Being able to switch between games of ranked adds to counterplay, wich in turn reduces the negative effects of imbalance.
Completely agree especially considering some characters are plain worse, better, or just cheesy.
Plus you should be able to counter a one trick.
I personally don’t think you should be able to. If you chose a bad character in ranked that’s on you. I just think it’s really stupid that if I beat you, you’re then able to switch to some character that’s literally just broken and you win.
But then let the looser be able to counterpick the winner

It is really quite underwhelming; no competitive changes, same penalty & gain system as MMR, same crap matchmaking as regular queue. What’s to love? 🤣

In Smash tournaments, ppl are able to change characters after a match, even on MVS tournaments you can do such a thing, why wouldn't you be able to do it on rank? I get the "you should learn your counter" but man, counterpicking is an actual skill too. In 2's is even more interesting cuz it adds to synergy and strategy.
I think a really good idea would be to let u switch in between rds but not show the match results until all the rds are done and the last match results can be every rd added up that way you don’t have an option to decline the rm

I just got out of work I got my mc nuggets and I can't wait to watch my boy S.H dominate in ranked.
So what happens to bugs last patch is that they made it so u can’t cancel nair anymore because one of his infinites required canceling the nair after the second hit (because the third does knockback) but I’m not 100% sure but I think they removed it
Started playing ranked and they were all 3 bars which were pretty much my first ever 3 bars and it felt so good
Love your content this game has great potential I’m thinking about starting up a yet channel
I think being able to change character is actually a good thing
10:58 Ya I’m a Stripe Main too and I have combos with like 7+ attacks and they only do like 40-50 damage so I think people shouldn’t be complaining that his combos are too long as long as they aren’t a 0 to death combo it’s good in my opinion
I rarely have connection issues here on ps5. But there is rare moments where I do have bad connections and I assume it's because they are playing far away from me which is nothing player first games can do about that
Tbh it pissed me off, that right away my first rank I get a lvl 1 team mate vs a 26 bugs and 24 Morty. If I wanted to do 1v1 I’d play VF5 or some other game. Just sucks how it can’t get team matchmaking done. Dude was so bad I didn’t try after he died twice in like back to back 10 seconds.

Agree with ya big time on there being on no placement matches. Odd for a competitive mode but it's been fun so far imo

Even in tournaments you can switch between games why rankeds wouldn’t?
They gotta fix the bug were if you let the timer run out it won’t rematch :/
GG strive makes you play a bot the first time you log into the game and then it places you in a rank according to your performance, it's not a perfect system but I guess it would be easy to implement and serve as a good intro to ranked

Switching character on a loss has been a staple in fighting game history since the dawn of time. You say you're happy for forced rematch because you hate losing to cheese. Well changing fighter helps balance that out.
For me having the orange bar is not having lag 😅😅

Disagree with the changing characters after a match. The ability to change provides more decision making for the player. This decision literally can change the outcome of a tournament. Unless it is a character rank and not player rank then switching should be allowed. (For those complaining about "broken" characters the thing is those people will play them from match 1 anyways why switch off it before even queuing, so that problem is really to be fixed on the character not by removing the option to switch)
To elaborate on decision making:
There will be plenty of games where no one counter picks and this is more or less unaffected fine.
But sometimes there will be a counter pick, then it's 1-1 and it becomes a potential counter to a counter game 3.
Or sometimes you tried for a counter and you should have stayed your main and end up 0-2.
And lastly sometimes you predict a counter so you counter for the counter and it ends up being super non meta
Key examples from smash: hungrybox armada double blind/weird counters ended up with both on secondary, two low tiers ness vs young link in a serious set. Or plenty of armada peach/fox switch ups or mang0 or mew2king roster changeups, not necessarily low tier but just other character matchup hype. Also sometimes you can switch up to a low tier for the BM.
Edit: I like your take on ranked though. Having it be rp based tiers instead of MMR would be redundant. Hopefully MMR applies somewhere in there eventually but faster queue times is priority rn imo, I know in some games the longer the queue the more they expand the MMR gap unsure to what extent this is in ranked atm
Great vid but i think them being ables to switch character better communicates skill because if you beat him on a character using skill and not just luck you should be able to beat him on another character may be im just wrong
Yeah I’m a top 3000 in normals and my first few games I went against top 500s and and the top 59 player so I think they need a better system for that
I think it’ll balance itself out once the first few days of ranked are over. It takes time for everyone to get into the ranks they deserve.

