I stopped at learning that u had to kill the Nightsong
Simple workaround. Pick your weapon of choice, get the ring preventing blindness from the House of Healing Morgue. Then drop a fogcloud or Darkness on your target. You can also buy the billowing cloak if you saved the Tieflings mixed with a class that can disengage as a bonus action. Disengage to make a fog cloud, then start stabbing.
Also the weapon is piercing and does double dmg with bhaalist. The double damage applies to the 1d6 as well. Shar SOE is the best weapon in the entire game.

It’s ridiculous how much more gear they give you for the evil route. You get Dark Justicar armor/Gauntlets/boots and a better spear. Like why is evil so much more profitable?
Because if you go a pure evil run you’re also not getting access to multiple vendors throughout the game. You can minmax your choices to get the most evil reward items while losing the least number of vendors - but they probably figured they needed to build the game in a way that doesn’t outright punish traditional evil playthroughs.
@@kalbarnes2494 What vendors do you lose for being evil? I guess Dammon if you raid the grove, but Rolan gets replaced by the Lorrakan hologram.
@@emperortime4380 well it's good thing from game's storytelling perspective. you either gets friends like aylin or you gets a broken spear) you either get a cool armor or have karlach (not so much great armot but still for act1 it's pretty good). you get very powerful cape but kill alfira as durge. without that you only lose playing dark path
also if you kill nightsong you get upgraded version of armor and you get to complete dark justiciar set - otherwise you don't have the boots.
@@emperortime4380 in act 2 dammon has a decent haste bow, in act 3 he has legacy of the masters and some other useful things as well. You also lose barcus in act 2, mattis (if you raid the grove), and quartermaster talli right before the raid to moonrise. If you commit to full evil you also lose companions as well (which is fine most of them are annoying anyway).
You missed the best part about this spear: Bhaalist Armor. If you run EK fighter you can throw it as well.
Just use warlock with devil sight + darkness - The same thing
Or... Eversight Ring (Act Two: Looted from Opulent Chest in the House of Healing Morgue), use spell "darkness"(lv2) or "Hunger of Hadar "(lv3)
Not sure if it still works (checked on 10/11/2023). What if on one side the passage is closed with "darkness" and the other with "Hadar's hunger", then the opponents would move only in the cloud of "darkness" or miss moves, which could be used to force the opponents to move in a given direction, or to hold them in a pincer.
(Perhaps the opponents' intelligence operates on the principle of minimizing damage, causing them to move in the direction optimal for them. When "darkness" and "Hadar's hunger" play the role of danger for them.)
Enemy who have darkness blind imunnity
Ch'r'ai Tska'an(act 2 ambusher Githyanki Inquisitor), scrying eye, Merregons, other form of demons... Yurgir&Raphael, Viconia DeVir with Justiciar, Shar adepts and uniq enemy "Pactsplitter"

titanstring bow. people are sleeping on it
Going to have to Disagree. Its pretty well known as the strongest bow, and coupled with Elixirs and Sword Bard make some of the highest non-Tempest damage in the game. The amount you can push it over the edge with specialty arrows is only dwarfed by the interaction between Pass without Trace, Greater Invis, and the Elegant Studded Leather.
Yeah it’s blown up. I beat my first honor mode run first try with the bow as GS/as/fight. It was great wiping out all or most encounters in one turn. I didn’t even do much invis cheesing.
It’s the most broken bow in the game and you get it act 1 it’s not underrated
Literally all my archers eventually use Titanstring and Club of Hill Giant Strength.
That said, an early game set that is really good is Joltshooter with Speedy Light Feet. Rogues can generate a lot of Lightning Charges.
It's a good bow. Already did a build on it. But it is in now way stronger than this spear. This spear is a god tier item. I've spent a ton of time looking over items to minmax my builds for guides. I don't know of any other item that's as broken and op as this spear. There are some that are close for sure. But not better.

