I fell off my chair with a roller down to the tiled floor in my work place and since then I feel pain around my waist and the bone in the centre between the buttocks . Occasionally, I feel pain in the pelvic region mostly at night too. Pls what can I do ?
I have a slight discrepancy my right leg is shorter a physiotherapist told me, I over compensate on my right side. It helped because I finally stretched Piriformis muscle like you showed on the table relief
Hello there, tried all of the exersices and never felt so relieved in my life. I have been struggling with lower back pain, buttock pain and testicular pain due to that nerve (pain and inflamation reaches the Epididymitis). Thank tou very much for this very usefull exersices, I will keep doing them along with loosing some excessive weight (10-12 kilos) and try to strengthen those muscles. My question is, is cycling okay at this stage? I cycle everyday for around 15 kilometres in flat. Again, many many thanks.

I have been suffering from this pain for close to 2 years ever since childbirth and I did these stretches for the first time today and I was so surprised the tightness is gone like magic. @@DrRowe Hey thanks again! I am 90% better after having terrible piriformis for about 15 years. The key for me is combining the rolling on the rubber ball twice a week with the leg lifts. The stretches alone never really got me anywhere.

Im back! This stretch routine is miraculous. I've had piriformis pain since last year in September and it went away within two weeks of me constantly doing this. Good stuff!
@@a.d.ggon.2081 hi sorry about my late reply but i stopped all the other stretching and massaging from other videos for 7 days. After that I started this but I added lunges and side step to the fire hydrant to try strengthen the muscle even more and voila :) dont stretch too much bc over stretching is usually what makes it worse. Focus on working the muscle. Hope this helped xx
@@yazimirracopper7780 yeah, so it was like a sharp uncomfortable pain, like the nerve was being pinched. I only really felt it when I sat down or did strenuous exercise. The longer I'd sit the worse it would get lol.
Dr. Rowe, My chiropractor used an electric massager with very strong vibration on my lower back that provoked me BUTTOCK PAIN . I got in the car drove home and 10 minutes after getting out of his office I was in PAIN. I didn't have this before seeing him. It's been a week and I haven't been able to stand for more than 10 min without having to RUN TO A CHAIR. I am getting ready to start these exercises with you. Why would someome dislike a video like this? I don't get it..... Thank you and keep sharing your videos. You are an angel for people like me .. I can't afford paying for therapy sometimes when my insurance is rejected. GOD BLESS YOU........
Tried it, it worked. I fell several years ago. Someone left water on the floor and I came along and slipped, I have had so many problems since then. I was desperate and was looking for something, I ran across your video. It really helped. Will continue these stretches.

Hi Dr Rowe, yesterday I made a comment asking you about a lost video and exercise. This is it, the stretch that you are demonstrating 2.40 to 4.40 is the one that has given me freedom from a lifetime sentence of pain/ache. It really has changed my life = thank you very much. For anybody else suffering chronic lower back and hip pain this is the best one to try in my humble opinion, for me it works every time without fail.
That 2nd stretch really helped me. I've been doing other stretches every day for at least 15 min. With little relief. Right after doing your stretches, I had relief for almost the whole day. Thank u!
Dr. Rowe, you have changed my life. I cannot express how much this video has changed my life. I have been years dealing with pain in my right hip. Seen chiropractors, massage therapists, even had x-ray, MRI and seen a rheumatologist as blood work had shown that I was positive for a gene for spondylitis... All that came out fine, but I was still having the pain which was responsible for being very stiff every morning, as well as trying to continuously stretch all day to try and relive the pain. But I could not. I came across this video and it has released this pain and I can honestly say I feel as good as I did ten years ago. Thank you so much. Cheers. Dave.
I had been doing both stretches prior to this video, but without the rotation. I could not figure out why the stretching was ineffective; this has been persistent for years now. For the first time in a very long time I feel like my piriformis on both sides are loose, and I can now address the imbalance properly with exercises. I cannot thank you enough. I would like to add that the nerve pain got so bad that it would radiate up and down the entire left side of my body. These stretches alleviated it.

