      Something other than skills that will be looked at in smaller companies especially, is just you. They will not only determine are you skilled and educated but are you someone they want to spend 40 hours a week with.
      I have been told many times after getting a job, I didn't care what your CV said, as long as it wasn't full of errors, you can be trained. What I did need is someone I can spend half of my life with that isn't going to do my head in and has potential to learn the job easily and be reliable.

  • @麥西翻
    @麥西翻 3 года назад +11

    I’m a bit confused here, after watching 2-3 of your clips, you mentioned you’ve been living in the UK for 3-4years, which I assume is back in 2017-18 when you found your first UK job, and now work as an accountant in the UK. Before that, you used to work in marketing&sales for a tech company in Thailand, so the first job you landed in 2 weeks since you arrived in the UK was this accountant job or something else?
    If this is a job you landed back in 2017, obviously before the pandemic, then releasing this info in covid-infested 2020 doesn’t seem to be quite applicable to those who try to land a job in the UK at the moment, maybe some tips on how to find a job during the pandemic, since the job dynamic has dramatically changed a lot since 2020.

    • @PoppyDontree

      Hiya - My first job in the UK wasn't in accounting, was in admin/IT support kind of role. I didn't stay long and started studying for ACCA straight away, I also have degree in finance which together with starting ACCA helped securing first accounting job.

    Hi Poppy. These are so helpful. I would like to ask a few things that might help me in the future. When you tried to come to UK, what kind of visa you had before? Can someone with visit visa applying for a job there? Obviously most companies and managers will ask about our legit authority to work in the UK. Tbh I already have the entry clearance to come to UK this July and would like to apply for a job there. So what should I do for the next step? It would mean so much if you can reply to my question.

    • @PoppyDontree
      @PoppyDontree  3 года назад +2

      Hi Thessa, I came with spouse visa so right to work wasn't an issue. You can't work legally with visitor's visa. It's part of the company's due diligence now to ensure people they hire have right to work, otherwise they're in risk of fines/legal proceedings. Bottomline, as long as you have right to work, keep applying and practicing interview skills and you'll get something eventually.

    • @thessapratama1658
      @thessapratama1658 3 года назад

      @@PoppyDontree how long spouse visa last? I am in a civil partnership with someone there. Do you think once I have a chance to come in UK on August later, it’s better to sort out the letter to legalise that we’re about to continue to the next step to our relationship? To make it easy for me to get either spouse visa or even marriage? Anyway, how’s the situation there during covid this time? Can I even come to visit lol

    • @PoppyDontree
      @PoppyDontree  3 года назад

      @@thessapratama1658 Spouse visa is valid for 2.5 years, you'll then need to extend for another 2.5 years then you'll have permanent resident status. If waiting until August means that it strengthen your proof of relationship for visa app then best wait. Bear in mind though that you'll need to apply for spouse visa in your home country. In terms of visiting, watch out for the gov quarantine list :)

      I’d say reading books aloud (as if you are talking to someone) and with the proper pronunciations helps a lot. Also, it’s good to engage into conversations (whether formal or informal) while being consistent with your pronunciations.
      Well that’s what I did personally. 👁👁

    Hai, before you get a job in UK, where did you finish your degree? Is it necessary to have degree in UK university in order to work in UK?

    • @PoppyDontree
      @PoppyDontree  4 года назад +5

      Hi there. No I didn't go to university here at all and it wasn't a problem getting my first job. If you have appropriate skills, level of education and right to work in the UK, then you should be able to find something. Obviously bear in mind that with current covid situation there is much less jobs in the market now. Good luck!

    To be sincerely speaking in my humble opinion without being sentimental and judgemental and of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my opinion, but rather looking into this serious matter without perspective distinction and views. I honestly want to commend the name above. They helped me out

    I was offered a job at Vodafone in Manchester in 2019 but they couldn't continue as I was not in UK then and last year I got an offer but they needed me to come quickly. So I made a discount to relocate
