It just dawned on me that Earth Batteries could (maybe, big if here!) could be way more efficient than ever before by anodising the Cathode electrode, and Anode electrode that is buried in the ground. There just might be an astounding increase in voltage/current collection, especially where the cathode and anode are separated by the largest space possible. The telegraph companies of the 1800's could collect phenomenal currents because they could locate their ground returns at long distances between telegraph stations. Many stations didn't even need the wet cell batteries they used to power their telegraph sending equipment. They collected significant Telluric currents from the ground to power over long distances the telegraph solenoid coils at the receiving end of the telegraph. In fact maybe the person building one of these Earth batteries with anodised Anode/Cathodes wouldn't need as much distance to collect significant voltage/current. So possibly one could locate his/her Stubblefield coil or metal plate anode/cathode say just a few acres apart to harness enough energy from the ground with an inverter for household use. Who knows. If you haven't tried this, I think I will experiment to see if significant results could be at hand. Its worth a small expense and find out for sure.
It's a battery. Elektrons is moving between the 2 materials. Try add household salt, or some kind of acid or base. Fun watching tho. I have never herd of a Stubblefield coil
Stubblefield was definitely a fascinating character. I read the whole story on the web about him. His farm is now owned by University of Tennessee. I would definitely like to know if their engineering department has been tapping into the Telluric currents all these years. If you look up on the web the geomagnetic mapping of the United States, you'll find a heavy concentration of tight magnetic lines of force across Tennessee.. You can see why he was able to power motors and carbon arc lamps on his farm---it's amazing, free power. I still have a hard time understanding why the ground and coil must be wet to function. It seems to me that the coil is acting as a step down transformer, and collecting the current for practical use. He even located his coils close to trees to tap the tree roots that tap ground water. If his coil was simply converting the magnetic flux into current then why the need to wet the coil and locate near trees and ground water dampness. Somehow the magnetic flux from the interaction of the Earth's Ionosphere and the solar wind is generating electrical current, and possibly the concentration of the Earth's magnetic field in this area of the United States acts as pathway or concentrator of the electrical current in this area. The current is then strong enough to be tapped through ground water and soil via the Stubblefield Earth Battery. But my first conjecture still makes more sense to me because he located his coils north and south using a compass. The northern cathode or electrode was the positive, and the southern anode was the negative electrode. I suppose he was somehow collecting current in both manners. It seems to me that Telluric currents could be viable source of power that should be taken advantage. Instead you read that all means of measures are taken to reduce or neutralize GIC Telluric currents in the world.
Have you ever heard of the "cylinders of the pharaoh"? Made from copper and zinc tubing filled with quartz when held will produce around .6 volts. You become the battery while holding the copper in the right hand and zinc in your left hand. If enough people are connected in series they could make enough power to light an led light. Make them yourself of buy them on Amazon or Etsy.
This is getting me excited about the possibilities. I need to experiment soon while the ground is soaking wet from all the rain---easy to dig. I need to find out how to anodize iron which I think is a little more complicated than Aluminium. I can only separated my cathode/anode by about three acres instead of a mile because any further and I would have to trespass on my neighbours property to string wire and bury the cathode or anode. So I'm stuck with three acres max. Could string out the Earth Battery in the mountains on public land---nobody would see it after it was build. The mile long insulated wire back to the other electrode (cathode of anode) would be hidden in the brush.
To: Mr. Teslonian: You might want to do a search for the new Brass and Iron chargeable batteries that is all the rage on the web now. At first you say Edison invented that type of battery many years ago and its not best you can make with scrap metal. Just look scrap metal battery. The three of four researchers have used scrap Brass and Iron that they anodise first, and then immerse them in a cheap electrolyte (I think it is either sodium or potassium hydroxide). They have charged and discharged their prototype batteries up to 5000 times with only a 10 percent loss in charge-ability. I think that is better than Lead-Acid batteries---definitely cheaper to make. The key to this new type of Edison battery is the anodising of the electrodes. Look up anodising on Wikipedia. Not difficult to do at home, definitely DIY project. People whom choose to live outside the grid can now build their own super efficient rechargeable batteries instead of depending on expensive marine batteries. This is a big development for off-grid living.
Just guessin, but, here goes. If you should get enough power to charge a capacitor, (high speed ) then use a transistor to pulse the coil. The true power is not what the coil makes or picks up from the background but what it makes when pulsed at resonance. you do not need very much amperage or voltage, just enough to create a resonant pulse. This can be hundreds of times more power. Just tough to make and tough to catch. Great videos Clay
Separate your anode and cathode of your earth batteries as far apart as possible. Any metal will work as you have found out with your copper tubing and sheet metal batteries. Separate the anode and cathode by several acres if possible and if you take the time to anodize the anode/cathode you may be in for a surprise beyond just the separation of space between anode/cathode. You can anodize aluminium very simply with potassium hydroxide at home.
