or so, when stopped and in drive.Thank you

      +sam kahill this was on a 2004 Silverado HD. Oil pressure on this and my 2004 1500 are pretty close all the time. It doesn't drop down into the 20psi range at all.

    Hi there - quick question regarding the video/cluster. Just above the speedometer stepper motor from left to right are 4 '122' resistors and then it looks like 2 'pinkish/red resistors? The pinkish looking resistors have fallen off my wife's instrument cluster... I was wondering if you'd be able to tell me what they are so I can try and purchase them somewhere! The cluster won't power up I'm hoping these are the culprit.

    I watched another video on this and the guy was trying to reinvent the wheel, you simplified this so much. Thanks for the vid, great job. Them LED's tho, ooooooo lol. These were SMD LEDs, I believe they were 3528s. Just soldered them into the light socket on the board with the appropriately sized resistor.

    Hi MrSubaru. I can see that this is a 5 years old video. But I'd like to ask you a couple questions anyways. A few months back (march 2020) I bought a BRAND NEW 2019 3.6R Outback. The car was not available at the dealer, so they had to get it from another one, more than 300 kilometers away. When I picked up the car it was 13 kms on the odometer. I am suspicious they didn't use a flat bed truck to transport the vehicle and instead drove the car all the way from one city to the other. My questions: Is it possible that the odometer has been tampered with? If so, is there any way to confirm this and find out the real odometer figure? Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Do the needles really auto calibrate. I have seen in other videos people putting tape on the guage face with a mark. Just curious if all the needles auto calibrate no matter where you put the needles while changing them. Also have you done any videos on the led upgrade... Great video btw

    I've had the problem in the past where my entire instrument cluster would go dead. No speedo, no gas gauge, no nothing. Sent it to get fixed, got it back and a bit later the entire LED is not working. I have no idea what my mileage is. Sometimes I can smack the dash and it comes on for a few minutes only to turn off again. Now, my gas gauge only goes to 3/4 of a tank, even though I just put $40.00 in last night. As I'm in CA, that means I only got a little over 10 gallons, but it should still register as fuller. Could this be a stepper motor problem or is it , hopefully just a bad connection behind the cluster?
    Thanks in advance for any help and thank you for posting this vid.

      zcamaross09 Well, I got the cluster off with no problems. Cleaned out the plug, checked for any bad soldering, didn't see any, plugged it back in, and it worked! For about two minutes, then it turned off. I smacked the dash, it came back on then went off. We played this game a few times before coming back to RUclips to find another fix. No luck. Any more ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Good evening, I have quick question. I have a newer engine that has less milliage than my 2003 Subaru outback engine has. My car is running good and not sure if I should take this newer engine and swap it out. Mine as currently has 313,000 miles on it and the other engine has close to 200,000 thousand. At the moment it is sitting on a pallet covered by a tarp. It is in VT and trying to get to Maine. Possible if I don’t do this it will sit under a tarp for the winter. My question, is that ok and if not a tarp, to build a pallet box around it and would it be ok then?

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  7 лет назад

      +Damon Vis I have several, about 6 Subaru engines outside my shop right now. They're on wooden pallets and covered/inside large thick plastic bags. As long as water can't get to it/in it. You should be just fine. I'd put some thick plastic sheeting over the engine, under the tarp.

    Ive replaced My Alternator already and have a new Battery,
    Do you think This is the next likely Culprit to my issue??

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  8 лет назад

      +Amanda Dillanger I'd have to believe that it's a faulty gauge. If it were truly over 19 volts, all the electrical components would be fired in the vehicle.

  • @tjsutton5757
    @tjsutton5757 5 лет назад

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  5 лет назад

      You can replace only the bad gauges, but while you're in that deep, might as well replace them all. They're all the same age and will all die fairly close to each other.

    • @tjsutton5757
      @tjsutton5757 5 лет назад

      Is it possible my gas mileage isn’t as bad as what my gauge is reading right now? Just bought my 04 Envoy this weekend and the oil pressure gauge and the volt meter are pegged out and it’s getting really shorty gas mileage or the gas gauge is faulty. Either way I’ll replace them all, guess I would feel better hearing that it’s not gonna kill my wallet on fuel being that it’s an in-line 6 lol Thanks man

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  5 лет назад

      There's a known issue with the sending unit in the fuel tank effecting the gas gauge too. Could be a bad gauge stepper motor, a bad fuel level sending unit, or both. I've replaced several sending units in Trailblazer /Envoys.

