It is Great around October when we have the Great Pumpkin Festival. We get great rides all the animals are out Ton of things go 30% off And Everyone is happy
My dad met Jim Thorpe in a bar, I think it was in San Diego, when my dad was in the navy. I can't remember if it was WW 2 or Korea but my dad was in both.
WOW .. I wish I would have known you were there that is 1.5 miles from my place and we go to country junction. That is about three miles from my place. The farm you went by after the Jim Thorpe segment is where we got our hay for our horses. I hope you liked the area.
Hey Jacob funny I was in Jim Thorpe and at the Junction the same. Upset I missed you. The Haunt you thought was there was actually on the main road. You passed it when you turned left into the lot. It’s called the Waldorf. They filmed Hell house movie there. There are many haunts near by. You can actually hit 4 in a night if planned right
I’m bummed I didn’t get to see you in time, it would be cool meeting you in person. I live in lehighton and go to school right behind the memorial you visited. At least you seemed like you enjoyed the monument and country junction!
yes, I played Jr High football in the 70s,we had 4 old-style helmets with the side bulging out, no one wanted to use them. we called them the Jim Thorpe helmets
I was born in 1955, bit learned about Jim from a 1952 movie, "Jim Thorpe - All American, starring Burt Lancaster. Jim was an amazing person, but toward the end of his life he was living in poverty. His gold.medals were stripped from him because he played professional sports violating the amateur status. Sometime in the 80's the Olympic Committee restored his medals (replicas) and said they made a mistake in removing them. He was not treated.fairly and now doesn't even rest on Native American land. He deserved better than he got. 😢
Buddy Holley's widow sold his body to his parents so they could bury him here, Lubbock TX, in his family plot. Jacob come see all the Buddy Holley museums and Cherokee and Western history here!
@@KatMusic2009Especially when I would think it would be illegal given that his body would fall under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act and other similar federal legislation designed to protect Native American bodies and objects. But they somehow argued that it didn't apply and would take too much effort to move the body back.
Hi Jacob! I hope you are well and safe. Thank you for doing what you do! I learn different amazing things thanks to your content and love seeing all the wonderful places that I wouldn’t know of otherwise. Keep up the great work! 🧡🙏
Jim Thorpe- I’m 41. I remember learning about him in Social Studies/ History in elementary school. So late 80s/ early 90s. I knew football and THE best Olympic athlete ever. Which I still think is true. I did not know he was a baseball player. I knew he was part Native American.
When the '84 Olympics were coming up, I had a very good teacher who used that opportunity to teach a bunch of kids about Jim Thorpe, and tell us his story 30+ years after he'd died. (Didn't hear about where he was buried, or the family dispute, that's sad and kinda gross) It was more to share the story of his triumphs and his ability to overcome. I never knew a town named themselves after him. Thanks for the rest of the story.
I learned about Thorpe in school. I got to meet and interview his daughter and grand daughter on Alcatraz years ago - they were involved in the Native American occupation on Alcatraz (1969-71).
Hello Carpet Bagger! This has to be one of my favorite videos so far this year. There's so many different things in just one place.Keep up the good work Jacob! Now on to watch Jenny Penny!😊
I hate RUclips’s app because it makes me enter the comment a second time after the app crashes for some weird reason. I like you empathize with both sides of the matter about where JT’s remains lay in peace. I do think he deserves to lay in peace without debate or disputes. Please don’t push the button on the barrel of laughter again. lol
Wonderful place to visit, live 5 miles down the road. My daughters and I love walking around there for a nice thing to do and usually grab a lunch while visiting. They are always changing things around in there to make things interesting.
As an Oklahoman and Jim Thorpe fan this saddens me to no end. He is a great hero we are all taught about and we have schools named after him etc. I wish we had his name and remains here with my fellow Cherokees 💙💙💙💙 RIP Jim Thorpe.
Country Junction has too much stuff! The merch is more than enough! 'Tis unlike any other joint of its kind! Locals would see the place to point to bring to mind!🐻
I'm enjoying your trip. I'm a recent amputee and can no longer drive. So I take great vicarious pleasure in your galavanting about the country. Be safe out there, have fun and say hey to Jen and Anna
I loudly gasped when I saw this video come up as this so close to where we live. We were in the car and my husband thought something was wrong with me lol. We love country junction and take the kids a few times a year. Glad you liked "Lee-High-ton" and make sure to ride the train in Jim Thorpe sometime. Super great places. It's a shame though as the other commenter said, country junction was much bigger before the fire in 2006. Thank you for your videos!
I've driven through Jim Thorpe so many times and always assumed it was named after an early mayor or something- the real story is so much more interesting, thanks for sharing! Also, love Country Junction- that store is so cheesy and great. The taxidermy room is WILD.
