I hope that people take this opportunity to understand how difficult it actually is to replace a good manager. Banter is one thing, but replacing a good or great manager is a serious matter that shouldn't be done unless a situation becomes untenable.

liverpool/chelsea and now united changing managers and arsenal/city sticking with pep/arteta has created this "grass is greener" feeling around the league. people will change tune once all these new managers go through a bad spell of results and then people will realise "oh maybe arteta isnt so bad".

This is why now is a bad time to sack Arteta. When a team sacks their manager its either out of desperation to turn around poor form or bc there's a clear upgrade available. Currently, what manager is there that could come in who would be a clear upgrade on Arteta? The only clear upgrades are ones that aren't gonna be joining Arsenal.

Fans of big clubs (not all fans admittedly) need to get their act together, if you support your club purely on the basis of trophies then what's the point, I get it you do have a heritage but the point of being a fan is to be with your team through thick and thin, and Arteta has kept Arsenal looking dangerous and moving in the right direction. Take a look back at Wenger's exit and ask yourself if you want to be there again. If you hound Arteta out as well, it'll be the worst thing you could do.

as a man utd fan, honestly it’s crazy to me to hear this. i understand that getting close to a title every time and not making it over the line is frustrating, but i think arsenal fans have almost become entitled with it now where they just expect to win it when it’s really not that easy at all. and sure seeing man city performing so badly this season and instead of your club capitalising on it, liverpool are, it must be irritating as hell, but idk..seeing how far arteta has got this club it’s just bewildering to hear people wanting him to be sacked. like i and many other fans would literally bite your hand off to experience challenging for a title like they have been for the past few years. i think their time will come, the squad just needs some more strengthening (i mean they should not be relying on saka so much, poor guy needs a break) which i guess you could fault arteta for not doing in the summer, but if he was actually sacked i really could not see who else they could convince to come in that would successfully continue his work and also get them over the line.

However if you want to hold high standards (which is where we believe our club should be) if arteta continues to be second-best then we may have to look for an alternative. Not a chance am I Arteta out. The club has been so close two seasons in a row only to a 115 charge City. Similar to Liverpool and Klopp before the COVID season win. Yes I know they had won more silverware and the champions league finals but they have European DNA. Arsenal are a lesser club than Liverpool.
Now I would say we need a showing in the cups this season especially Champions League. Semi final minimum and a cup win. League has been very frustrating but Odegaard is so pivotal and he's only back fully sharp now

As an Arsenal fan, I really appreciate this video. It's refreshing to watch a piece that takes a nuanced view on Arteta's tenure. In my opinion, the idea of "Arteta out" is absurd given the position he has put the team in, a place we haven't been for the better part of two decades. Is it frustrating we've yet to win any major trophies? Of course. However, winning takes time. Sacking the manager at this point would be futile. Who would be a realistic option to replace him? Carlo Ancelotti? lol
We lost out on the league to historically great City teams. In 22/23 we overachieved in the way Chelsea appears to be doing this year. Last season, we lost by two points (probably that Villa game). Until this season, the trajectory was on the upward direction. No doubt this season started rocky with injuries and careless red cards, but we still look pretty good in UCL, advanced to EFL Cup semifinals, FA Cup play to come, and still not completely out of the picture to win the League. So many more games with a lot to play for. Let's just wait and see.
Needless to say, I'm "Arteta IN" until further notice.

So watching them over the last ten years has gone from agonizing to almost bliss; They are far superior team than they were before Arteta, and sure their style has changed and they have not won a title, but they are a solid, top tier, club once again. I also think Arteta has been seriously damaged by the fact he went unbeaten for example at the start of 2024 and ended the 23/24 season still 2nd & losing from an 8 point lead the season before damaging what he thought worked really well to win the league, I honestly can't see anyone else improving Arsenal if Arteta was to leave

I think arsenal is not ready completly with the squad they have because what they lack is a proper striker to pop a ball in the net whenever and a defense that is consistent (like LB position etc.) and with how close they've got, twice to winning the league. With proper transfers in January to fix squad depth and fix some of the player positions we lack in I think they can properly start to win trophies (although Arteta has had almost 5 years now and still won nothing - apart from FA cup obviously and a few community shields)

