Interestingly, Midnight Sparkle was the official toy name back in Friendship Games, but they just never used it in the film for some reason. That's where fans got it.

I love the fact Gaia turned out to be a made up story by timber to cover for the magic corruption of his sister is a good twist, not many people pick up on that and it saddens me.

Indeed. I also have a theory on why the magic that hit the cave was linked to the humane seven: Its not some random magic that came through the crack, at least not entirely, when daydream shimmer and Midnight sparkle turned back into their base forms, the excess magic needed to go somewhere. The magic from the portal, that twilight stole returned to the pedestal, (so the two twilights could meet in the end-scene) but the magic that came from the humane six needed to go somewhere else and it discharged into the crystals. (sunset and twilight each drew magic from the other girls, so if all the magic returned to them, all of them would be at 200% power each).
When I saw the trailer I was worried they would have a villain named Gaia. I'd find that a bit offensive. Luckily they did a bait and switch.
Why would it be offensive?
Sunset was not just standing around, she was encouraging the team, which really is important. I also suspecting she acts a bit like Twilight of the Main 6, as the leader and delegator.

When they got their superhero outfits I definitely liked rarity and sunsets outfits the best they were so pretty
I know this is very late, but I have a feeling the Tree of Harmony recognized the new world as a world to protect when Twilight briefly opened unrestricted portals between the worlds. So when a crack remained, it created the second set of less powerful, but still very significant seven Elements.

The Midnight Sparkle plot line amounted to nothing but Sci-Twi being paranoid, this human Filthy Rich acts nothing like his pony counterpart, but the most unforgivable sing as far as I am concerned is how the film treats Flash. He gets pushed aside to focus on that asshole Timber, and all his "friends" ignore him to gush over Timber. They act like he is the coolest but he does nothing to earn it, with his skills being mediocre at best and non-existent at worst. In fact, I argue he causes most of the problems in the film himself, since instead of getting Gloriosa help or stopping her from using magic, he covers for her by lying to the campers and spreading fake dust around, basically enabling her to be corrupted by magic. That's like leaving a drug addict alone with a bunch of drugs unsupervised. Because apparently flirting with an underaged client is more important than his sister's mental health. Then he has the nerve to brag he "saved the day" when he did more to endanger everyone. Also, Sunset was a major bitch to Flash. She gives huge friendship speeches to everyone else that empathizes with them, but all she can spare for Flash is "get over Twilight". That is borderline relationship sabotage since she never gets Princess Twilight's thoughts on the matter. I can't believe Flash actually thanked her for that awful advice.

Never got to see this movie on my own, so I decided to pretty much watch it for my first time along with ya, Luffy. Great reaction, man.
As far as the Equestria girls movies go, this one's probably my second favorite after Rainbow Rocks. I enjoyed the character progress with SciTwi being self-conscious about her power and Flash actually developing more (particularly his scene with Sunset). I also enjoyed Timber as a character, being charming in that dorky kind of way.
Pretty good movie. I'd happily watch it again.

You mentioned liking the "Saucy Sunset". honestly, I think it fits her character better than shrinking violet we've seen it the past few movies. She was Celestia's student before Twilight, wouldn't she be at least two or three years older than her? I mean, seeing as she must have been gone by the time Twilight got her cutie mark. socially, she should probably be closer to a college student.

The Gaia Everfree of Timber's story was just that - a story. His imagination of her was different than what happened to Gloriosa, since he wasn't being serious, just explaining the weird things to cover for her.

Gaia Everfree was never real, the magic _just_ hit the camp, you can see it in the flashback. It's just the Equestrian magic overwhelming Gloriosa.

Luffyiscool I was basically saying all the reactor I've watched were like "Sunset don't be that way" or "Come on sunset he's trying" but they didn't acknowledge the fact that she wasn't really paying attention in the first place
no one in any of these commentaries point out the FACT that SCI-TWI is all of 16 years old and TIMBER is at least 20 (as he is a co-owner of the Camp and does not seem to be in high school)
16 is the age of consent in 30 states and the entire UK (where I live).
So personally, I don't see much issue. Sure it might seem weird, but it's not explicitly immoral.
it's a show for kids, so it might not be immoral in some states but Hasbro is normally more rated "G" and not rated "PG" on cartoons
Midnight Sparkle wasn't actually a fan-name, they called her that on the official Director's Commentary track for EG3 on the DVD

Aw, amazing reaction as always Luffy! I can't imagine the work that goes into reacting to the show, let alone a full movie. You effort is always appreciate and the humor and entertainment is always top notch!
As for the movie, I found it very enjoyable, not as good as Rainbow Rocks, but what is? Also felt Flash was at his best here. Really I've never hated the guy, I love making fun of him, but he's never taken away from the movies for me. Now the fact that the portal to Equestria is cracked makes me wounder, will this be followed more in the EQG movies or could this be leading to a huge apocalyptic event that could be involved with the MLP Movie.

