Such cold temperatures can be imagined in ancient times. Why the nomads are so obsessed with going south. Without food, the population and livestock were decimated by the low temperatures
Hi Ken. 1. That photographer at the square telling you names of the other khans around Chinggis khan. 2. That market has much more interesting stuff to see and buy. But I understand it was too cold explore more. Also those yellow berries are called Chatsargana or Seabuckthorn. Indigenous to Mongolia and Southern Siberia. It’s a fatty, sour and tangy berry packed with lot of vitamins and antioxidants. 3. That dumpling most likely to have a mutton. 4. That supermarket looked kinda small and lacks variety of items. 5. Germany is one of the biggest trade partners of Mongolia. Has been trading for about 60 years. Thus the variety of German brands you see there. 7. Yes that fried noodle is one of the most common dishes in Mongolia. It’s eaten throughout the year.
@@KenAbroad Yeah but that's not actually noodle. We call that food tsuivan but if it's with soup then it's guriltai shul which basically means soup with flour. Because it's made out of just flour. For us, there is a different dish with noodles (not really traditional). If you google Tsuivan it would say that it's made with noodles, but that's not true. Our traditional dish doesn't usually use goiman (noodles). More likely to use just flour, meat, and dairy products. And we don't use spices or soy sauce stuff like that. Modern young people might add or eat foreign food. But traditionally we don't use sauces like other East Asian countries.
@hann659 where? In Germany? Or are you mongolian too? That's probably a fake chinese dish, and people would just name it mongolian. Like mongolian BBQ. We don't even use soy sauce. We don't have enough chicken for us to consume like that.

4:58 his right fact: The coldest temperatures in Mongolia can be found in the winter, which is the longest and coldest season. In Mongolia, the average winter temperature is -10° to -30° C (14° to 22° F), but temperatures can drop as low as -28° to -40° C (-18.4° to 65.2° F). The coldest temperature ever recorded in Mongolia was -55.6° C in the Zuungovi soum on December 26, 1966. (Zuungovi Uvs) western land
I am quite surprised that you felt that weird "enjoyment" of the cold. The Mongols get that craving, I am really missing the cold as I am far away my country. It is so refreshing and energizes you.
I believe due to lack of coasts being a very dry country and in high altitude the cold hits harder, I believe, it is the same cold, same temperature but more dry and more windy so you can feel the cold damaging your body, while in the north it is more of a silent killer (I think)

The dumplings you ate are called "buuz" and you ate the bigger version of it
The 120k for taxi is unreal. I mean 80k you can buy alot of things in mongolia. It should be around 30k-60k. Which 25km is around 60k . So like you might have been scammed by 20k.
Ooh the land of the eternal blue sky, Mongolia ❤️ I've been there last year in May. I was in awe of the steppes, and the sand dunes of the Gobi desert. The people, the culture, the food - it was everything. I miss it. I'm planning to come back this summer. 😎
It’s amazing bro
You should visit in summer time mongolia summer very beatiful in Mongolia 😊
oh man at the 29:00 you were sitting in front of the national library, a public place, you could have went in and ate the egg bread and left.
Yeah great I love Mongolia music it's good than others 😂😂😂
Your TAXI man was very gracious and was able to speak some ENGLISH. 👍🏽 That first breath looked tough. I knew after hearing you speak…GERMAN. I love the ice sculpture. I laughed because I’m certain there was a fee or charge for the bus…but the driver didn’t want to speak to you. 😂 The people are very kind and curious 👀 when looking at your height. The beer looked great even though I don’t drink it much. 🍻 POST ?!
Sees Mongolian winter weather, instantly understands why the Mongols were always trying to invade China to the south. 😆
Ken if it gets too cold l will come keep you warm🤗
23:54 Just a little english correction . Flavor is taste of a food or drink , what you meant to say is Scent which is the smell of something 🙌🏼 Happy travels ken

I want to visit cold countries in the future as well as someone who's coming from a tropical country
You should go to Inner Mongolia next and tell us the differences between Inner Mongolia and Mongolia.
That's a great idea
Me living in Mongolia for 11 years and my fav season is winter
Greetings from the kalahari desert 👋
Hiya Ken. I deliver frozen and chilled foods for a living and we have a freezer at work set at -25° It's so uncomfortable being in there for even short spells. Gives me a headache. Well done for getting new gloves 👏
Hope you're safe and well Mein Freund. 🇲🇳🏴🙏
Amazing❤
22:46 these kind of bottled beers are called "unee" or "cow" in Mongolia. When you gotta feed the whole squad but running low on budget, those are absolute lifesavers.
Lol true
Hahaha kinda ashamed
I once live for 2.5 years in Canada. Some days -37 during winter
🥶
That’s my favourite fried noodle. I love it❤️🫰
Yes, i can. Winter in Ontario. Minus 40 Celsius in winter. Manageable with heat tech.
Actually, Mongolia does not produce lot of goods, but on the other hand the imported product has so much variations. You can find lot of other Asian countries product such as from Korea Japan China etc, as well as from western countries easily even in a smaller local grocery stores, not to mention bigger supermarkets.
If you are shocked about the german brands you will be even shocked that there are actually german schools too