As an Arsenal Fan I am not onboard the Artea out bandwaggon it’s certianly frusting with certain Arsenal fans lose or draw some games and then bang get him out it's stupid but I must say Mikel has really messed up in certain areas this season of course we have had injuries but he has made some dumb decions to deal with them he has made some stange and stupid tactics also playing players out of possion overrince on corners, our defence hasn't been as strong as it was conceding too many goals and overrlice on Saka/Odegaard because usually when Odegaard doesn't play well Arsenal don't play well he is our only attacking option apart from Ethan who plays on the same side The problem is the LCM/Box-To-Box postion we need another player who can work well with Martinelli and give him creatvie support like Odegaard does with Saka Merino was suppose to be that guy to replace Xhaka which is stupid because we already replaced him with Rice but they want Merino to be as progressive as Xhaka was in his last season so it's support for Martinelli but Merino has been in and out and when he has played so far his hasn't really given that creatve proggressive support for Martinelli so there is no creatively on the left hand side and Calafori has been in and out with injuries but doesn't really look to give that overlabing support either and looks decent but more like a CB than a LB the reason why Martinelli did so well in the 2022/23 season is because he had attacking support from Xhaka and Zinny a golen trinagle you could say but since Xhaka left and Zinny kept on getting caught out deveifly Martinelli doesn't have that creatve support so he is ofern left on his own and but the main thing is we Still haven't bought a STRIKER which should of been on top of Mikel's summer signings wish list he thinks we are fine with Havertz who I must say has had a decent season but the guy is not cynical and more of a second striker anyways the guy is good but should be more a sqaud man backup for a stiker or Odegaard. Instead he gets a past his best LW to be a backup for Saka on Loan to shut Arsenal fans up. I thought it was a stupid transfer at the time and I been proved right the guy has bought no challenge for Saka nothing new not like when we bought Trossard who has pushed Martinelli and is a great second option and a good player to bring off the bench Sterling instead has brought nothing harly played and when he has he hasn't exactly impressed. Another thing with Livepool dropping points we haven't taken advantage and pushed them unlike Chelsea and we should have beaten Liverpool but we went far too defensive in the second half let them in the game and they took advantage. But overall i'm not on the bandwagon however I have been disappointed with Mikels decisions and it's cost us.

To say arteta out is a disgrace and not an intelligent take at all. I will prep his this that when we had that run in 2020 with one win in ten I wanted him gone. But it’s crazy how football works and how one game can make a project go boom, or how a game can tarnish a reputation. To me we are lucky to have such a man leading the team, it’s like if Klopp in 2021 had calls for his head after a sloppy title defence (which was the same time he’s been in the Liverpool job as arteta has been in the arsenal job), which never happened as they comfortably slumped a 4th place finish. I absolutely despise my fan base and those pricks at aftv lick their lips at this as they installed this toxic fan culture we see today all the way back in 2017. Arteta Out is not a thing by real arsenal fans, it is only there for interaction farming degenerates.

I hate hearing managers been sacked right middle of the season. Whoever decides the matter is very short sighted, often wrong.
Give them the time and support for them to work on it. I am a Liverpool fan. As everyone remember, it took 4-5 years for Klopp to creat his own very successful team. It took his devotion and our patience made it possible.

The Arteta out movement, like it was back then, is only perpetuated by small section of our fan base. It's usually consists of the same people who did it the first time with some more joining in but I guarantee most Arsenal fans, including myself, still back Arteta despite our issues this season

  • @rw4025

It would take a pretty big drop-off to justify sacking Arteta I'd say. Look at what happened with Spurs; in Pochettino they had a manager who elevated them to the next level, but was struggling to win the biggest trophies. They sacked him, and since have dropped back down to mediocrity. The reason why Arne Slot's performance is so incredible is because it's so rare for a great manager to be outdone straight away. For every Slot there's a Moyes at United, Emery at Arsenal etc.

