Everyone loves free speech; problem is that a number of people's concept of free speech isn't actually all that free.
private businesses are under no obligation to provide its customers/users with unbridled free speech, it doesn't even work that way in the normal real world... sure one can say anything they want, but that does not mean its free of consequence.

I think that female 'journalist' forgets Twitter is a private company not a government service, even if the Government chooses to use it that way. How about holding the Govt accountable for using Twitter to disseminate information and not a Govt only platform made for that purpose?
Absolutely! Note the excitement and protest from the groups, ideologies and political parties who can no longer manipulate the former undesirable or challenging narrative, typically having them blocked or shut down.
From what I understand that was precisely why Musk invested in it, so it could be a neutral platform for debate/discussion vs the propaganda machine it had devolved into.
Who defines "Truth"? Absolute truth or relative...Your definition of truth?? Who really needs Twitter, any social media. I dont!!
This is exactly the entire point of free speech. Each person can have their own relative truths and largely be free to express it. This at least allows a fair consensus to be come to rather than a curated narrow set of beliefs as it had been on Twitter.

It’s not like the far left views being enabled on Twitter are based on science, they are often based on strong negative emotion actually. Don't trust him - he bought a massive lot of Bitcoin and then afterwards praised it highly wanted to accept it as payment for his cars over a year ago, and only then its value rose - then a few weeks later had sold the lot without warning (sounds like a profit) and declined it as payment - the subsequent fall in Bitcoin value caused millions to lose a lot of money !
Market manipulation through lies is and has been Elon's modus operandi for years. As owner (through moderation) he can tweak which narratives are toned up or down. Without proper legislation and transparency this means he basically has the power to manipulate all stocks and all elections in every single country on earth. He is the least trustworthy person to put in this sort of position.
yes he does seem to have benefitted from the global Bitcoin pump and dump..... obviously it wouldn't be anything to do with his pronouncements on the subject or Tesla's widely publishing but temporary acceptance of bitcoin to pay for cars..... he's got far too much integrity for that.

I agree with making these people coming to the office. If other people that can’t work from home do well and are not getting sick, they need to come to work. No more work from home.
Why, if the workers can save 2-3 hours of transit time and achieve the same production? It’s good for the planet and mental health.
Its a waste if resources to continue working in a office that you heat and cool. It cost money to operate. Shove the operator cost on the employee. No toilet paper cost, building maintenance.

Why is to so hard for people to see that interconnection to the internet itself is the 'public square' for free speech, not the individual privately owned platforms, sites and apps on to it? Nobody is or was preventing anyone from completing the apparently monumental task of clicking/tapping on the address bar and going somewhere different, or putting up your own site and putting literally anything you wanted whatsoever on it. This is a societal problem cause by people _choosing_ to live in bubbles, not Elon Musk or Jack Dorsey's.

I've gone to do the work by reading his tweet on this midterm just 3-days ago the one which he shared what was his own belief on who he's voting..Yes, he said his recommendation is voting for Republican Congress to share power. Again, should that be wrong what's the justification, unless you have proof he's personally on the moderation team. Again, people all over these kinda forums have this fear that he's running interference without proof, kinda like the incidents over every election every year since twitter became a news platform ppl deemed the most influential of resources, that's since when I've no idea, but it started whenever everyone began showing fear over who's in-control of twitter moderation no?

The fact seems to be that you can have free speech, provided it’s free speech with which Musk agrees.
You miss by a mile the nuance of "free speech". BTW, firing him did nothing to limit his freedom to say whatever he wants. For most any company to be successful, there has to be a sense of 'TEAM'. In Space X, it is essential: lives are at stake as well as investments (i.e. the viability of the company). Bottom line, it wasn't Musk's 'feelings' which were potentially harmed.
Free speech doesn't include yelling fire in a theatre, so we know there are limits, and they are set by intent. A person could be found liable for speech with a malicious intent. In an ideal world perhaps having the loudest megaphone shouldn't make a difference but it does. The person with the loudest megaphone either must practice meticulous discernment in who that person allows to use it or none. I hope that a population well educated in civics and the humanities can separate the BS from what has value. America teaches to pass tests and get a job, not have a well rounded educations.
The problem is that America has chosen to politically educate itself by listening to the loudest demagogue and then tuning in ONLY to media that re-enforce the listener's chosen prejudices. That is how you get to the absurd situation where people celebrate committing treason by invading the capitol and 40% of Republicans think the election was fraudulent DESPITE the absence of a single piece successful lawsuit on the subject (because it simply wasn't).
America doesn't need to worry about an ascendant China, the US is in the process of becoming two countries or one country + a real, shooting, civil war.... after which Somalia will look like a pretty well organised country by comparison.
Free Speech in a privately owned theater means you can yell all you want, play the movies you like. Twitter is Private property of a Private owner, if you don't like it, build your own website.

You've made up your mind that 'they' (the left/far left) can accurately decide what is and is not bs/conspiracy theories/hate speech etc. There are many on the new left who believe that simply disagreeing with them on, say, transgender issues, constitutes 'hate'. You/they have changed the definition of 'hate' to include things you dislike. That makes no sense. Leave speech alone. A few common sense restrictions e.g. disallowing doxing, calls for violence and illegal material, makes sense. The 'marketplace of ideas' will sort out the rest of it.

Just quit twitter, something will rise up in it's place if it's so irreplaceable. The fact is it isn't all that important and it's just a messaging app with some glitter here and there. Facebook and the rest are the same deal. Interaction metrics (which elon loves to boast) don't equate to platform value or necessity. And those metrics alone have nothing to do with brand safe for advertisers. Humans will interact will all sorts of junk it doesn't make it irreplaceable, there's an argument for the opposite in many cases. I don't think humans as a whole were ready for computers and their rapid role in modern society, this is the larger problem.