WOW ! ! ! The second stretch helped me get really into that buttock pain that won’t allow me to sleep. It felt amazing feeling the tension go as I stretched deep into the pain. Such a big sense of relief. I will continue to your stretches in order to help my pain. I just found out it was piroformis syndrome after almost 6 months of pain. No meds can take away what stretches can do. It’s painful but worth it. Thank you, DR. ❤️
How did you find out it was Piriformis Syndrome? My xrays showed nothing abnormal and 2 chiros cant fix me. I have a MRI this wednesday 2/16 in hopes of finding the cause. Doctor gave me muscle relaxers and a steroid...didnt even TOUCH the pain.
OMG NOW I KNOW WHAT I HAVE!!! I have a muscle disease and always thought the pain felt like childhood growing pains. I’ve known the symptoms and what triggers it but, being chronically ill, I have to sit and rest a lot. This video helped me INSTANTLY and I now know what to do when the pain comes! People need to also understand overstretching the piriformis muscle is a thing and this may cause adverse effects for people with piriformis syndrome. More strengthening and very light stretching.
Reading these comments it seems like you truly helped a lot of people, myself included. I currently have Covid and have been locked away in my room contained to my bed for the most part and started having pain after the 3rd day. Hello from the Toronto region. I was sent a link to your channel by my wife who was doing some research and I've since started building a core and lower body routine from your videos, Dr. Rowe. The exercises do work and help significantly - I'm a staffing analyst and while I do try and get up and move around throughout the day, I do spend a lot of time sitting as a result. Anyone looking for great ideas on how to manage discomfort and start getting a jump on getting better has come to the right place.

I have been doing hip flexor exercises for a while now. BUT the answer to my hip problem when walking has been solved by these 3 short exercises. I have only done them 4 times and they have made a massive difference Thanks
I don't why but I started getting this pain and I'm an avid squatter twice a week since my 20s. I stopped immediately and thought it was because of squatting... I found your video and did these exercises/stretches and it's made a world of difference. Good looking out doc! Subbed.
The amazing thing about Dr.Rowe is he never uses any equipment anyone can get an instant relief. Felt so relaxed only after trying the first exercise. Wish I could visit him. I seem to get extreme pain on specifc spots, when I try to sit in my right hip, hamstring and even my lower back. Sometimes I can even feel pain on the side of the thigh running down to the right feet. Will keep doing these exercises for a week or two hope it will help a lot of people.
A lot better thanx for asking, went to a physiotherapist he said it's the gluteus maximus which was compressing the nerve. However I did go through a very painful period while resting, later and even still now I feel a lump underside of my right foot and randomly a burning sensation.
OMG, You have done it again Dr Rowe. I have had a sore left buttock for a few days now, probably over exercising . When doing the first exercise, this targeted EXACTLY the area that is sore, amazing I will do this and the others from now on. Big thanks again Dr Rowe, these videos are greatly appreciated !

@@staytight6340 Sorry to hear you're in that much pain. It's probably best to go to your doctor if it's that severe. Otherwise, I've found that I use this stretch less now. Instead, I do squat-based exercises in a doorframe, by placing the inside of one knee against the frame, with the other leg inside the doorway, and then perform squats slowly. (Keeping one knee against the door stretches the leg better). It's basically an upright version of a 'frog's legs' stretch you can do on a bed.
I had sciatic pain in my butt because I did too much yard work I did this exercise for the first day twice and 50% of the pain went away I'm going to keep on doing it until the pain goes away thank you so much you're God sent
I live in France and I suffer of my pyriform since a longtime. I did a lot of things but nobody show me this kind of exercices. I dit them at the beginning it was very difficult because of my pain but I feel better now. Thank you so much

Have had both Cervical and Lumber fusion surgery still trying to hold true to being ‘active’; with that said you’ve homed in quickly and effectively within a layman concise fashion in helping me receive relief that I could not even attain throughout my costly duplicated therapy sessions. I’m in tears right now! I have been in pain going on 4 weeks now and have not been able to sit. I started to get depressed with not being able to sit or drive. I was in sooo much pain I went to the er. I wad scared to stretch because I didn’t want to feel the unbearable pain I felt about a week ago. This morning I woke up and prayed and I said that I didn’t want to continue to be in pain and decided to try stretching. I did the stretches 1 TIME AND FELT IMMEDIATE RELIEF!!!!!! My pain has went from 12 to about 6. I haven’t felt this type of relief even though I’ve been going to my chiropractor! I’m going to continue to do these stretches about 3 times a day. This REALLY works for me! Took a trip to the OR coast, too much sitting, and used these simple exercises to relieve piriformis pain that was affecting my golf swing late into a round. Will use this daily now as all pain is gone.
I am feeling so much improved after doing most of these. It brought relief and now I take walks again. I never dreamt a few stretches' could change my life.