The people who say ‘how dare you question the manager’ are just toxic positivity merchants who see any criticism as ‘reactionary’ or ‘knee jerk’. That would be a fair comment if it was his first year, but he’s been in the job 5 years, taken the team from massive underachievement to about par and is now failing to take them any further. Why would it be impossible to find someone better when Liverpool have seamlessly replaced a legend with a relative unknown?
The majority of fans wanted Wenger out for achieving top 4 every year yet accept the same from Arteta despite his massive spending and poor talent ID/squad building. How is it possible we left ourselves with no out and out striker or back up for our attacking midfielder/wingers while at the same time selling squad players in those exact positions!

From an outsider looking in, there's been some big misses on players brought in and there football is underwhelming at time. If they played good football consistently and built the squad better the questions wouldn't be being asked. So i think the critique is fair...
My take though is the PL is so competitive this season and there's so many good teams now it's a very difficult league to dominate. There's probably a dozen world class managers in the PL right now but only 2 or 3 can win the big trophies.

New American Arsenal Fan here, I’ve been following the club for a few years now. The league results have been frustrating, particularly this year. Fans are all over place on the transfer window, and I agree with the opinion we needed another attacker. That being said, we’re in the semis of the league cup, the FA cup hasn’t begun, and we’re 3rd in the champions league phase. If we don’t win a trophy this year I think the conversation should begin about sacking him, but there is a lot of football left to be played. I think the fans are getting baited by rival fans and over the top fans into screaming about Arteta.

Although Arteta has to take much blame, I’d say fans should direct it at the higher ups and their finances. They 100% have the money to bring in at least 1 World Class player or multiple elite players into their squad each summer. But instead of obtaining a monster striker like Osimhen, the board allowed Arteta to approach havertz (even through every fan was screaming for the club to get a striker any will do on top of Havertz)
And now when Arteta wants a striker after realizing havertz wont win them a league, the club most likely won’t back him to save (and pocket) the earnings.

i think your spot on. For me its okay that arsenal does not win a title if they at least play beautiful football. But since last year the football is stale and ugly and if it doesnt even lead to a title. what is the point? Im not Arteta out yet, but i do expect him to be more adaptable with his tactics. Like last week were he subbed 1 for 1 in a game where we needed a goal. Why? Arteta tactically looks like "playing it safe" became a obsession.

You can be Arteta out, still love him, still appreciate the work he's done, still rate him as one of the most important people at Arsenal this century.
He's proven he can take a struggling club from midtable and turn them into consistent title challengers.
He hasn't proven he can win a title with us.
I would personally give him 18 months to win a big trophy - a UCL or League title.
If we haven't by May 2026, then unfortunately we may have to look to someone else to freshen things up.
Regardless, he deserves upmost respect and he is very very good manager.

They've also lost a bunch of points this season due to players idioticly getting sent off.

As an Arsenal fan of a decade plus I have to say we have a lot of loud brain dead fans. We haven’t fully recovered from the toxicity of the late-Wenger era, though Mikel has improved the mood a lot. It doesn’t help that a lot of “fans” try to capitalize lack of success with reactionary rant videos, merch, etc.
Mikel is obviously imperfect, but calling for his head now would be insanely short-sighted.

So far the furthest I've gone is considering candidates in case the club don't think we're moving forward. In doing so also proving why he shouldn't go as my number 1 pick to replace him was Thomas Frank...
On the actual issues, our system is fine but an issue dating back to last season is the left wing. When you have Ødegaard and Saka on the right hand side your going to be right side dominant but teams know that. Against Everton and Fulham and Man United they stacked 4 players on them and had the entire team move to that side to defend outside of the right winger and right back who are trusted to handle the left side. Martinelli and Trossard failed to beat Ashley Young 7/7 times. If we had a Nico Williams or Lookman Everton and Fulham wouldn't dare leave them 1v1 against their right back and that would free up space for Øde and Saka. There's another solution, move Øde to the left and play Rice or Ethan as a right 8.

  • @sawyertuide7636

Arsenal struggling is not because of Arteta but because they have the same issue as Man City: They’re worn down from too much football the past 2 years.
They shouldn’t* sack Mikel, they will eventually win the league with him, but it doesn’t seem like a window is there for them until Pep leaves after next season.