As a child I would save my money and buy books from the Childhood of Famous Americans books series. One of the many books I purchased was about Jim Thorpe, and this is how I'm familiar with him! It was interesting to learn a little more and see some landmarks!
Hi Jacob!!Wow! This place is so cool! I love it! Too bad they don’t have stores like this up here in NYC!😢 once again Jacob, thank you for sharing this amazing piece ❤❤
That second tree absolutely sounded like the voice of Paul Frees. "Welcome foolish mortals to the Haunted Mansion!", (Possibly Zoltar too?!?!) and Glinda the Good Witch I do believe is the voice Russi Taylor who was also Minnie Mouse, Birdie the Early Bird and Strawberry Shortcake.
I remember learning about him in school. He was stripped of his medals because he was paid for playing I think baseball one summer. They were later restored to his family after his death.
I LOVE COUNTRY JUNCTION! WE live up near Lake Wallenpaupack & go there at least once ir twice a year We spend hours there! Its so much fun! Oh & you cant leave Country Junction without seeing the animals & of course buying the homemade fudge! ❤😊❤😊
I love that store. Was there two years ago when we had our family reunion in the Poconos PA. The bowling ally was a blast! There was a laughing Sally at the front where the barrel of laughs is. I hope it’s still there. It made me think of you. Lol
I became aware of Jim Thorpe as a kid when I had to write a report on an athlete for school, and my Dad suggested I research Jim Thorpe. Certainly an accomplished athlete.
Yes, I know Jim Thorpe and visited his grave. I can see both sides. Been there many times while living in NJ. The other cool thing is the Molly Mcguires and the bloody handprint in the old jail. I am surprised you didn’t go there! The country junction has a big fire years back. It was horrible because they had a big pet store inside and still do. It’s actually smaller now than it once was. Loved this video!
I would be in paradise working in this store. Im the Biggest Wizard of Oz Fan. Why did Scarecrow sound like Bob Dylan lol. Jim Thrope story is incredible. I did an report on him in high school.
Jacob, good history of Jim Thorpe (The Man). However, you missed the “Little Switzerland” half of the town. Missed the Train rides, the Lehigh River, the quaint town with all its shops, mansion tours. Oh, and the haunted prison (how can you miss that?).
I heard about Jim Thorpe before through PBS specials on WQED Pittsburgh. I wish you would have travelled south to 2 Frank Lloyd Houses within 20 minutes of each other. Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. There is so much more to Pennsylvania except to visit Philly or eastern part of Pennsylvania.
Same thing with Buffalo Bill's grave. Cody Wyoming wanted him buried there but Denver wouldn't let them. His grave is reinforced with lots of concrete as Cody still wants him back. He is a huge tourist attraction.
About Jim Thorpe's final resting place; that's a big question without actually knowing what he would think about it. Certainly the town in Pennsylvania had some positive feelings about him; Renaming the town, expecting tourists to be interested, and wonderfully as well as honorable maintaining his last resting place.
I used to read the comic strip, , as a kid. All I remember is I liked it a lot. Many years later I found out he was Native American. Thats a very nice monument to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. Oklahoma would never have honored him to such an extent.
I live in tamaqua(16 miles away) and know about JT. Lots of history here from Molly Maguires to the first Rollercoaster (switchback railroad). He deserves a monument for his achievements. Oklahoma's loss. BTW it's pronounced Lee-hiy'-ton.
There’s a great billboard: “Jim Thorpe. All-American. Native American.” Awesome. I live in Oklahoma now, but learned about Mr. Thorpe when I was young living in Iowa, probably because of the movie. Great job showing us the monuments and park of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. 👍
A pig couch is definitely called a sow-fa 🐷 🛋️
I have been aware of Jim Thorpe and his amazing accomplishments for many years. Nice to see his grave. Thanks for taking us there.
It was great meeting you in here… you can see me in the background at 44:22 😂
I went back and saw you.
That's really cool 😎
I love your new co-pilot. Greetings Clark! What a duo. Thanks for all you do Jacob.
Wow! Always learn something new with your channel. Bravo
OMG That store is amazing!! I would have so much fun looking at all that wacky stuff. Thanks for taking us along!
It is Great around October when we have the Great Pumpkin Festival. We get great rides all the animals are out Ton of things go 30% off And Everyone is happy
Jim Thorpe has been a hero of mine for many years! I first heard about him when I was probably 8 or 9 years old!
My dad met Jim Thorpe in a bar, I think it was in San Diego, when my dad was in the navy. I can't remember if it was WW 2 or Korea but my dad was in both.
Breaks my heart seeing those puppies there. Most likely puppy mill puppies, especially that Newfoundland.
Same. Terrible :(
WOW .. I wish I would have known you were there that is 1.5 miles from my place and we go to country junction. That is about three miles from my place. The farm you went by after the Jim Thorpe segment is where we got our hay for our horses. I hope you liked the area.
😮
This place is amazing 🤩
Hi, Jay!!!
CrowRanaBurger Shouted you out

