Do you think we'll get weapon frameworks/paintjobs? I assume it the Dwarves would get different armor/hats, as that's such a huge part of DRG, but I wonder if frameworks on randomized weapons would even be possible. Perhaps you'd unlock "potential" frameworks, but wouldn't get to choose them - they'd just appear randomly on weapons you acquire mid-run. Hopefully at least the starting guns are customizable. Also, do you think beers will make a return?

Some survival horror gameplay will be welcomed. Something like L4D2 or Darktide when you concentrated on shooting and running more than mining and doing objectives. I need air, fresh air!
I don't think many people were actually upset about Rogue Core - they were upset about Rockpox lasting another 8 months... sure, devs have said they'll try and "find a way for veterans to opt out of it," but they've promised things before that just... never happened. Like reducing the cosmetic loot pool bloat. I think people are mainly upset because - despite a 5th and 6th Season being promised - it's a sign that DRG is entering retirement. Odds are the devs will slowly shift more and more focus over to Rogue Core. And while I fully support that decision, I can see why lots of people are critical of how they've been treating DRG lately.
I don't think DRG is entering retirement per se, but I do believe it's entering a new "phase(?)" And GSG is trying to figure out how to move forward . It's very likely that rogue core is a way for them to test some things they've wanted to add to DRG but for one reason or another couldn't

I hope they finally put a firing range in the Ramrod. In DRG, you can take any weapon you've unlocked into a mission for a spin, to get the hang of it. But in Rogue Core, to practice with a weapon requires finding it during a randomly generated mission...and then you're thrown into the deep end with it. No, better to let Reclaimers get some practice in in the safety of their ship.

Trailer too have some interesting bits here and there. Like DRG spacerig is in the strange state as i understand it is slightly damaged and feels abandoned. New ship crew is only 4 dwarfs, so other crew must be robots, would managment returns no one knows, as well as will new ship have any bar inside. Maybe instruments would return one way or another, but currently its hard to guess.
its good that they are making a new game they cant adding content to drg the game will get to bloated with content its better to have a new game that has more space for content than continuing to update the same game for years causing the devs to lose motivation people forget that devs are real people and can get bored on working on the same game for years having a new game lets the devs explore with new ideas that could not be possible in drg I think drg is at its end of its life and a new game is the best thing that can happen for the franchise
I just hope they keep first person games in the future. Let's be honest rouge likes are a bloated genre and not a lot of people like them. I don't want more drg stuff locked behind unfun games. Couple things I remember they mentioned in the stream that I thought to comment on here. First, they said the gameplay would start in a staging area outside the core and then the first real stage is after you enter the core. So I’m pretty sure the screenshots you said were in magma core and REZ are probably in that first staging area. Second, they talked about the time dilation ability thing too. They said it would just slow down time for all enemies but keep the players moving at regular speed. Third, I’m almost positive they mentioned this on stream that originally they wanted to make rogue core the fifth season of DRG but as it developed they decided making it it’s own game made more sense and now season 5 of drg is gonna be a prelude to rogue core. Which is why it’s delayed because they switched up their plans.
I believe it was confirmed that Time Dilation will slow time for everything except for the dwarves Edit: I am quite sure the monitor they have on their arms shows the suit ability cooldown
Will Rogue Core have more less or equal customization to DRG? I understand if you want to keep it more "serious" so without some of the silly holiday stuff. But I really like my set up, and with that will there be some cross promotional stuff, say stuff you can get in rogue core for having done stuff in normal DRG? I would love to carry forward some "Souvenirs" as to my previous journeys. With customization will we finally have full customization control? With DRG I was always really hoping for some skins for the support tools, the turret, platform gun, zipline, etc. Even if not full reskins recolours would have been amazing, especially since it would make it easier at a glance to tell which turret is yours, platforms, ziplines, and that way you know what upgrades are on which, it always sucked jumping off a ledge onto a platform, only to find out it was an allies, who does NOT have the damage reduction upgrade. I assume it is unlikely for the4se to come to DRG at this point, but will we be seeing a lot of these player requests in core as having them in from the start would be easier?
Hear me out, got a theory to add to the pile. That pictures with the magma core, I suspect they maybe potentially exploring biome hybridization. Is it not possible that the magma core biome is encroaching on a glacier biome? More specifically the two magma pillars, just outside the building. It also looks like you're staring at a small ice sheet given the glare of the lights. We haven't seen any of them overlap before, but going into the core, who knows whats possible.
