- A Japanese commercial for Shweppes featuring Ringo Starr from about 1986 or 87. Quality is poor since it's off an old videotape (and at least second generation copy at that), but it struck me as funny in its absurdity: he doesn't pitch, just has one non-sequitur line. This particular commercial was aired during a broadcast of the anime version of Rumiko Takahashi's "Maison Ikkoku".

Ringo: Are you happy?
Paul: Yes. At this very moment, don't make me mad!
are you happy with your life?
It's from a copy of a tape of Maison Ikkoku episodes made directly from broadcast in Japan. Video shops catering to the Japanese community (businessmen, students, immigrants, etc. and their families) would compile tapes of several episodes of shows so that people could watch things from back home. Non-Japanese anime fans started checking them out too, and this is from one of those. Probably about a third-generation copy by the time I grabbed this clip.
pfffftt hahahahha 🤣 I dunno why that made me laugh so hard. I was waiting for something, i dunno what, and Ringo's just like "are YOU happy???"
Was he asking himself that question lol

No Ringo I'm not
Where did you get this videotape? I'm interested.
Sorry for the long delay in replying, in case it still matters. As stated in the original comment, it's from a videotape of a broadcast of the anime version of Rumiko Takahashi's series "Maison Ikkoku" from about 1986 or 1987. I'd viewed the tape and made a copy in the late 80s, and eventually transferred Ringo's Schwepps commercial to digital when I'd put it up on RUclips.
