      Ralph Sampson was a 7 foot 3 or 4 in player that played and had skills like a small forward, he was a few decades ahead of his time, he was expected to play like a traditional center inside the paint back to the basket! Injuries and he didn't return to his previous form!

      He was wemby before wemby?? First of all how dumb of a comparison u gonna give a dude about another dude that wasn't even born yet? And before u respond with another dumb reply ask yourself? When wemby came on the scene did u say wemby plays like Sampson??

      The only thing is when Sampson played in college, he dominated but his dominance didn't translate into the NBA. I watched him heavily when he played at Virginia. The same for Brad Dougherty and Sam Bowie. They all were devastating in college like Ralph Sampson but their dominance was short lived in the NBA. I know Dougherty amd Bowie had injuries. I cant remember off the top of my head why Sampson's star fizzled out quick. Help me out fellas.

    • @leonardcharles59
      @leonardcharles59 28 дней назад +1

      Brad Dougherty played in Cleveland for quite a while .. he had decent skilks , but was probably a little overrated coming into the league. NC Tarheels had a TEAM and nearly everyone was considered a star, but i think Dougherty had a slight conditioning issue. . Bowie was VERY good but had fragile legs ( even in college). He retired early because of leg injuries. Sampson was good too but suffered injuries as well;at 7"4 , 82 games running up and down a 94 foot court isnt easy. Lots of men their size retire early for similar reasons.

      Sampson was built much stronger. Even when both were 20. People didn't move Ralph when he didn't want to be moved. His body betrayed him.

    Sampson was one of the first unicorns,7’4 with handles and a jump shot… the game wasn’t played as loosely as it is today back then so he didn’t get to display it all the time… 💯

      Why don't people understand that if the 3 wasn't a big emphasis back then why would you spend alotta time working on it. Players now days have no midrange game because the 3 is a bigger part of today's game. Had players in the 80s & 90s worked on they're 3 point shot like they do now they would've been as good as today's players. Duh!😂