What I'd love to see is some *off* colours. Our current dwarves are blue, yellow, green and red. So I'd be awesome if these elite dwarves colours were Purple, Orenge, Cyan and Pink.
I hope this game is darker than drg and theres an actual danger of dying. In the original game you know that you will just come back in a medbay but it would be cool if there was an actual sense of dread and maybe more urgency to extract (if there is still going to be extract phases)
Looking forward to it. Always thought DRGs cave gen and equipment could work well in a tenser game. Make the caves generally darker and slow down the pace.
I'm calling it right now, I think Karl is gonna make an apperance in rogue core, most likely as a boss I think. It could either be he has been corrupted like bet-c but by the core itself or some parasite, or he could be out for revenge, he could also be a good guy throughout but I think him appearing as a boss is more likely
Omg the voice lines would be amazing! I can already imagine bringing a helmet or backpack to the exifiltration zone while your dwarves wisper to themselves "no dwarf left behind."
I think these stations are checkpoint previous dwarves have made to make it safer for other to go deeper. Also the minecarts could be a way to choose which way you want to go.
My only fear is that rouge core will take resources from drg Or drg will take resources from rouge core And both games will suffer drought of new content Nonetheless i am still supporting ghost ship games even if their new game flops
Not sure anyone talked about it yet but this could be like a prequel to the DRG company or from the perspective of a rival dwarf company if possible. Thatd be neat
Time dilation is explained at around 12:00 if you look up the video "Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core Showcase (On The Horizon 2023)" Basically "Slows down everything".
After having a week to mull over this announcement my feelings have definitely improved towards it. Sometimes it's hard to let go of things, and change is always scary. A fanbase like the one of DRG (especially on that reddit...) which is very loyal can just as quickly turn bad if something happens that endangers their uniting factor. Ultimately this will probably turn out really good and the devs will get a chance to implement ideas and concepts they haven't been able to for a while cuz of DRGs limitation stemming mainly from the co-op and class balancing aspects.
I think they can could help prevent people fighting over the Rare upgrades by limiting the amount of upgrades they can have of certain rarities so unless it is absolutely the cornerstone of your build, you might want to pass on it and wait for another.
I would like the more serious tone, but would also appreciate they kept some of the goofy stuff albeit more tame. Perhaps some call backs, or maybe make the dwarves be some greybeard thaf use to also be as goofy as the others, but being extremely deep for so long has kind of turned them into a more focused dwarf. After all they're dwarves, they always find to have good time, unless these dwarves are Duergar and are actually way more cynical than their cousins.
the way i see deep rock is a finished game with lot of replayability and now we are getting a completely new game set in the same world, how are people worried or not excited? im like 99% sure only good things can come from this
it's because people don't like the idea of a game ceasing support from the developers. Even though there is a very small percentage of both Companies relying only one game in their history and live service titles that survived and maintained the perfection it had before
Because we love the game we've already got, lol. And of course we would like to see more meaningful updates for DRG rather than 300 spin-offs. But if this game turns out to be good while not outshining the previous one in the eyes of devs, then I'm all for it
I genuinely don't know how they're going to stop players fighting over what perks to get. Because if you have a close quarters player and a sniper on the team. There's going to be competing interests.
Regarding "Time Dilation" - i think, devs were talking about that ability on game showcase. Martin Pedersen mentioned ability that allows player to literally slow down time, but all of the dwarves will be able to move and shoot normally
So rogue core related questions: 1. Will STEEVE finally be able to be brought back or will beast master not make a return? 2. Will expenite be the only thing we mine or will there be veins of gold and such? 3. Will the hub area have a bar like the space rig does and if so, will the beers be better than the ones we currently have? 4. Now this question is a bit of a personal one but I was playing DRG since it’s early stages so I hope I’ll be able to test the alpha when it comes to that point. The name is Vex btw.
Personally I'm quite excited for it. Also, i dont see how they can keep going with seasons infinitely so its gonna stop or change at some point. I dont mind tho, theres plenty content as is and a whole extra game with even more content is great
I would like to know with DRG’s game engine. Would it be possible to create an infinite match or game? Or would they Need to create ‘bridge’ zones that would deload the previous stage and load a new random generated one? Would it be just like deep dives with the loading screens or something far more advanced?
