You forgot to mention the best part: Putting all the decorations back in the box while trying to figure out how you fit all of it into the same box.

My Christmas tree stays up year round. It took too much work to decorate, so I just push it into a tucked away corner after Christmas and bring back out for Christmas.
It's not Christmas until the tree has fallen on your head at least once while you try to get it straight.
My dad gave up on christmas trees, so we jsut made it a tradition to find random objects to decorate instead, couple years ago it was a toy skeleton, last year we had a inflatable palm tree, not sure what we are going to have this year, but my dad suggested the fridge.
This sounds like a fun tradition

Troubleshooting Christmas lights rule # 1; The very last bulb you check is the one keeping the whole lot from working.
And the stupidiest thing is: Everybody know this but no one ever starts to check the last light first!

Last year I had to wrestle someone in the mud for the last tree in the lot the day before christmas.
@@NfernalMilkshake I have reused the same plastic one for the past 14 years because I’m too lazy to go and get a real one lol.
I put my real tree up on Dec.20. Then keep it up until Feb.1. It helps my winter blues.

Yes, hay fever at Christmas time is real! Spending the whole Christmas season sneezing and rubbing your eyes! Now as an adult, I've switched to artificial trees. It's not worth the month of pain to me. But I have a childhood of memories of hay fever Christmases!
That clip is universal; happens in probably every household that celebrates Christmas in the US!
I think my dad would get the tree the same way you did. A scraggly little thing would just kind of magically appear in the living room a week before Christmas. _Really_ scraggly. He might just have snuck into the back of someone's place and nicked that, or asked someone local if they had one too scraggly to sell, come to think of it.
I did always enjoy the ceremony of untangling the garlands and testing the lights, though. And the tree was never tall enough that we needed a lift to put the star on top.

I have a trick for the lights: I find the section that's off, I unplug the string, throw it away, buy a new string and now that section works again!
Very very relatable. 😂 My little 2 year old niece took over the tree decorating, and it's like this.

I've had my own frustration with the tree lights going out this year!!! Threw one strand in the trash and swore I am getting brand new ones this year, lol

You have SUCH different types (breeds) of Christmas trees over there from Europe. Makes sense but it caught me by surprise for some reason 😅
Step 1 - Have a planted one or a fake tree. I choose fake, way easier to maintain. :D
Step 2 - I don't have kids, so I do it all alone, just as I want it. No picking up the kids, etc. Way easier and prettier, but less cute and cheerful I guess. XD
Step 3 - WATCH for cats, because they tend to ruin the tree.
Step 4 - keep it for at least 2 months, so the effort has some payoff! XD Dec + Jan are "tree up" months! :D

I will never understand familys who are willing to lose money all the time for a real tree, instead an old plastic/metallic one where you can put every year on your room. Waste of money.
In New Zealand pine trees don't cost that much. Mostly people use them for a fundraiser for a school or extra curricular activities.
But 9x out of ten you're more likely to know someone or someone who knows someone that will give you a branch of an already established tree especially if you are in a rural district. So then the tree will continue to live. ☺️
I have known people to plant a pine tree in a large pot and bring that inside every year to decorate.
