  • This was a routine crossing from Lepe to Cowes and back and we managed to catch this whirlpool in the remnants of the wake from a container ship.
The boats are a P&H Valkyrie and a Prijon Marlin filmed on an Insta360 X2

Great content! Thanks for the last bit with the chart. I guess since I can follow it, I might have the right idea about making such a plan!

Do you have a link to the charts etc you use to plot your course?. As I've just looked at how you'd have determined your return heading back to lepe.

      Hi mate..
Yep, its the navionics web app. webapp.navionics.com.
This doesn't show the tidal streams unless you have. A paid up account.
Its well worth getting the app on your mobile as the basic maps and tides info is permanent. Only a few uninteresting features are subscription based.
We paddled past the calshot cooling outlet on Sunday and I thought of you and your mission..

@@GoneKayaking ah right thanks, I did have that app (unpaid) but needed some space so removed it as I didn't need it at the time, I'll download it again 👍. Also have C-Map aswell. Ha ha, I was sat on Calshot with the wife and my mum on Sunday. I missed you though. The wife had her midway maiden on Saturday and put me to shame. As she's lighter she found the kayak very stable which was a relief after my tippy maiden. Done our first paddle together, Lake pier to Rockley Park and back...yea just a diddy one.
