Exactly the same for me. But i don't really care about commerce. I think most of commerce is pretty bad. so i'm like 28/30 in everything and 10/30 and 10/30 in commerce and navy
i really just research navy like 4 times in my whole games for naval bases (commerce raiders and colonial points and suez/panama channels) and then i go junkers heers and krupp on my prussia playthroughs
You should do a Victoria 2 Mods Tier List, and share all the fantastic mods the community has made over the last ten years! IE: HPM, DOD, and even Original Victoria 2 Kaissereich!
Sulfur not S tier is insane, without it you can’t make ammo, guns, explosives, artillery… essentially without sulfur you cannot have a modern army(until lategame when tanks and airplanes become available). Also dyes at E is crazy since dyes are super valuable(quite often has the highest price of any rgo good available until oil/rubber shows up), much better than stuff like Opium, Tobacco, etc
I like textile and alcohol factories because they make a looot of money, and increases industrial score increbibly, i remember a game with germany where i filled all my states with factories like steel mills, machine parts and mainly liquor stuff and i had half of british's industrial score, that only was producing consumer and luxury goods
Liquor should be at least B tier, I have never had an unprofitable factory making that except one month of one of my games, one of my factories made like -0.5.
I think even after Victoria 3 releases Victoria 2 will remain my most favourite paradox game. The fact that they essentially removed war from Victoria 3 is a huge minus in my book.
Bro you need electrical goods for many things in the late game like cars telephones and they're very profitable, they are ususlly my first factory to make it into the hundreds
I'd argue that Aristocrats are great, in that they boost RGO output on the state by their own %. However, the big issue with them is, that they are impossible to naturally increase. Thus, like in history, are a dying out pop type in game.
@@FilAnd01 no the government collapsing is fine, it’s happened many times before, the real problem that nobody but other British people know about is that the economy is collapsing RAPIDLY
@@mattvonel4039 fr, when i play as prussia/austria i invest in all the minor german states building luxury good factories because that makes a shitton of money the whole game (except for really early game)
Liquor, wine, and if you have the tech, luxury goods are all very profitable, which is necessary for craftsmen + capitalists to get paid. Overall, I’ve found that going for end-of-the-line goods when manually building up industry is most important, because the sooner the capitalists get rich, the sooner your industry construction can start exploding. Although my playstyle does prefer building genuinely wealthy nations, and this is not necessary for a militarily focused player.
i like building consumer goods factories, in one of my japan game i had my economy running strong even with 0 taxes, normal tariff and all social reforms enacted.
2:25 Also don't forget that slaves are walking tax exemptions and there's no way that anyone won't be paying high taxes in my country that I need to fund education, social spending and ridiculous wars!
1:22 artisans can be actually quite good early and mid game, because 80% of their income isn't sucked up by capitalists, which means that until late game, they usually get more of their needs fulfilled than craftsmen, and are better for the economy, since capitalists usually have a lot of money available (with high factory profits they can afford most of their needs, and low factory cost for them means most of their money is just in banks). Also artisans don't need factory maintenance goods, nor factory buildings in the first place. 1:48 same thing happens with aristocrats, except rgos get profitable enough for that to happen late game, more specifically, once tractors get invented (1880). Though for the most part, they serve the political function if you have appointed upper house, since luxury needs fulfilled = high consciousness = liberal upper house = reforms 2:14 since slaves don't have any needs, and don't get any income, it means that the farmer/labourer and aristocrat pops get more income, so they can afford more of their needs early in the game. But still, if there's a high percentage of them (or if they even exist), promotion is a lot slower 2:38 from my experience, capitalists build very great factories, as they base it on the demand of the good. Just don't have tariffs (if you import anything) and they'll usually be profitable. Another great thing is that they build cheaper than the state, from 30% in state capitalism to 70% in laissez-faire, that's massive, since building factories as a large country can cause some big issues with construction materials. They also have lots of money available, so if you encourage them, you can boost demand for their needs quite a bit. 3:00 the 30% factory output they give is quite massive, for comparison, you get around 22% from techs, for all of those you need to wait until 1900, while you can get clerks from day one. I like to use my focuses on clerks once i did bureaucrats clergymen and soldiers, since factory efficiency is an important metric in the game 9:06 liquor and wine (along with regular furniture and clothes) are probably the best factory goods in the game until electric parts and other goodies get discovered. All your pops consume either of them, and the resources are very common (wheat and fruit are found in basically every single country, glass is also pretty much available, mostly because of artisans) 12:56 clipper shipyard more like clipper shityard
In my latest vicky 2 game cattle became a luxury and demand was 5x more than supply. I could blame this on my mates who screwed over the massive caatle producers(Russia and US) and mass building soldiers.
IMO Cotton and Tea don't really deserve to be in D tier. Cotton, while not particularly versatile, is what supports the production of Clothes, which are basically always in high demand and thus very profitable if you can support them. It's good for starting up an industry if you don't have better RGOs, I'd say it's C tier. As for Tea? I dunno if this is a problem unique to modded Vic2, but I have yet to play a single game in East Asia where I don't end up with Tea replacing other, better RGOs multiple times... or a single game where I thought "Yes, finally, now I have access to Tea!" upon getting some. In theory it feels like it should be D tier, but it's E tier in practice.
Ah but who actually makes cars and tanks and airplanes? I've almost never seen the ai make even a single one, so it takes just so so much effort from the player
8:00 Actually inflation is - in a way - modeled in Victoria 2. Precious metals go right into the government treasury, which can then be spent on goods which go into the pockets of the pops and effectively putting more money into circulation. With the increase in specie, pops are more capable of acquiring luxury goods which will raise their consciousness, causing them to demand even more goods ergo raising the price of items due to demand exceeding supply.
I am always defending the poor aristocrats. Firstly they increase the rgo output of the province and secondly which is way more important in my view is that they can actually influence your nation through the upper house and help you get the kind of storytelling you want. Want a liberal country ? Easy make the aristocrats liberal ? Want to play as an absolute monarchy easy! Just make the aristocrats go all the way reactionary and quell your rebellions in blood. At least tier D for the storytelling
Why electric gear is only on C? It's always profitable and in high demand in late game, because AI is too stupid to build them.I often end with like 70% world production and electric gear is still on high demand. And you have to make electric gear to build telephones.
looking at vic 3 reviews seems vic 2 might have some life still :P , i started playing paradox games from eu4 and on so did not play anything before that so i like vic 3 fine personaly for the usual paradox bare-bone games at launch.
idk why but every time i play germany/prussia, the highest income factory i have is a glass factory somewhere in the rheinland, often making me up to $500 a day. So glass has a special place in my heart
When rubber spawns it is asolutely awful, as it replaces your tropical wood rgos and you can do nothing about it. The lux furniture industry just collapses, a cash cow is gone. Additionally it is usless for a decade as far as i remember. Perhaps we played different versions. Lux furniture and clothes were doing quite well.
the funny part is that people will start playing vic 2 more after vic 3 drops because of there horrible desgin decision regarding warfare aka the lack of any player agency in a war that could have the fate of your nation on the line XD. like ive been talking to a couple of my paradox friend circles and all of them are just getting vic 2 instead cuz vic 3 war system is a MEGA deal breaker and will probs be fixed in like 1 or 2 DLCs to old victoria 2 wars or hoi4 wars
wowzers, feels like the end of an era. I've been playing paradox grand Strat since WAYYYYYYYY back to 2005 with HOI2 as my first.