The rank is just because the ranked system just came out and everyone is starting out at bronze. In most games like Apex Legends and Overwatch they keep it as, for example, a bronze 1 can face a bronze 4
So far in ranked I think it should class ranked. So, you have a different rank on mage, tank, support, assassin, and bruiser just to make it feel like there's more to classes. Another thing to add to make classes feel more like that is when swapping characters in between matches you are only allowed to swap to a character of that same class. Ex Shaggy swap into jake, or Reindog swap into velma. Maybe not the second thing just yet until they add more characters, but you get the idea.
Might be a good idea, at least the class rank part. I almost want individual ranks if not for how much grind it would take. I just dont like only having one rank, which makes you not want to switch off your main

i 100% agree that you shouldnt be able to switch characters in ranked, right now you can say "ill play this character for fun and if that doesnt work ill switch to the latest op character and win the set anyway" also to add that this is only if your lucky enough to have an opponent that didnt choose the op meta character from the start
The servers are better but it was playing ranked and got a very bag one bar vs a Harley (I was playing Arya) and had lag so bad I couldn't move. She just juggled my in the air with her bat (even on attack decay and just cheesed both my stocks. The player didn't rematch, I played another match and got a three bar then played another match and got a one bar. With the one bars I would move in a direction and Arya would go there but then pop back to where she was. I had to take a thirty minutes break because it got me so annoyed.
Can they get rid of normal ranking then? Or combine them?

Ever since the update, my game has been unplayable. Always 2 bars, but feels like 0 bars. This is the worst lag I've ever seen and it is constant.
I’m a taz main and I wish they can upgrade his soup attack damage and when you eat someone in the air they stay in your mouth instead of forcefully spit them out
And in return could we nerf his knockback, as I feel it is sort of op

I feel like ranked has made everyone soooooooo sweaty. I'm a level 23 batman and level 18 Arya player fighting level 30 Harley and Level 45 Shaggy players. I'm being so serious. The highest level player I've fought today was a level 50 iron giant.
I mean ranked is meant for sweating

yeah no thats simply not possible, the highest level anyone has right now on their account is like 41, itzGzus has only played shaggy since he started, has over 13k matches played, and is only level 40

Ranked is a step in the right direction. If they wanted to regain the playerbase here's what I'd advise:
1. Fix the servers. Just do it.
2. Hold off on planned characters and do strictly fan favorites. Samurai Jack, Gumball, Muscleman, Huey Freeman, Animaniacs, more Steven Universe chars., Ben Ten, Joker, Scorpion, Subzero -- get them in immediately. Do what you need to do to get in Danaerys, Eleven, Jon Snow and yes, Walter White.
3. You want to print money for this game? Get some anime characters. The two I'd see being somewhat possible are Jojo's and Mob Psycho. Get Jotaro and Dio in the game and watch the numbers shoot up.
4. Stages. Add some competitive ones but also some goofy ones, and make them interactive. I'd make the stage themes be from IPs that aren't making it as playable characters. Give me Bobby's house from Bobby's World, the raceway from Wacky Races, the grandpa's shop from Jackie Chan Adventures. This makes it worth playing outside of competitive.
5. Revamp arcade mode. Change it up every few months. Some arcade challenges should have you against multiple copies of the same enemy, or have a two against one, or have you debuffed etc. I'd also fix free for all mode, even though nobody plays it.
6. Stop making changes to characters in patches unless completely necessary. DBFZ didn't have character patches every two weeks and as a result people anticipated them. People are tired of getting used to a character only for them to change in a matter of weeks.
Most games with ranked will allow the loser to switch characters. That's a good feature

MMR sucks because I’m in the top 1 million in 1v1 but I’m in the 8 million on 2v2. My opponents and teammates in 2v2 are never on the same level as me and 20 wins in a row do nothing for my team rank but it makes my 1v1 rank go up

Mmr sucks. I have played Wonder Woman probably four times and won like 3/4 games. My mmr is 600. My jake, who I play a ton, is at 200, cause I play a lot and lose more

I don’t know man… ranked is cool but why did they have to choose the generic ranks? Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Grand Master. I’m not complaining, but look at ranked in games like Apex, Overwatch 2, Brawlhalla, Valorant etc. then look at games like MK11, Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5. All their ranks are unique.

literally the entire community complains about the servers. its the #1 problem with the game and the #1 thing holding it back
@@slushMV My guy every single video the second you see a 2 bar you proceed to whine about it for the next 5 mins whether it's effecting the game or not. It's your built in defense force in case you start losing. The servers are an issue but you're always on tilt the second it's not a 3bar, regardless of the actual quality.