I woke up at 4am today with shooting pain in my right buttock radiating towards my leg. I've had this pain for two days now. This is the first video I found and I'm glad I did. Recently have developed pain here and I am a flexible yet sedentary person that used to be fairly active (in the beforetimes), so I knew I had to look primarily at strength building instead of flexibility. A lot of advice I see online has to do with stretching, not exercise, and it was frustrating. Thank you again!

Particularly love the 3rd strengthening stretch over the chair which I can feel will really works those slack muscles and relieves pain at the same time. May I suggest you include a standing version of the same, which I've just tried, for people who have had their knees replaced and can't kneel as I think that would be helpful too. I do your stretches and strengthening exercises for 15 - 20 min. in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening and have started exercising. For a long time , I have suspected that my back pain (which has increased year by year) stem from being out of shape. Oddly enough, I do not have a sedentary job but I probably have some minor repetitive motion injury. I am nearing retirement, and am older, I think that without working to maintain your muscles, they kind of fade away as a natural part of the aging process. So the stretches alleviate the pain and now I exercise every day. I only need a few more years to make it to full retirement and your exercises and stretches are going to make that possible. Thank you.
Covid19 has created so many sedentary lifestyles with lockdowns. I live in Toronto Canada. My city has had more than 1 year, zero indoor dining. All the waitresses need to work their glutes at home since they're not running around the restaurant all night! Great video. Thanks
I injured my left leg in Aug last year due to longboarding and I have overused and put too much pressure on my right leg since then. Though the injured leg had already recovered , my right thigh and buttock area were in pain everytime. Seems like my right leg has already got used to carrying up the weight of my body from that incident. I can’t wait to try out these exercises! These are great. They do relieve pain. I do a variation of the one where your leg is bent on the table with other leg behind on the ground. It's a yoga stretch where you are on the ground (on stomach) and you have your knee bent at 90 deg under you, with the other leg stretched out behind. You then lean your body forward, elbows & forearms on ground for that glute & hip stretch

Omg! Dr. Rowe, I follow several of your videos and they do help. This second exercise is nearly impossible; I cannot bring my leg up on flat surface @ 90 degree angle: when I try, my knee points forward, & not flat. I had a car accident 4 yrs ago; symptoms began only 7 months ago. Still working to get my hips, iliospoas/poas/hip flexors to return back to pre-injury. It’s been a long 7 months. Wish your clinic was in CA! Thank you for all the great videos.

WOW ! ! ! The second stretch helped me get really into that buttock pain that won’t allow me to sleep. It felt amazing feeling the tension go as I stretched deep into the pain. Such a big sense of relief. I will continue to your stretches in order to help my pain. I just found out it was piroformis syndrome after almost 6 months of pain. No meds can take away what stretches can do. It’s painful but worth it. Thank you, DR. ❤️

How did you find out it was Piriformis Syndrome? My xrays showed nothing abnormal and 2 chiros cant fix me. I have a MRI this wednesday 2/16 in hopes of finding the cause.
Doctor gave me muscle relaxers and a steroid...didnt even TOUCH the pain.

People need to also understand overstretching the piriformis muscle is a thing and this may cause adverse effects for people with piriformis syndrome. More strengthening and very light stretching.
Reading these comments it seems like you truly helped a lot of people, myself included. I currently have Covid and have been locked away in my room contained to my bed for the most part and started having pain after the 3rd day. This video helped instantly after doing the stretches/exercises so thank you so much for everything you do!

Hello from the Toronto region. I was sent a link to your channel by my wife who was doing some research and I've since started building a core and lower body routine from your videos, Dr. Rowe. The exercises do work and help significantly - I'm a staffing analyst and while I do try and get up and move around throughout the day, I do spend a lot of time sitting as a result. @Viviane raw I'm alot better now. These definitely work if you have piriformis.
The amazing thing about Dr.Rowe is he never uses any equipment anyone can get an instant relief. Felt so relaxed only after trying the first exercise. Wish I could visit him. I seem to get extreme pain on specifc spots, when I try to sit in my right hip, hamstring and even my lower back. Sometimes I can even feel pain on the side of the thigh running down to the right feet. Will keep doing these exercises for a week or two hope it will help a lot of people.

