  • In this video, I review and do a demonstration on the Ruggedmade RS 737 Ruggedsplit log splitter. I talk about the pros and cons of this machine and how it stacks up versus conventional big box store splitters, Also give a brief demonstration of the machine in action.

    Thanks for the info! I assumed that most of this unit was Chinese, thanks for clearing that up, still the best looking and quality Chinese made splitter I’ve seen

      Your welcome. It's a great splitter. In the process of splitting about 7 cords. I have since replaced the battery, but starting problems (electric) still persist. I'd say the electric start is the weak spot in the unit. Also, engine is jetted very lean from factory so it has to start on choke even when warm. Thats easily fixed with bigger jet. Other than that, I have very happy with the unit. Unfortunately price has gone up substantially since I bought it. I still highly recommend getting it..money well spent!

    I took the battery Off of mine, it starts easily using the pullstart in 1 or 2 pulls usually and i dont have to waste time buying and maintaining a battery.

    This is a great machine. If you get a 1 loader, 1 operator, and 2 throwers you can do a lot in a short time.

    When you start it cold hold the choke with left hand and start it with the key start. Push throttle full open. It will start

    You may have already figured out what is going on with your log splitter when it won't start. I see your video is about 2 years old. But if you haven't I would tell you that when you go to start it and you think it's a starter or a bad battery check the control valves because if they're not in neutral position it won't start and it will act like a bad battery and the key ignition also.

      Thanks for the tip. I know exactly what you are talking about. It ended up being the battery. Normally I would have suspected the battery but it was almost brand new. The vibrations these machines throw off is hard on lead acid batteries. I need to go AGM. Thanks for watching!

      @@andy84wilson I have the 728 model I just bought this year and the battery does jiggling wiggle around in the battery case I think the battery was too small for the machine. However I took 1/4 inch threaded rod and I drilled the hole on the bottom of the battery box a quarter inch hole on both sides then l cut a piece of quarter inch flat stock then drilled that out as well I put a piece of leather on top of the battery and then tightened it all up problem all fixed hope this will you .

    • @andy84wilson

      This machine needs an AGM battery. Flooded cell batteries won't hold up to the vibrations from the machine. That battery was 2 or 3 months old at the time of the video. Vibration killed it that fast. Lesson learned.

    Awe man.
    Thats depressing. So what was wrong with the 4 way splitter wedge? Why would you not use that? Is it too weak to use the 4 way with?

    • @andy84wilson
      @andy84wilson  2 месяца назад

      No the machine is crazy strong. It will blast through the nastiest wood like a breeze. The 4 way wedge is only good (I think) if you are in smaller diameter material. Just because it splits them in weird sizes if they are too big. But ruggedmade now offers a 6 way wedge that I'd really like to try. Please don't let the 4 way wedge discourage you from buying the machine. It's been great. Hope that answers your question

    Can you turn the 4 way over so the spacing is different? That's a design idea if you cant.

    • @andy84wilson
      @andy84wilson  11 месяцев назад

      No you can't unfortunately. And the provided 4 way wedge doesn't make pieces in the right size in my opinion. It works GREAT on like 10" rounds but thats about it. There are better designs out there. But don't let that stop you from buying the splitter. Its a GREAT machine. Too bad they are a lot more money now, but I guess everything is.

    Awesome video! We truly appreciate the feedback and love hearing from our customers. The RS-737 is a great model and we can tell you're really moving through those cords with ease.
    Just wanted to let you know that in the last 6 months or so we released a brand new assembly video which REALLY cuts down on the build time (ruclips.net/video/2plsp-ClFV0/видео.html). We've also made some changes to the hydraulics and valve platform!
    Again just love hearing real and genuine feedback and we're pumped you're enjoying your splitter!

      @@faststang85 I guess it's all in what works best for you. I've added a hydraulic wedge to this 37 ton and just finished an 8 way wedge for it, (I have vids of it on my channel) I run this thing with a conveyor and can easily push through over a cord an hour without any issues by myself. The problem becomes dealing with the wood, this splitter can make firewood much faster than a normal person can deal with it. For my own personal use this splitter is more than I could ever need ( with the wedge mods). When I get that Eastonmade it will be a toss up as to which one gets sold. With what I have invested in the Eastonmade I can buy 4 of these ruggedmade splitters. Let us know what you end up getting.