    Great video, did you happen to record the LED swap by chance? I assume those are SMD's and a 470K ohm resister on each? Other videos show zeroing the old steppers and marking with tape, is that not necessary? All my gauges except speedo are off (replaced that one 2 years ago but had to use a gps speed tracker to calibrate and my OBD2 scanner doesn't do oil pressure. Thanks

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  9 лет назад

      I did not record the led part unfortunately. They were smds and I can't remeber exact resistance I used on them. I've rebuilt probably 30-40 clusters this way with no issue in taping or zeroing anything. From my understanding when the cluster is installed and power is applied all the gauges calibrate to the needle park position.

    I have watch this video and others. Very informative! Thanks! But my question is this. I've been told that once you unplug the cluster from the wire harness to fix the bulbs, you have to have the cluster reset by a Chevy dealer. I've been told only they can do the reset. Is this true? If not, why don't any videos show the cluster going back in and working properly such as mileage, readings, control center, etc? Does it have to be reset after it's unplugged? Thanks in advance.

    the message center on the odometer on our 04 silverado switches from English to Spanish to French and won't show the mileage. will changing the stoppers correct our problem or does this just operate the gauges on the panel

    • @MrSubaru1387

      +Ruth Obrien that just operates the gauges. It won't have any effect on the DIC display.

    Hi, I hope you would see this comment, so I did everything, the speedometer is now working, but the fuel gauge is still out, I mean I just refilled, but it still say I'm only at half the gas, can you tell me why?

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  6 лет назад

      All gauges are working correctly except the fuel gauge?

    • @theodoreberbach9562
      @theodoreberbach9562 6 лет назад

      Hi, so I just rip it out and just put the needle back somewhere else, so now it roughly show the fuel level which should be acceptable, but the one not working properly at all now is the temperature meter, it is still all over the place. I tried putting it with the needle pointing at cold, at hot, and at the middle, three separate try yet still doesn't work. My car is Buick LeSabre 2004

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  6 лет назад

      This repair is for the truck/suv clusters. I'm not sure if the Buick cluster recalibrates itself like the trucks.

      @theodoreberbach9562 6 лет назад

      MrSubaru1387 ah I see, but still thank you so much friend, I may failed to get the temperature gauge working but at least the speed and fuel is roughly showing what's needed. Many thanks to you friend

      If you can access a code tool, you should be able to match the gauge positions to the data from the PCM.

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  9 лет назад

      No, gear indicator is a separate module in the cluster. Usually the problem with them are bad solder joints. Visually check the solder joints at the display, if they look good desolder and replace the display. They can be found on eBay.

    I'm not sure if it's my cluster that is out or what. Sometimes when I start my car none of my gauges work, but when I turn it off and turn if back on it will start working, been doing it for the last few weeks? Should I just replace cluster anyhow. Someone said something bout ignition thing going out lol. Idk crap bout cars. But after this video on confident I can replace mine lmfao. Who needs a man!

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  7 лет назад

      Glad that you enjoyed the video. There may be a short somewhere in the power supply to the cluster. This would explain why it is either working, or dead, and no in between.

      MrSubaru1387 how would I figure if that's the problem, and if it is, how would u fix it. Now really wanting to take it somewhere to get it looked at, it's a escalade so parts are already gonna be out the roof. Lol we just replaced the water pump and gear box lol feel like once u fix something, a new problem pops up!!!

      gustavo Beltran you put all the needles to the zero mark on assembly? Zero mark meaning all to the leftmost position? Key on, no start, and then back off, do they all park themselves to the left?

    • @gustavobeltran2911
      @gustavobeltran2911 6 лет назад

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  6 лет назад

      Odd. To correct it, accurately, you'll need to get access to a scan tool with live data. You'll have to remove and reinstall the gauge needles to correlate to the data the ecu outputs.

      I think it’s worth to point out something I noticed, all of them work except rpm and oil pressure I tried many resets but those two stayed off they don’t even move, frustrated I replaced the rpms with a used one one that’s was on the speedometer before, plugged in and it worked but after putting everything together it stop working 🤔🤔🤔 so, i think it has to be a short circuit which o doubt it, the steeper motor was going to go bad and it did right at that moment or i broke the new stepper motor myself, here I like you to helped me out and confirm if I’m right, I said I broke it cause once plugged I moved the Rpms needle and the oil pressure to the zero mark and looking at videos you move the needles unplugged
      I hope I make sense on what I’m saying and hope you can give me some advice