A lot better thanx for asking, went to a physiotherapist he said it's the gluteus maximus which was compressing the nerve. However I did go through a very painful period while resting, later and even still now I feel a lump underside of my right foot and randomly a burning sensation.
I was having so much discomfort in my buttocks and the second stretch demonstrated was a GODSEND! Thanks for the video!

OMG, You have done it again Dr Rowe. I have had a sore left buttock for a few days now, probably over exercising . @@staytight6340 Sorry to hear you're in that much pain. It's probably best to go to your doctor if it's that severe. Otherwise, I've found that I use this stretch less now. Instead, I do squat-based exercises in a doorframe, by placing the inside of one knee against the frame, with the other leg inside the doorway, and then perform squats slowly. (Keeping one knee against the door stretches the leg better). It's basically an upright version of a 'frog's legs' stretch you can do on a bed.

I had sciatic pain in my butt because I did too much yard work I did this exercise for the first day twice and 50% of the pain went away I'm going to keep on doing it until the pain goes away thank you so much you're God sent

Whatta God sent, thank U! Have had both Cervical and Lumber fusion surgery still trying to hold true to being ‘active’; with that said you’ve homed in quickly and effectively within a layman concise fashion in helping me receive relief that I could not even attain throughout my costly duplicated therapy sessions. Goes to show therapy is only as ‘good’ as the individual teaching application/s. Good fortune to U!

I’m in tears right now! I have been in pain going on 4 weeks now and have not been able to sit. I started to get depressed with not being able to sit or drive. I was in sooo much pain I went to the er. I wad scared to stretch because I didn’t want to feel the unbearable pain I felt about a week ago. This morning I woke up and prayed and I said that I didn’t want to continue to be in pain and decided to try stretching. I did the stretches 1 TIME AND FELT IMMEDIATE RELIEF!!!!!! My pain has went from 12 to about 6. I haven’t felt this type of relief even though I’ve been going to my chiropractor! I’m going to continue to do these stretches about 3 times a day. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Words can’t express my gratitude ❤️

This REALLY works for me! Took a trip to the OR coast, too much sitting, and used these simple exercises to relieve piriformis pain that was affecting my golf swing late into a round. Will use this daily now as all pain is gone.

Unbelievable it’s been almost 3 years I could just cry what relief one day I got in this position being a caregiver for 6 months I finally figured out because I had no physical activity during that time how it all came about but find a solution was difficult until I found this video. I woke up at 4am today with shooting pain in my right buttock radiating towards my leg. I've had this pain for two days now. This is the first video I found and I'm glad I did. Recently have developed pain here and I am a flexible yet sedentary person that used to be fairly active (in the beforetimes), so I knew I had to look primarily at strength building instead of flexibility. I do your stretches and strengthening exercises for 15 - 20 min. in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening and have started exercising. For a long time , I have suspected that my back pain (which has increased year by year) stem from being out of shape. Oddly enough, I do not have a sedentary job but I probably have some minor repetitive motion injury. I am nearing retirement, and am older, I think that without working to maintain your muscles, they kind of fade away as a natural part of the aging process. So the stretches alleviate the pain and now I exercise every day. I only need a few more years to make it to full retirement and your exercises and stretches are going to make that possible. Thank you.

Covid19 has created so many sedentary lifestyles with lockdowns. I live in Toronto Canada. My city has had more than 1 year, zero indoor dining. All the waitresses need to work their glutes at home since they're not running around the restaurant all night! Great video. Thanks

I injured my left leg in Aug last year due to longboarding and I have overused and put too much pressure on my right leg since then. Though the injured leg had already recovered , my right thigh and buttock area were in pain everytime. Seems like my right leg has already got used to carrying up the weight of my body from that incident.

These are great. They do relieve pain. I do a variation of the one where your leg is bent on the table with other leg behind on the ground. It's a yoga stretch where you are on the ground (on stomach) and you have your knee bent at 90 deg under you, with the other leg stretched out behind. You then lean your body forward, elbows & forearms on ground for that glute & hip stretch

Omg! Dr. Rowe, I follow several of your videos and they do help. This second exercise is nearly impossible; I cannot bring my leg up on flat surface @ 90 degree angle: when I try, my knee points forward, & not flat. I had a car accident 4 yrs ago; symptoms began only 7 months ago. Still working to get my hips, iliospoas/poas/hip flexors to return back to pre-injury. It’s been a long 7 months. Wish your clinic was in CA! Thank you for all the great videos.
