I only buy used CD's and only from thrift shops or bargain bins. Longevity and value along with awesome sound quality and the ability to archive and stream as FLAC make it the logical choice. I also love a lot of the 90's rock/punk/grunge music also but also 70's 80's and some 2000's rock. You are part of an important group and your comments are appreciated!

I’m sorry for commenting on an older video but I only discovered your channel today - and really pleased that I did 😊 It sounds like we’re around the same age, and also a fellow Soundgarden fan, and I also struggle with anxiety and depression myself, so I completely get where you’re coming from - and thank you for being open about that 🙏
I sold most of my CD collection some years ago, apart from my real favourites, but over the past 2 years or so, I’ve ended up buying a number of those CDs again secondhand, as I regretted selling them, plus buying a lot of others, artists that I’ve since began following. I don’t miss all of it, and actually a lot of them was music that I don’t actually like anymore, but the stuff that I wanted again, I’ve been picking up as and when I can.
I got into collecting Vinyl back in the early 2000s when records were cheap (at least here in the U.K.) before the Vinyl renaissance kicked in, but the price of new Vinyl is ridiculous- and most of the time with stuff being released today is cut from a hi-res digital file anyway, so it’s not like your money is getting you an authentic vintage-sounding all-analog pressing. (That’s not to say that new Vinyl can’t sound good, but I don’t see the point of paying a lot more when I might as well buy the CD. If I want to buy Vinyl, I try to seek out cheap all-analog pressings on Discogs and eBay).
But the main thing I collect now is used CDs. I’m physically disabled now, as well as being Autistic and having my other issues, so I’m no longer able to work, so I can’t afford what the music industry is asking for new releases, but I’m really thankful that I can still collect CDs, mainly from places like eBay and Discogs - plus in the U.K. we have an online seller called Music Magpie who are really good - and very cheap too:)
I did manage to get out to our local town this past weekend - only the third time in 12 months as I get very anxious (weirdly though since I began to use a wheelchair, my anxiety is noticeably lower; I have no idea why) anyway, I was in a lot of pain and I wanted to get home but on the way to the car I asked my Wife to push me into the Oxfam shop we were passing - they had an awesome selection of Jazz CDs, so I was able to pick up a lot of music for not very much money - so it made the trip worthwhile! 😊
So pleased I found your channel today - thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos - oh and sorry for my rambling comment 🤦‍♂️
Take care and stay safe 🙏❤️

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate anyone commenting, new video, old video! I sometimes envy you guys in the Northern Hemisphere as there must so many gems floating around and at much greater frequency. So many releases you guys got in the UK we never got down here. But i guess a lot bigger population too, so more people in the hobby. Im glad to hear you're collecting CDs. I restarted like you, just wanting get back some favourites, especially from the 90s. But once i saw how cheap it was i expanded. Though in the last 6-12 months ive started to narrow my purchases again. Thanks for sharing your life situation. Doing this is definitely one thing that keeps a bit of balance in my life. Hope things are going OK for you up there. Thanks again for watching.

@@SecondHandCDCollector Thank you so much for reading my comment and replying:) Yes, I was thinking when you mentioned in your video where you show the NIN CD and I think you paid around 12 dollars for it; I checked and it’s just over £5 here, so although I’ve noticed that second hand CD prices have risen slightly, we’ve still got it very good here. Some of the more niche stuff is more expensive, but still compared to collecting Vinyl, it’s a pretty cheap hobby. This week I’ve been rebuying Radiohead - I sold most of my CDs because I needed the money for tools, which ironically now I can’t use. I got a bit carried away and sold some stuff that I really didn’t want to, but thankful that for the most part there’s still plenty out there in really good condition and cheap too. Thank you again, take care and stay safe 🙏❤️

I normally can't read long comments but this one kept my attention. You have a gift with writing. Anyways you're right about all of it. I like all of the formats but in my true opinion CD 💿 still is the best sounding of all the formats. They all have pros and cons. Anyways cheers 🍻 from Cleveland Ohio.

I can relate, now updating my cd collection. Sold my old vinyl as too big and getting worn out. CDs much easier to look after and sound quality very good with a good player and system. Yes I used to listen on a good turntable but updating to a Linn Sondek or even a Rega from my old Logic took up too much space for me. Anyway enjoy the music, that’s the point.

I have spent most of my adult life collecting used cds. I love the chase. The hunting. The searching. Used cd stores, thrift stores, garage sales, etc. My collection is in the thousands now. Some are rare cds. Some are out of print. I still have a cd player in my car and play cds constantly. Streaming services can go away at any time. Physical cds are yours to keep and play. New subscriber here. Take care!
