My favourite is the Bob Jog, because not only is it amusing, it's also literally a running gag.
Hi Ted!
It's also a highly stylized version of John Wayne's walk.
@@angelawd that's exactly what I was thinking
My favorite fake book was the one that Ted gives Alexis 'Opening Your Heart to Animals: A Guide to the Benefits of Caring for Something Other Than Yourself"- LOLOL umm...very specific!
They actually made that into a book as well! It's able to buy on Amazon, I think
🤣🤣🤣 right?!!!!
one of the more subtle running gags was asking for something and then rejecting it. for example..
moira: oh, i need some tea. twyla!
twyla: tea?
moira: no, thank you.
there are a few of those moments in the show and they ALWAYS get me.
Or when one of Alexis's old friends (I forgot her name) asked for warm water that has been left out to cool and then when twy gives it to her she’s like “oh I didn’t order that”
✋️😭
and the scone patrick bought for her
yes, LOL.
(patrick offers to get moira tea from the cafe)
patrick: anything else?
moira: nothing else for me dear, just the scone.
patrick: ..you mean the tea?
moira: why not? thank you!
(later, after patrick returns and hands her the tea)
patrick: I wasn't sure about the scone so I got one just to be safe.
moira (looking perplexed): there's nothing wrong with treating yourself, dear.
Yes! Like when David said to Moira “I wasn’t sure about the scone, so I just got one just in case” and she said “there’s not problem treating yourself dear” even though she asked for it😂
Also I don’t think I quoted these perfectly, but it’s close enough
The best is David constantly asking ‘Who’s Gwen?’ whenever she’s mentioned!
That a great line! That's why he and I so much in common, I so understand him.. every part of him!
Nope!! David's "Oh God", (softly) are priceless!!🤣🤣
@@BearHawks like the first scene "where's that weird man? Well he's been in there a long time OMG " and turns his head when Roland opens the bathroom door 😂
@@tiffanystarbeck2279 Yes!! Or ALL the times "people" disgust him.🤣🤣
@@BearHawks or "what if I'm not ready to come home " "you have a bug on your dress" "FUCK" or " don't know how to fold in broken cheese " he truly is my spirit animal!! 😂😂😂
The best running gag was hands down how obvious it was that Gwen didn’t like Bob. Locking him out of the house, telling him not to come home if Christmas World didn’t get approved, etc
Agree think this should have been on here!!
Never noticed this!!
We crack up now when we rewatch it and catch a hint
I never noticed any of that, oh well, back to the show I go
“her male cousin is visiting again”
Maybe it's not frequent enough to be considered a running gag, but I love David and Stevie's "Best Wishes" "Warmest Regards" exchange.
Yessss! Cuz they're being totally sarcastic! 🤣🤣🤣
David responding “I don’t know what that means ...” multiple times.
I do a great Moira impression!
"I don't know what that means" is also a spectrum (autism) thing. People often say things they expect others to understand when what they say literally doesn't make sense.
@oliviakinter179 Word for word the same response as yours.
Lmfaooooo Twyla was the sweetest because she was a millionaire! She literally had no worries at All! I loved that for her
When that was revealed, it allllll made sense. Lol
I loved this when we found out!
Ted's puns should have been on this list.
My favorite gag is Moira’s vocabulary choices... I’m going to rewatch the series with a dictionary handy!
She used the word “buttressed” once and I’m waiting for the chance to use it myself
“Why it’s practically obsidian in here!” I use obsidian all the time now.
My favourite is “jabberwocky”
I thought I had a decent vocabulary, until Moira. I looked up more words than I'd like to admit in those six seasons.
I dont understand 1/4 of the things she says
The fact that they never have “champagne”, it’s always “jampagne” - some off-brand budget version of bubbly vino.
Lol you mean zhampagne? That's my favourite gag
I would switch out David disgusted face with David’s love of food!! “I didn’t carry you up a Mountain not to eat cheese” will always be the best!!!
David's sweaters! Especially the one with giant stars of David appliques. Perfect. David lipsyncing simply the best to Patrick. A genius show. Binge watching it now.
