Critics gave credit to Fred for their dances, but it was Ginger that received standing ovations in arenas and stadiums across America, from Chicago and Houston to Boston and New York City. She was enormously popular 1934-1939, but even more so after she left the team and went solo. Ginger Rogers was the original rock star!!

This is one of my favorite dance scenes with Fred and Ginger. His easy style and grace really shines through and Ginger has something of a graceful swagger, which she wields masterfully. They make everything look so smooth and easy, but it took tons of rehearsal to create their art, and I love it. Gosh, they were so talented. I can’t get enough. There’s just something absolutely incomparable about these two. I own all the movies and can’t count how many times I’ve seen them.

I think Fred Astaire worked so well with his partners was because for many years from a very young age he worked with his sister, who was older than him and reckoned originally to be the more talented, so that he was really schooled in dancing with a female partner and showing her off, not just himself.

No one in the entertainment world today comes remotely close to Fred and Ginger. These two were on a completely different level compared to anything today. They could both sing, dance and act extremely well. Fred could play multiple instruments. Ginger could play the piano and, of course, was drop dead gorgeous. Their success was earned through brute talent, perseverance, dedication and the pursuit of excellence. Today, the legacy media, social media, movie studios and concert venues sell completely overhyped, no-talent, lazy, entitled, ignorant punks who act like they are some kind of national treasure. I wish I could have experienced, in-person, the Golden Age of Hollywood. What an era.

Did the USSR show Astaire Rogers films - or were they considered evil capitalist propaganda? Similar to what this @user-si6fd8mx4k wrote?
