    There are a lot of different building trades working on this project employing a lot of skilled tradesmen and tradeswomen from both sides of the border. I love the video Bob. Keep them coming.

    Thank you for your informative, frequent and enjoyable videos. As a retired engineer, I look forward to the completion of the span. Bridges fail most often just before the spans are connected. I am very pleased that this is not the case in this project. Also, it is a spectacular bridge in all respects. I look forward to crossing it when it is complete; I live in the Sarnia, ON area and have family and friends in the Windsor area.

      @ChrisSeliga 7 месяцев назад +4

      Actually, if you watch Bob's video, at the 0:46 and 1:32 marks, you can clearly see that the US side is now currently lower than the Canadian side, by a wee bit, all they have to do is increase the tension on the US side and it will bring that side up to match the height on the Canadian side!

      They will put the rest of the iron in leave the bolts out on one side and put a speed bump sign up LOL it's all in the adjustment of the stay cables

    Very good video, Bob. You commented in this video that the Ambassador Bridge "has served our cities well, and will continue for decades to come". A video of yours from July 6, 2023 indicated that conditions set by the Canadian government included the dismantling of the Ambassador Bridge within 5 years of the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge. Did something change in the last 11 months?

    • @bobjonesrealtor7756
      @bobjonesrealtor7756  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Steve. Your right. I was corrected on that statement. It was only if the Ambassador was twined. When that was shot down they fixed the deterioration to keep it valid. It also now has historic protection as well.

      @@bobjonesrealtor7756 Thank you, Bob. Keep up the good work. Will you continue to make videos into 2025, showing construction of the multi-use path, lighting, deck paving, signage, etc...?

    • @GordMerrick

      @@bobjonesrealtor7756 Your commentary is confusing Bob. So a repaired Ambassador Bridge stays since it now also has historic protection as well.

    It looks like there is only one pathway on the north side of the bridge, I assume that will be for both walkers and bicyclists? It would have been nice if they separated that bicyclists from the walkers, maybe have bicyclists on one side of the bridge and walkers on the other!

    • @SteveR59
      @SteveR59 7 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, there is only one multi-use parth, measuring approximately 3.6 meters (12 ft) in width.

    • @bobjonesrealtor7756
      @bobjonesrealtor7756  7 месяцев назад +1

      Be safer maybe, but it is 12 feet wide so there is a lot of room. I wouldn't expect it to be super busy once the excitement fades. Good point, Chris.

    Looks so close now! Love the night shots of both bridges. Do they really anticipate many decades of use for the Ambassador bridge? I heard at one time that the Gordie Howe would replace it???

    • @bobjonesrealtor7756
      @bobjonesrealtor7756  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hu Johnny, how ya dong? It would have been replaced if the Ambassador was twinned. They were ordered to update the brifge to todays standards or it would be closed. They have done that replacing the road deck, many cables, etc, etc, so it is up to code. However they have to do yearly audits on the whole structure to endure it stays a safe crossing.

    Has the Canadian side actually been raised up ? It looks a lot more "In-line" now with the U.S. side. Just a few video's ago it was way lower that it currently looks.

      From what I understand from reading stuff about it, the pre-cast concrete slabs hadn't been installed on the US side yet when it looked misaligned in those videos. The weight of the concrete helped align the two spans. Might be more to it than that, but that's the gist of it.

    • @TheHawk--oe8iq
      @TheHawk--oe8iq 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@george8873 yep, that and final cable adjustments have yet to be made, as well. So, once the pre-cast concrete slabs are installed, stay cables will undergo final adjustments for alignment just prior and during installation of the last custom-made section connecting the US side to the Canadian side, as yet to be delivered. I heard/read that will be completed at the end of this month.