Voltage and current output from copper coil immersed in the solution will continue to drop, as the copper tubing continues to oxidize. This increases the cell resistance.
take a small brass plate (4 inch) and a small aluminum plate and drill both full of holes and press a thick paste of water and bicarbonate of soda between them. You can charge this cell to produce enough current to power small motors. But, a hearing aid battery has more power than this or any of the things we have seen here. The Earth and the atmosphere hold enough energy to power everything on the planet. Capturing that energy is a real challenge.
From my experience, the moisture on every wire rap have to be separate from all the others, if the moisture connects from one wrap to the next your voltage will drop
have you tried connecting the negative terminal of your bucket batteries to a direct ground connection - maybe with a diode in series with this connection...?
Love to see reactions, next to a rageing water fall, or in humidity of a thunder storm, even try it in the humidity of a hot bathroom shower !, very interesting stuff, fasinating, thanks, thom in Scotland,
question... would changing the amount of rotations of the copper tube coil to coincide with the approximate 7.83hz of Earths resonance change the amount of current picked up from your device?
Have you thought of putting longer bolts on the center rod, straddling it between two blocks and then using a drill to rotate the whole unit slowly in order to spool the wire? It sounds like just using your hands was a real pain.
I was thinking about the ground battery concept. Mankind has done many things with the "creation" or elements of nature and have done both good and harm. It depends upon what he does with it. I've been watching some of these earth batteries ideas and thought if IF it were to become viable it is likely that it may very well harm the micro life in the living soil. Food needs more than simple chemical sustenance to be quality and healthy to eat..
LIKE YOUR project here it makes me think about how ham radio operators increase signal in & out when they burry a waud of wire or a stile plate under there antenna's then soak the ground making a larger ground plain so you might want to try adding antennas of less mass equal mass and greater mass or coils and try drawing power from the different or sum in the earth and the air then us voltage doublers circuits. as long as u have 1.5 v to 3 v constant and ull have slight ac from atmospheric and maybe some ac from ground @ 6 Hz use a mossfet trans, coil, and cap as type of gewl theaf after the 4 diode and 2 electrolytic and 2 ceramic caps. P.S. love ur idea 4 bucket caps
wotan237 What is the potential current of a single pulse of a lightning strike, close to a trillion watts, the strike is typically going from the ground to the cloud so were, in or on the ground does this trillion watts a pulse come from? The answer to your question of what it can run is everything the real question is how to harness it?
Can you hook up all of the negative- terminals all of which have a different voltage to create a collective voltage as long as the negative- terminals are still connected to the same positive+ terminal on that circuit to get a total of .3+.3+.7+.5 to get 1.8 volts ⚡️
I saw bedini I think it was with a copper sphere hung up in a tree. it would interesting if you could do this and using the ground coil as half of the circuit.
I wonder how much voltage/current could be collected/generated by separating the Anode and Cathode by one mile, using large sheet of anodized aluminium and at the other end a large sheet of anodized iron. The Cathode should be buried deeper than the Anode supposedly. See Wikipedia on Earth Batteries.
I think that the aluminum flashing will oxidise and disappear in the matter of a month or so. Dont mean to be negative but unless both metals are going to last a couple years.... not really worth building an array. But I can see its value as tool for experimentation.
I think it is for the radiant based on the orgon ion. Orgonite principal also the oron chamber. Unplugged toaster as a collector and transmitter of radiant ions. Is DC in nature. did a little series on my fb page on the unseen force that connects us to the earth. Facebook.com/bryan.gish.wolf
Different metals have different potentials and having them in a conductive liquid of water makes it become a battery. However, the energy density of the design in this video is incredibly low and it won't work forever either. Stick with your traditional batteries and save your fingers, if you need battery power and if you want to capture electromagnetic energy, you need a broadband antenna and some efficient rectifier. Running your crystal radio on radio waves alone is trivial. Running your house on it is impossible, unfortunately (not enough energy in the air).
Nice. but it is not the Radiant Energy from the Radiation, Tesla used somehow circuit between Antenna and the Ground. You must have more advanced vacuum to accelerate free iones at first like (Rentgen),- Atomic and Kinetic energy at the same time. With today technology we can accomplish it.
Can I ask a couple really dumb questions? @ 10:00- 10:40 you get 4 different readings for output. Why not just use all 4?. Attach a diode to each to prevent back feed,,,, maybe? Also taking energy from water doesn't make sense. Water has a very low mineral content, much lower in acids and salts, but in those acids and salts you can find the reaction. That's what energy is. It's free moving electrons released by a reaction... "friction even, I bet if you spun the tub you'd of had six times more" Anyway I like yer mind, I just think you start out too slow on the objective and need to give more credit to the "if you wanna know the easy part look it up in a 5th grade science book" Send me an email, I got some ideas on this that I need help with, might have some advice for you too.

Super exciting, glad you are testing the Stubblefield coil. But it isn't supposed to be submerged, and too much water reduces its effectiveness.

would it be practical to use these in place of solar cells to charge storage batteries?
Thanks
Did you use salt water or just regular tap water? Im asking because ive heard the salt causes a greater reaction and thus more volts ..
According to another article, bleach added will also increase the volts. One article made batteries using pop cans and bleach water.