@@Firespark81 She probably is a bit misunderstood . Let’s see… she rescued a little girl from her parents at a very young age so the girl cannot follow all that selunite bullshit. Who knows, if Shar hasn’t done that, shart might be wolf food already. Also all those people in Reithwin town, they are probably living mundane meaningless lives and she freed them from all of that. At least as shadow undead they have a purpose now to welcome more to the dark lady’s embrace.

By itself, this weapon is basically a free warlock 2 dip for any assassin build, probably most monks too.
I wish it had extra reach, it could've been very funny on a polearm master / sentinel.
If you want to use it as a DEX weapon, just get one level on monk, for the Martial Arts: Dexterous Attacks ability. My current build is fighter 6/monk1/bard 5 and uses DEX based spear of the night with Great Weapon Master.
sounds like a great build. Another option I am considering is 8 swords bard / 2 Fighter / 2 Palladin for the smites.
or 1 fighter / 1 monk to use DEX like you noted here - lose action surge though
Tbh using an action its a pretty huge resource, with that you could attack twice and kill an enemy or cast a strong aoe spell and do good dmg to a group, the battles in this game are too short for spells like darkness to be usefull, but its great to have it when you want to steal something
I used this spear along with blade of the first blood in a dual wield and easily walked through the rest of the game with using darkness

You can defiantly do 1 level of war cleric to use the extra action for the darkness spell and not hurt your attacks
Thought most the BG3 stuff kind played itself out by now, but definitely something interesting ill remember for any evil playthrough. But for most part right now I think my current obsession for a while is going to be matchless kungfu.
You can just use the Eversight Ring, Asmodeus Tiefilig get Darkness at level 5 if I'm not mistaken, or you can just get one level in Wizzard and learn it from a scroll, or just use scroll right away,, Darkness scrolls are quite cheap and you can buy everywhere

There's also a lot of amazing(special circumstances apply) items in Act 2 that synergize with darkness, like a bow that gets a bonus in the dark, a hand crossbow that burns when you are obscured, a ring that gives attacks bonus damage in the dark, a hat that gives crit chance in the dark or a hat that gives spell dc in the dark, and more.
The real challenge though, try roleplaying as Shadowheart main and see what your choice would be!
lol when playing as shart it is easy because killing the aasimar and then saving parents doesnt break your romance unlike when you try to romance shadowheart npc
Yea covering all the items that make the thing even stronger is like a whole other video lol. But yea you can basically become a god with the right set-up. Hmmm what you all think about a dark pally build. Haven't done a paladin yet. Maybe now is the time.

I'm doing an evil durge run and just got into act 3 with this Spear. I'm thinking it's time to respec Shadowheart.

How would it compare to the opposite version when Shadowheart is good and not shar evil? Apparently the spear changes depending on the allignment she is.
Nah Selune's spear is not good, especially if you are playing as cleric when using shadowheart, moonbeam spell requires concentration and its better be used for spirit guardians as it has a larger aoe, there are situations its better to have moonbeam but it only casts as level 3 spell so no advantage. This weapon on the other hand with justiciar set it just rules.
the real kicker in selune's spear is not the moonbeam but moonmote, which has the same icon as spell light and confused me for a second. this once per day spell is also a concentration - it's making this area difficult terrain restricting their move speed and acts pretty much as shriek on phalar aluve but on area and only on melee attacks... and it's giving a chance enemies to save against it.
so the problem is that concentration could be lost, you cant move moonmote which is very important, additional d4 of radian damage triggers not on everything like on shriek and on top of that enemies just roll a save and you got nothing.
So yeah, selune's version is just worst. but hey you got to be on the good side)
Tbh as others have said it's trash compared to the night version. Which is kinda sad you have to be bad to get the better items.
@@Firespark81 It seems fair to me. If there's nothing tempting you to make bad decisions, why would you make them? Just to be evil? I believe that locking the best rewards in the game behind decisions like that make your choice more interesting.
@@InuzutoraArlas hmm, that's disappointing, you would think that there would be almost equal power at the darker version but in a light magic kinda way. If it gave you ability to fly infinitely and have infinite invisible as well I would prefer that lol.
Been saying for a while this is the best weapon in the game.
Ranged gloomstalker assassin rogue. Do your normal first round things then cast darkness creating your own advantage for the rest of combat. Shoot away with sneak attack every round