I was really upset when i heard they were deviating from drg and delaying it more, but after seeing what they are doing in this video, I'm pretty interested. I just hope they take a darker and more horrific tone with it. I love how goofy and dorky drg is, otherwise i wouldnt have over 1k hours in it. That said, ive always felt like this universe has the potential to be really freaking creepy if they play it out right
What's interesting about this Rogue Core gamemode is how similar it is to DRG survivors. DRG survivors also has 5 dives and these small incremental upgrades before a boss fight, and it's also a bit of a roguelike vibe with suit mods etc before the run. I hope DRG does the following things: Makes player characters distinctly different than DRG. I won't be excited getting dwarf cosmetics again... I just won't. They would be much better off having us all play as robots or Elves or something. Would make for a fun parallel and explain some different mechanics. Makes much longer runs. As fun as 5 levels then a boss is, the beauty of a roguelike is that feeling of being truly overpowered when you're on a "good" run. Has fun, satisfying objectives. DRG survivors objectives are severely lacking, and that's what made DRG so fun and replayable - the fun objectives along the way.
Personally i think your putting more effort into TRYING to pick apart the game for a video. So far ive listened to 5 mins and not sure what your own about but if it took this sort of thought process to analyze a game for a video, YOU need a new game. For ROCK AND STONE!
given that we're playing as "Reclaimers", i'd say the different colours are gonna be assigned to player number rather than class - or maybe each one corresponds to a different Suit Mod?
time dilation apparently slows down all enemies according to something, but I forget what. Pretty awesome all things considered. Also I think bastion might just be the suit itself, not a mod, since its a passive, either that or something else entirely.
Some destructible dwarf made structures?? 3:21 Fences, barrels, bunkers, etc. Should they be kickable objects when destroyed or should they be deleted entirely to avoid potential physics breaking like with barrels. Or should all the physics finally be fixed in DRG2, so we can all have the long awaited barrel collecting objective as DRGs new eco-friendly PR stunt.
Don't worry, Historian, our beloved Quantrite might still get implemented as an A r t e f a c t. Also, Gold Frenzy-like buff system? Oooh Yeaah! P.S: Nice analysis )
Question for the devs: Will DRG and Deep Core use partially shared codebase internally, or will they be entirely separate from code perspective? I'm asking because I wonder whether technical changes such as recent weapon buffer input would impact both games. Perhaps clearer way to ask my question is: will the both games use common game engine that will affect both games when updated with technical changes? And by engine I don't mean unreal, but the common part of code that is being used both by DRG and Deep Core
question to devs: do you think implementing more creature-player interactions (such as "beast master" perk, or being able to fly using flying stingrays) would be a good idea? Going deeper into the hoxxes would mean that the dwarves should have deeper connection with fauna and flora, because it's not a simple "go in and out" type of job anymore, it's going into the belly of the beast.
My main concern about Rogue Core is that at this point in its description this game sounds too much like DRG. Or even more precisely, like a Deep Dive, but with its own set of biomes and players equipment. And may happen so, that RC would feel just like a big, long waited update for DRG, and DRG at the same time would starve from the lack of new content. In other words, Rogue Core would be just a season update torn from the main game
I feel the game would be mix between DRG and GTFO. What worries me, that because the game started as gamemode/part of DRG. That it will be bit gamicky. That why we getting it in early access.
A rogue lite in DRG that's co-op sounds fucking fantastic to me. It sounds like a complete blast. The only thing I don't like is how long it's gonna take for DRG itself to get an update. That is a huge bummer.
DRG's universe is weird, it I plies the existence of Humans and Elves, I hope we see a spinoff in which we play as Elves doing logging or farming or something, idk.
maybe with rogue core, will we finally see the "upgraded" mini mules that were (acidentally?) teased like, what? 2-ish years ago on a devstream? that would be cool
I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much. I already know Drg is lightning in bottle and rogue core probably won’t meet up to those expectations, but I still hope it will be fun.
I agree. An endless, mode, class ideas, and a bunch of other stuff the community wants could fit into the mold of rogue core, and honestly? No it wouldnt fit into the normal deep rock mold, and I'm more than happy to pay for it.
Great analysis, didn't even get all these little details. I'm curious about how this game will be once it is ready. I like rogue likes and rogue lites. It might just bring me back into the DRG-verse.
Im hoping for a game that goes the GTFO route of coop I really hope that this game will be hard, since its said that a huge mining operation is just quiet now If its the same difficulty as drg then it would break the immersion
Please start with cross platform gameplay I know they are developing just for PC but hope that if it comes to console it has this so i can play with all my friends not just PlayStation
I'm certain I'm in the absolute minority here, but I'm not sure I like what's implied with the estimate of 5 minutes per phase in a given level. I hope there will be some way to adjust that in the game.