Something I noticed in this viewing that I did NOT notice before I don't think: During the fashion show we can see crude mannequins showing the outfits that Twilight and Sunset Shimmer were SUPPOSED to wear on the dock. It's a small but cool detail.
We're actually IN the Everfree Forest in this movie.... and still no Zecora.
I never hated Flash Sentry in EQG for the same reason I never hated Diamond Tiara or Joffrey. There's no character there to hate. Just one dimensional caricatures. If they're not going to invest energy in decent characterisation, I'm not going to invest emotional energy in caring, one way or the other.
Recently, however (I think the Friendship Game short featuring Flash was the start), they've actually started to give Flash character, so now I kind of like him.
I really hope the next movie is really good. The portal cracking can mean a whole bunch of things, and it is a great setup.

ok i should leave this stuff to the pros like rarity but... i took some art classes and i have a very artistic sister.
combing stuff from the same color family isn't really that bad.
let me explain.
look at the colors Red and pink pink is a tint of Red.
(Red with white mixed together).
they go well together in most cases you see many pieces of clothing with pink and red together.
look at aqua blue and sky blue both different tints of blue they're seen together a lot as well.
in fact rarity is counteracting herself in this scene.
her shorts are a shade of purple i don't know it's name off the top of of my head but her hair and her towel she sitting on are different shades of purple. her towel might just be purple purple but her hair is darker.
again i'm not a big nerd when it comes to this stuff but i know enough.

I agree with you on most of these points like how good the first "Equestria Girls" was and the thing about building up on Flash's character(a fine character at that). In fact(in my opinion), I would hope that we could get more in depth of pony Flash's character as well, since he has been absent for two seasons for reasons unknown. I really liked the chemistry between Sci-Twi and Timber here, they hit it off so well from start to finish and yes, "that was adorable!" While "Rainbow Rocks" remains my favorite of all the movies so far, this one has earned 2nd place on my list. Very nice reaction, Luffy!
while i agree with the fact that he is better than flash and they're more compatible i'm not 100% on board with them being a thing.
i like timber as a character but there's no real chemistry between them. they're both nerds and related on some things is that enough to enter a romantic relationship?
and the age difference bugs me too. twilight is a senior? in high school while timber is what a young adult?
yes he could have just been homeschooled since he lives in the forest and could be twilights age.
i'm not saying i'm against them being a thing i'm just saying both of them being nerds isn't a reason to start dating.

Also think about how tall Timber is and how that's shown to be with teachers and adults, and that he isn't in school. It is never stated, but can be estimated that the Main 7 are around 16-17ish. Maybe less since they don't have a driver licences. With Timber being between 21-28ish. Basically like a teacher hitting on/dating a student.

we didn't go on very long field trips that often cause Nevada sucks but from what i recall my farthest field trip we took was to Sacramento

i brought my game boy advance sat in the back and just played Pokémon till we got there.

There's not going to be a fifth EqG movie next year. They're doing three 22 minute specials instead. I suspect to keep the workload from burning out the staff. Remember the show and the theatrical movie are going to be a lot of work. Expect the specials to have a staggered release through the year. (I have a sneaking suspicion it may be testing the waters to transition EqG into a TV/Netflix series from a movie series.)

Because it's not specifically about the voice itself, it's about the character it's coming from.
I'm 20x more excited to see a Sunset song than a Twilight song, purely based on what I think of the characters. That's just how it is.

Overall, it was the best EQG movie yet. It had a very different feeling that all the others. They went a bit there with Friendship Games, but this movie was the top.
Twilight's conflict with her inside Midnight Sparkle, Gloriosa and Timber's relation and how Timber was scared of losing her because of outside forces.

I think this Equestria Girls is pretty much equal to Rainbow Rocks. Both are at the top, but each have their own pros and cons. :)

I hope that the next season isn't the last one, I will be really sad as I've never been to a con and I really wanted to go but financially I don't think I can this year =( Plus, I've grown accustomed to watching reactions and I'll be really bummed if I can't anymore.
I somewhat doubt that Season 7 is the last one. Remember this is a toy-driven show, and as long as the show and the toy keep raking in the money for Hasbro, I doubt they're gonna let the show end while it's still popular.
As long as the show is still popular I'm sure that season 7 won't be the last season one. Although, I wouldn't want them to overstay their welcome and everyone end up hating the cartoon, because then that would seriously suck. Normally I'd say 6 seasons of something and that's good, but season 6 was better then what a lot of people thought it was, yes there were episodes that were kind of meh, or even bad but for the majority of it, it was great. So as long as season 7 is great I'm sure that we'll have another season after season 7. XD.