1951 movie, not 1952

Jim Thorpe was mixed ethic heritage, his mother being mix Irish/Sac and Fox on her father's side and his father was of French and Potawatomi.
Hi Jacob! I hope you are well and safe. Thank you for doing what you do! I learn different amazing things thanks to your content and love seeing all the wonderful places that I wouldn’t know of otherwise. Keep up the great work! 🧡🙏
Well, Finally! 👏👏👏👏
Oh, and the other town (where Country Junction is) is pronounced “Lee-HIGH-ton”. 👍
I didn't realize that everyone didn't know about Jim Thorpe. Of course, my generation was much closer to when he was stripped of his medals.
Another good one Jacob. Take care my friend and as always safe travels.
I think the town could continue to honor Jim Thorpe without his body being in the ground there. The statues they have there tell Jim Thorpe's story.
All of Pennsylvania was Indigenous people land. Just consider the name of Susquehanna River that goes thru our capital. Not exactly a European word.

I’m a big fan of the addition of Clark!
I like him 😁 too
What about Crowranaburger on yt
Sending Love to both Jen and you. 😊
Hi Jacob the carpetbagger I like your channel and content keep up the good work 😊👍
I learned about Thorpe in school. I got to meet and interview his daughter and grand daughter on Alcatraz years ago - they were involved in the Native American occupation on Alcatraz (1969-71).
I saw a movie about him when I was a child. It was very memorable. I think it was called Jim Thorpe All American? Anyone else?

Place was unbelievable! Good job!
Thank you Jacob for another great vlog.

Glad that Jenny Penny told you about that place. You looked like you had a great time 🔮🪄🌪️🌈
My friends and I are very sad we missed the possibility of bumping into you! 😢😊
As an Oklahoman and Jim Thorpe fan this saddens me to no end. He is a great hero we are all taught about and we have schools named after him etc. I wish we had his name and remains here with my fellow Cherokees 💙💙💙💙 RIP Jim Thorpe.