I really hope they will be actually ELITE. Because how the hell would they beat MIners? They should be faster, stronger and posses power armor or (phase suits). I'm looking into a gameplay like Doom Eternal where you have abilityes like freeze grenade, flame belch, chainsaw etc. and some have a cooldown and others need to recharge by killing on weakpoints, mele etc.
Eaither Doom or like a Warhammer space marine like feel. They shout lines like "If I'm to die... I DIE STANDING. Eaither of them is good for me but don't make a second DRG with a little extra rng and stuff sprinkled and call it "they are better" more elite at shit.
I had a small theory: OSR can be found on all maps right? And that oil has to come from somewhere which leads me to think it comes from the core. Oil is the only material we haven't actually seen where it's from. Maybe rogue core will reveal some stuff or it's just for gameplay purposes and I'm reaching like crazy

its good that they are making a new game they cant adding content to drg the game will get to bloated with content its better to have a new game that has more space for content than continuing to update the same game for years causing the devs to lose motivation people forget that devs are real people and can get bored on working on the same game for years having a new game lets the devs explore with new ideas that could not be possible in drg I think drg is at its end of its life and a new game is the best thing that can happen for the franchise
I just hope they keep first person games in the future. Let's be honest rouge likes are a bloated genre and not a lot of people like them. I don't want more drg stuff locked behind unfun games. It would be like turning gta into a turn based. Maybe leave hoxxes in future games so they're not limited to glyphids maybe. Before that I still want a super boss mission with an end faze dreadnought

Oh boy. Games there supposed to DLC or expansions at first never turn out well. See Saints Row 4, Asassins Creed Mirage or now Modern Warfare 3 2023
I believe it was confirmed that Time Dilation will slow time for everything except for the dwarves
Edit: I am quite sure the monitor they have on their arms shows the suit ability cooldown
Expenite being used for levels feels like more of a reimplementation of Gold Frenzy to me, but either way it'd be cool to see it in action.
Looking forward to it. Always thought DRGs cave gen and equipment could work well in a tenser game. Make the caves generally darker and slow down the pace.
7:16 Wait oh my god those are Morkite Seed pods
I'm calling it right now, I think Karl is gonna make an apperance in rogue core, most likely as a boss I think. It could either be he has been corrupted like bet-c but by the core itself or some parasite, or he could be out for revenge, he could also be a good guy throughout but I think him appearing as a boss is more likely
Bro that would be so cool because we have never fought. A boss that’s well dwarve sized
Omg the voice lines would be amazing! I can already imagine bringing a helmet or backpack to the exifiltration zone while your dwarves wisper to themselves "no dwarf left behind."
Funniest comment and comment section.
I hope he doesn't I personally really like the ambiguity of Karl
I think these stations are checkpoint previous dwarves have made to make it safer for other to go deeper. Also the minecarts could be a way to choose which way you want to go.
My opinion on the games are mix. There has to be enough new content to warrant a new game.
I really hope that when we get our hands on rogue core, modders port things between games. I imagine that wouldnt be too nightmarish, just a little.
My only fear is that rouge core will take resources from drg
Or drg will take resources from rouge core
And both games will suffer drought of new content
Nonetheless i am still supporting ghost ship games even if their new game flops
I want to be hyped for this, but Im very wary to trust GSG to not slowly lose interest in developing DRG
Ngl excited for rouge core to see the new bosses and enemies
Not sure anyone talked about it yet but this could be like a prequel to the DRG company or from the perspective of a rival dwarf company if possible. Thatd be neat
Since Season 5 for DRG is going to be a Prelude to Rogue Core I doubt it's a prequel to DRG itself.
Time-line wise, it's happening at the same time as DRG. The Reclaimers and Space Rig 17 are operating at the same time. Just separate teams.
Time dilation is explained at around 12:00 if you look up the video "Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core Showcase (On The Horizon 2023)"
Basically "Slows down everything".
I hope they think about solo players. And not put objectives that are almost impossible to do alone
I was super excited to hear about Rouge Core, really looking forward to it
After having a week to mull over this announcement my feelings have definitely improved towards it.
After all they're dwarves, they always find to have good time, unless these dwarves are Duergar and are actually way more cynical than their cousins.
roueg coer
i think it could be fun :3
the way i see deep rock is a finished game with lot of replayability and now we are getting a completely new game set in the same world, how are people worried or not excited? im like 99% sure only good things can come from this
it's because people don't like the idea of a game ceasing support from the developers. Even though there is a very small percentage of both Companies relying only one game in their history and live service titles that survived and maintained the perfection it had before
Because we love the game we've already got, lol. And of course we would like to see more meaningful updates for DRG rather than 300 spin-offs. But if this game turns out to be good while not outshining the previous one in the eyes of devs, then I'm all for it
I believe the time dilation to be a kf2 zed time ability. If so, things are gonna be diabolical.