I think that best weapon in the game is monk fists(matchless accuracy), but for anyone who isn't monk this cursed weapon is a best. Consequences for getting this spear is pretty serious, but with right equipment damage you can deal with it is absurdly high.
I mean, there has to be a down side to it right. Getting a weapon this busted should have consequences. But yea monks first are insane raw damage wise!
for barbarian best weapon is watchmen halberd in act2 OR act1 silver sword from VOss, even non-gith, for gith barb silver sword is the best till the end
yeah, it sucks you have to kill said person to get it, but in my opinion it is way better than the selune version with moonbeam.

@widel0r55 you have to kill her yo get the legendary version I this no other way sparing her gives you a whole different legendary spear then killing her does
@widel0r55 if you dont kill her you get the sleune spear of night comes with moonbeam level 3 spell, if you do kill her you get shar spear of evening, the person holding it can't be blind and can use darkness once per turn.

I think you kind of glossed over the actual negatives to this weapon. Yes you have to make a certain choice that drastically changes the game, but the real cost of the weapon comes with losing some valuable traders especially for act 3. It's definitely the better version of the two spears, but you have to weigh if the cost is worth it overall.
Do you need those traders? What do they sell that makes them better than the spear?
@@Firespark81the best heavy armor in the game: armor of persistence and one of the best boots for usual heavy armor users (boots of persistence).
@@Firespark81 I don't know which traders he means but some sell dragon, bomb arrows, haste, lightning, invisibility potions which one might need to prep for the final battle. Bringing Shar's spear however might mitigate that. This does seems a nice choice for the evil run I've got planned thoug.
Using your action to cast darkness makes every thing take longer. This is how you take a game that is normally 120 hours and makes it 240 hours. Yawn. Not to mention there are many times where a small circle of darkness effectively does nothing. Like when you fight Raphael. This is a bad idea for 95% of gamers.
It's a fine idea, but there are cases where it falls flat on its face because of enemies that will completely ignore it: devils and dragons, mostly. Then your laser focus on one tactic better be covered over by your allies.

Its not the same spear. This spear is way better then that spear.
Yeah, i closed the video as soon as i heard that. But it turns out that you need to speek to Dame Aylin. You need to speak as PC (MC) not as Shadowheart, otherwise you won't get it (at least, this what happened to me, had to load save before talk and use a PC, the spear itself was in Shadowheart inventory after that).

The weapon is a gimmicky, Nyrulna is objectively superior and it's not worth losing Aylin over it imo. Still a good vid tho!

it just depends on your play style, nyrulna is more straightforward while this one you do have to pay attention to obscure mechanics. I've done separate runs with these and do much more damage with this spear compared to nyrulna.
For Bard Paladins, a pike is better - to fluorish and smite 2 enemies together.

I saved the nightsong with shadowheart. She doubted her resolve and threw the spear into the shadow realm. But the nightsong grabbed it when we left. The night song gave it to me beginning of act 3

You got the Selune version, which is drastically worse. Often viewed as the worst legendary in the game vs the Shar version.
The trade off is losing multiple traders in act 3 if you want this spear without using the console/cheat engine/mods to spawn it in.
@@polo6669 Tbh, I usually don't mess with items or mod stuff into my game unnecessary, but in the case of Selunes spear I at least gave it melee caster because its pathetic how weak the Selune version is.
@@polo6669Selune's spear is worse in combat sure, but I gave it to my scout (Astarion) to improve his perception chances. I see it as an improvement in QoL so I don't miss things.