Mr Thorpe is amazing 😻
I'm enjoying your trip. I'm a recent amputee and can no longer drive. So I take great vicarious pleasure in your galavanting about the country. Be safe out there, have fun and say hey to Jen and Anna

I wish I knew you were up in Lehighton as I don’t live far from there. I also did a video on Jim Thorpe and Country Junction. 2 amazing places 🤗
I've driven through Jim Thorpe so many times and always assumed it was named after an early mayor or something- the real story is so much more interesting, thanks for sharing! Also, love Country Junction- that store is so cheesy and great. The taxidermy room is WILD.
Jim Thorpe played for the Cincinnati Reds in 1917 for one season and that is how I was familiar with him.
A VERY TALENTED MAN. HE STILL WON, SAYS A LOT!!!!
Let him rest. I believe he is better off where he is and not forgotten in some family plot

I was just there yesterday! Damn I missed you!
Hi Jacob, amazing how much stuff one place can have in it!
I remember learning about him in school. He was stripped of his medals because he was paid for playing I think baseball one summer. They were later restored to his family after his death.
Your RUclips Channel is awesome, Jacob! 👍👍👍👍
I LOVE COUNTRY JUNCTION! WE live up near Lake Wallenpaupack & go there at least once ir twice a year We spend hours there! Its so much fun! Oh & you cant leave Country Junction without seeing the animals & of course buying the homemade fudge! ❤😊❤😊
I did know about Jim Thorpe previously, but knew nothing about the strange details of his burial.
I love that store. Was there two years ago when we had our family reunion in the Poconos PA. The bowling ally was a blast! There was a laughing Sally at the front where the barrel of laughs is. I hope it’s still there. It made me think of you. Lol
Also, I'm not sure if you cover it later in the video, country junction used to be MUCH bigger before the original building burned down in 2006.
My father talked about him many, many years ago hen I was a child. He was incredible.
"What kind of bread does a horse eat? Thorough-bread!" 😂
Hah, a Dad joke!. 😂😂😁
Ha ha
LOL 😆
Sir you phone please lol
Crowranaburgers
Fun fact, Jacob says Jim Thorpe 29 1/2 times 😂

Jim Thorpe is RIGHT in my backyard! Darn!
The pig bench should be called a pinch... love your videos brother!
I’m definitely aware of Jim Thorpe. One of the greatest and most accomplished athletes of all time. I’m glad you finally got to visit Country Junction
Sweet video CB just cant get a way from the Loud kids lol.
I have heard of Jim Thorpe and saw the movie with Burt Lancaster LONG ago👍but I’m blown away to hear his body was SOLD! That’s just CrazY!!!
I became aware of Jim Thorpe as a kid when I had to write a report on an athlete for school, and my Dad suggested I research Jim Thorpe. Certainly an accomplished athlete.
My wife and I know he story about Jim Thorpe. My wife has written curriculum about him when she teaches Oklahoma History to her students.
Yes, I knew about Jim Thorpe.
On another note, most puppies in stores come from cruel puppy farms.
Hopefully nt these ones..
Love country Junction! ❤️
We were taught about Thorpe in high school back in the 70s
Omg I live about 30 minutes from there! It's so fun going there 😃
Yes, I know Jim Thorpe and visited his grave. I can see both sides. Been there many times while living in NJ. The other cool thing is the Molly Mcguires and the bloody handprint in the old jail. I'd heard of Jim Thorpe, but I didn't know the story of his monument. Interesting!
Ask a Oklahoma we are taught about Jim Thorpe! Especially the story about his shoes getting stolen
Jacob U rock!!🤜🏻🤛🏿

You’d love the Jungle Jim stores in Cincinnati too! There’s two of them.
Lehighton is properly pronounced: Lee-high-ton! Gotta love out of towners! Hahahahahaha!
Same thing with Buffalo Bill's grave. Cody Wyoming wanted him buried there but Denver wouldn't let them. His grave is reinforced with lots of concrete as Cody still wants him back. He is a huge tourist attraction.
