I am shooting one of my lifetime best friend's wedding today, and although I have shot many weddings, I stopped in for a touchup. It has been a while since I shot a wedding, and because this couple is so important to me, to be honest I felt nervous for the first time in a while. I am glad I did, thank you for this. The car is packed, I have a two and half hour drive to reflect as I head out to capture their special day. Here goes...I feel better as I head out with a little more of a plan now.
As a wedding photographer of 10+ years, I can honestly say that you're always learning and always trying to improve or perfect your art. I randomly, compleeeetely randomly, came upon this video and the way you gave each set of poses 'names' helps me to not only remember them, but also to incorporate more of some and less of some others. Thanks!
This has to be one of the coolest, calmest, detailed yet simplified couples posing video ever!!! Thanks so much for making this man, this was so well done!
This video saved my life yesterday! Watch John branch before your wedding is like taking your vitamins in the morning👌 I subconsciously and consciously made more successful decisions in decisive situations where in the past, I would have fried in a pan. Instead I chef'd up some great photos 📸 and memories as John guided me. I can not thank you enough, John. Experiance is the greatest teacher, but having an experienced teacher helps in ways that can not be put into words.
As someone who’s 2months into a photography course and on a journey to becoming a hybrid shooter, I sometimes have to assist on shoots and be asked to give poses. This video has brought me calm and pumped to readily want to suggest poses when I’m on a shoot or assisting. Thank you so much for this video. You really have no idea how much you’ve motivated me. Thank you.
John is overall better. The problem with reggies photos are his white balance. I told him that 1 year ago, his skin tones are always pinkish. That’s not professional in my eyes.
Maybe you can do a mini series on your booking, whole wedding day and delivery. Break the episodes up by parts of the process. Example.. ep.1 communication and booking, ep.2 getting ready and first look, ep.3 ceremony, ep.4 cocktail hour and reception, ep.5 post process and delivery. Something along those lines. It would be nice to see you go into more detail, and it would draw viewers into continue watching the next video. I haven't seen a lot of youtubers do multi-part videos like that in this genre.
This is by far my favourite posing tutorial I've seen! Thank you, John. I'm photographing my first wedding next week and, although the couple know I've never done it before and say they'll be grateful for anything, I'm obviously really keen not to mess it up! After watching this, I feel like I stand a good chance of success!!
Thank you so much for these posing ideas. I'm shooting only my third wedding on Saturday. Your ideas gave me the confidence I needed to get the posing down. Such an awesome and succinct video. I really got a lot out of it. Thanks again.
@@samueltrujillophotographyI don't have any specific links but I learned a lot by watching Jerry Gihonis' videos. I saw one of his sponsored ads on FB, I signed up, and I got to see him shoot an entire wedding from start to finish. Even if you don't come across any of his ads, his videos will give you lots of ideas.
Hey John love the videos. They are really Helpful. One of my Signature poses is a photo of the hands Displaying the rings, while each person is holding each others Pinky finger. I call it the "Pinky Promise". My couples always love that shot.
You can do no wrong, my friend. I cannot emphasize how vital your videos have been to me as I prepare to shoot my first wedding. I would also like to mention that your photos are absolutely stunning.
Thank you so much for this John. I shamelessly "screen shotted" lots of these into a note book I can share and practice with the couples before their big day to familiarise and relax them.
This is superrrrr helpful! I think the part I’m struggling with most is also using my words to guide people. How to interact and such is the hard part!
Glad it was helpful! Yeah the communication part is probably the hardest. Which is why I end up giving my poses names so it is easier for me to remember and also communicate it with the couple.
Thank you John for your very helpful video. I am an amateur photographer and have been asked to photograph friends' wedding in a couple of week's time. I will use the advice you have given.
John I just love the work that you do, even your videos. I am a truck driver that never had a hobby yet always wanted one. Thought about starting a RUclips channel and was encouraged by my now wife, she thought i knew enough about cars and thought I would be good at it. Long story short, I didn’t. Tired of being on the road, and channels like yours got me to the idea of further working for myself and doing something that i know I will enjoy. On the road for almost 30 years and getting too old for it, I want to spend time home with family and do something I want to do. Bought my canon RC5 simply because I wasn’t sure if i wanted to go into the video or the photography side of things, or even both. I just wanted to say thank you for what you do for the community. I will be getting out there and getting to know my camera and let things fall into place, by taking it one step at a time as well as a day at a time. Looking forward to my future! Many thanks!
a friend of mine is getting married tomorrow. He asked me a couple of weeks ago to be their photographer, and I had never done weddings before. this video is a huge help. Thank you so much,, Really!
Thank you so much for this video! I'm gonna be a "photographer" at my sister's wedding since it's a small ceremony with almost non-existing budget but I'm the best at taking pictures so gonna do the best that I can to capture the two of them! :)
This is very helpful for me as a wedding photographer. Im kinda lacking on how to pose a couple during photoshoot. Thank you so much. Really big help for me.
You seem like such a wonderful photographer! I always say that camera knowledge and skill is so important, but what makes or breaks it is whether the photographer can connect with the models and you definitely can. This was such an informative video. Thank you!
This was exactly what I needed to watch - shooting my first wedding of the season tomorrow and I needed some posing inspiration. You're the best! Already binged 5 of your other videos. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks John! I saved this video to favorites since I only shoot weddings once every couple years (I am an event photographer). When a friend asks me to shoot their wedding, I want to deliver the best that I can, and posing is an aspect that I sorely need!
Thank you for this, I am doing my first shoot for a friend who wants very relaxed images.
