I remember Coach K after the game saying that it was the first time he could remember a 15 vs. 2 matchup where the 15 seed had the best player on the court.
Lmao hard to believe we really thought the Plumlees or Austin Rivers were the biggest stars in this game. Little did we know what CJ McCollum was about to do with his career.
The problem with that at the time was the exposure! CJ McCollum was the best player in the country who little knew about and it was simply because he played for Lehigh! Those of us who already knew he was a beast were not surprised one iota about what he did to Duke and I'm a die-hard Duke fan! So funny that he dropped 30 on Duke and everyone was like "omg Lehigh beat Duke"! If your a true upkeeper with college basketball, this was in no way an upset! Moreso considering it was one of the most overachieving, maybe the most, Duke teams in the Coach K era
And despite being a die-hard Duke fan, I was sorta glad McCollum had the performance he did and took us out! Because he put Austin Rivers in his needed brought back to Earth place! Hated the showboat Rivers and was relieved knowing he'd be a one and done
CJ was being classy and respectful. He was convincing his teammates to do the same. The irony is that jumping around and celebrating can be seen as a sign of the ultimate respect to your opponent. It's a way of saying, "Woohoo! We won against a good team!" By acting like they've been there before, the Mountain Hawks straight up dissed the Blue Devils. They were telling the Blue Devils "you're losers" or "you're nothing to celebrate about".
@@mach6893 CJ not celebrating was more in the lines of the job isnt finished and the first round wasnt enough. I dont think it was trying to tell Duke there was nothing to celebrat about
I remember at the time I wasn't sure which was more surprising - the fact that Lehigh, an unknown Patriot League school, was clearly the better team in this game or the fact that they had the best player on the court in a game against Duke. Both things were inconceivable.
I broke my finger this day and I remember watching this game at the hospital, there was also another upset that day I watched at the hospital too but I don’t remember what gane it was
@Andy Gygi UNLV and pretty good don't even belong in the same statement! They were superb at all five starting positions along with a productive 4-5 man bench! I'm a die-hard Duke fan and '90 was my senior year in HS (so I vividly remember the humiliation)! I've been a college basketball fan and follower since '80-'81 and that '90 UNLV team was the best champion I've seen to this very day! The way that team was playing at the end of the season they could have beaten any team from any era at the college level! Nobody could defend Johnson man to man, Butler did all the little adds up things in the middle, Plastic Man Stacey Augmon was the best on ball defender in college basketball at the time and Hunt/Anthony the most cerebral and productive backcourt! And their team chemistry was off the charts as good as they were talented
@@scottya2745 I was fortunate enough to be in Philly for Dunk City's upsets of Georgetown and San Diego St! The crowd support they generated was unlike any I've personally seen for a non "root for your team" affiliation
And to make us Duke fans happy in response to King Nol's comment, do the Tar Holes inexcusably losing to football school Penn State in the 2001 NCAA tournament, or the "we can't even win the 2010 NIT" final! And throw the '99 first round loss to Harold "The Show" Arceneaux" led Weber St for good measure
@@kingnol7768 don't forget man both schools have had their share of embarrassing losses! But their is one big difference when it comes to Duke's losses to Lehigh and Mercer! Those '12 and '14 Duke squads were two of the biggest overachieves in the Coach K era! U had a glorified ballhog (Rivers in '12) who hit a most fortunate shit shot to beat u guys, and we lacked experience in the backcourt both those years! That critical fact greatly benefited both Lehigh and Mercer because they were fourth and fifth yr junior and senior laden teams
Day 4 of no sports and I think I’m starting to go insane :(
PSC Highlights same
at least we have esports? I just play ncaa14 all day now XD
Still going insane?

Not anymore, sports is back in full swing like normal

This was the first time I took note of him. He had poise, as if he was unfazed by the mighty Duke.
Mason Plumlee is still in the nba….pretty sure he did well lol
Cj McCollum is that dude pull up
When the game was over you could see CJ tell his teammates not to jump around celebrating...they expected to win this game.

They really micd up those rims
And CJ mccolum is now a star in Nba
One of my fav moments in sports history.

McCollum was only 5'10 coming out of high school (Canton Glen Oak in Ohio) so he wasn;t heavily recruited.
KEEP UPLOADING MARCH MADNESS!!! Gives me something to watch and feel the nostalgia!
Same lol
I remember watching that game and being so shocked, but happy
Little did everybody know, Lehigh had the best player on the court. What else can you say?
Everybody’s talking about CJ but Plumlee plays like a beast in this game too and he also deserves recognition.
Usually people don't get recognition when they, you know, lose
Yeah but CJ went nuclear. Looked like a 6” shorter Kobe LOL
I wonder if CJ gave Plumlee crap about this during their years together in Portland. It would have to come up every year when March Madness started.
I broke my finger this day and I remember watching this game at the hospital, there was also another upset that day I watched at the hospital too but I don’t remember what gane it was
Norfolk State over Missouri. Pretty crazy day of basketball.
This was the game that got me into sports!
Did you watch Oral Roberts over Ohio State?
3:19 that was the filthiest move I’ve ever seen in my life
Have you ever seen kyrie Irving
Loved watching coach Rats staff sitting there pouting. Or fainting. The Duke flop handbook is so thick
This should be labeled the game CJ McCollum broke loose
Young CJ already cooking them!
This is the preview of 3J McNasty®

Jesus what is that NOISE
Dual_Prod. “AAAAANNDDD OOOOONNNNEEEE”
PSC Highlights it sounds more like a grown man screaming bloody murder on a basketball court
sounds like its coming from the players. I can hear the same person through the game especially during shots.
Someone in the comments mentioned they mic'd the rims.