I genuinely don't know how they're going to stop players fighting over what perks to get. Because if you have a close quarters player and a sniper on the team. There's going to be competing interests.
Wdym they should just take the best perk for their loadout
@@bullet3417 Didn't they say that the perks are team shared?
i want ghost ship games to make the games they want to make. So i fully support rogue core :)
Regarding "Time Dilation" - i think, devs were talking about that ability on game showcase. Martin Pedersen mentioned ability that allows player to literally slow down time, but all of the dwarves will be able to move and shoot normally
So rogue core related questions:
That said, ive always felt like this universe has the potential to be really freaking creepy if they play it out right
I think thyme dilation widens your herbs
What's interesting about this Rogue Core gamemode is how similar it is to DRG survivors. DRG survivors also has 5 dives and these small incremental upgrades before a boss fight, and it's also a bit of a roguelike vibe with suit mods etc before the run.
I hope DRG does the following things:
Makes player characters distinctly different than DRG.
Honestly, i really like that they are creating more games of different genre in the same universe of deep rock
Question for the devs:
Will DRG and Deep Core use partially shared codebase internally, or will they be entirely separate from code perspective?
Why are people upset about Rogue Core?! Jeeeez
Notices Rock Raiders OST
*A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURRED*
*A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURRED*
*A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURRED*
Dang. I thought this was going to be an alternate deep dive mechanic. (A deeper dive that focuses on new unique objectives/mission types)
i think rogue core is only a good thing tbh
Great analysis, didn't even get all these little details. I'm curious about how this game will be once it is ready. I like rogue likes and rogue lites. It might just bring me back into the DRG-verse.
Im hoping for a game that goes the GTFO route of coop
I really hope that this game will be hard, since its said that a huge mining operation is just quiet now
If its the same difficulty as drg then it would break the immersion
wait so is this a separate game which is a spin off of the main game or is it a very deep rework of DRG?
Please start with cross platform gameplay
I know they are developing just for PC but hope that if it comes to console it has this so i can play with all my friends not just PlayStation
I'm certain I'm in the absolute minority here, but I'm not sure I like what's implied with the estimate of 5 minutes per phase in a given level. I hope there will be some way to adjust that in the game.
My question for the devs is... will they update DRG in the downtime to make rockpox nicer?
So "Rogue Core" is gonna be similar to "Gunfire Reborn" or am I wrong?
My gut tells me this isn't a whole new game so much as an expansion pack. Not sure if it's going to be any good. Guess we'll see.
Are they continuing to use unreal engine? If so what version will rogue core be on? I’m curious because unreal 5 has better lighting than unreal 4
Always a good day when Drg Historian uploads, really keen for Rogue Core
It would be cool if rouge core went for a darker more spooky atpmosphere, the trailer gave me that kind of feeling
Eaither of them is good for me but don't make a second DRG with a little extra rng and stuff sprinkled and call it "they are better" more elite at shit.
just wait a few days before getting any new game, then check the reviews. let the suckers buy early
I Personally think ill like the game i just dont like that drg's 5th season is being delayed until june
Damn, OpenTTD music 🤩
Would be cool if there was an upgrade to use bosco in multiplayer.
Good luck having to wait until july 2024 for season 5 guys
how will the closed alpha work ? will anyone be able to subscribe to it or just a few selected players ?
I had a small theory:
OSR can be found on all maps right? And that oil has to come from somewhere which leads me to think it comes from the core.
Oil is the only material we haven't actually seen where it's from.
Maybe rogue core will reveal some stuff or it's just for gameplay purposes and I'm reaching like crazy
The ground in the fire fissure image seems reflective, maybe a biome with fire and ice?
Its call of duty zombies but with procedural generation.
Giving me what AAA studios ignored for years.
Cant wait
lol how is they can be similar if drg rogue will be roguelike?
Ok so why does the rogue core suggestion channel on the discord already have a ton of suggestions when we hardly know anything about it.
To me it's a nice way to regroup everything in the same place. Is it useful to the devs though ? No idea
The fire geysers look like theyre coming out of a frozen lake aka Glacial Strata
LETS GO ROCK RAIDERS OST!!
I've never done a deep dive before. It's because I don't know how to promote someone.
Love that OpenTTD soundtrack lol
super excited and for the questions
Are there more roles and or different roles?