"Sorry, I was shame eating".🤣🤣
“The cookie was more than enough!…in fact I ate half of it on the way over here”
You have to love someone who has just informed the love of his life that he needs time to process the hurt he’s just inflicted on him, then hints for him to fetch him some food from the bbq lol
I really loved Moira's different PJs--always with a coordinating tailored vest and sometimes a brooch.
My hubby commented on that!! Who sleeps in a suit!?🤣🤣
@@BearHawks omg! I noticed 3 episodes in!! It bugged me at first, but I'm use it now with the rewatching
And Johnny used to wear a dress shirt lol
All the sleeping outfits. David wears what you imagine he wears during the day.
We need Moira to record audiobooks now.
Preferably “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” for all the bebes.
Except she would end up rewriting all of them... You know the published vocab would not be up to snuf.
Yes!
I totally 💖❤🧡💛💚💙💜 this suggestion!!
Boop, when Alexis touches everyone’s nose. Love it, use that move on my cat!
I taught the Alexis "boop" to my dog as well!
Me too! She hates it 😂
Can't imagine any animal would appreciate this or think it's cute. 🙄
I related to this because I do this to my daughter all the time.. Ever since she was little and I do it to toddlers! They seem to love it💛
The name dropping, especially when done by Alexis.
The running gag of Ray have so many successful, unrelated small businesses... or everyone loving Patrick except for Ronnie.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 she hates him and she's the only one... So damn funny!
The Bob jog is one of most hilarious things on the show 😂😂
Exactly! Followed by David’s phrase “O my God” and Moira’s hysterical screams😀
Lol shamed to say i never consciously noticed it but oh my gosh is it hilarious
@@JC_Cali I didn't notice how often he did it. I feel like there's always so much comedy gold occurring at once that it is hard to take it all in. I have to rewatch it!
@@angelarieksts9089 as do i! And it'll be my second time rewatching lol
Favorite...lots of my friends never noticed it.
patrick and stevie ganging up together and teasing david for sure
I loved the episode where they put the plungers on main display and how much it clearly bothered David, but he didn't want to let them know it bothered him.
David Rose's disgusted face is my face whenever I'm out in public.
My favorite was Patrick and Ronnie's hatred of each other.
More like Ronnie's hatred and Patrick's fear.
@@marleshakeys this🤣🤣🤣
No Ray and all his odd jobs mentioned?
Yes!! I love how Ray always directs people to the local whatever...which also happens to be him.
@@pamelalansbury94 Like Kirk from Gilmore Girls
@@pamelalansbury94 And his billboard signs are hilarious. They look so cheap.
When John says: "...when you immigrated from ? ... " and Ray spits out "Winnipeg". That was SOOOO funny!!!
@@pamelalansbury94 It’s almost like he’s an accidental scammer/hustler, because he doesn’t seem smart enough to purposely coordinate the multi-business strategy.
I love how Moira pronounces words so oddly.
I binge watched this show in less than 2 weeks, then re-watched it again.
If you think i’m going to watch it all again, then you’re absolutely right 😂🙌🏽
What a great program!
I binge watched it in 4 days
same!
Saaaame🤣🤣🤣
The Bob jog is ICONIC!
Moira's unidentifiable accent is the best!
Its more an exaggerated pronounciation of words then an accent.
Affective transatlantic, old-hollywood theatre RP accent with a side of drunk.
and consistently inconsistent.
@@tessaducek5601 …..there’s a line on the show where a motel reviewer describes her as having an unidentifiable accent.
Catherine O'Hara is one of the few underrated best actresses we have in our time! I love her!
She REALLY is! 💛
Stevie's poker face... priceless!
I like how [mostly] David and Alexis ask [mostly] their parents .. “What does that mean?”
Examples: David asking Moira what “fold in the cheese”means, and asking Johnny what “word to the wise” means. 🤣
“Everybody Knows Benefit for juvenile rhinoplasty” 😂😂😂
Everybody Nose 😉
Um - how is David's various and sundry iterations of "Oh My God!" NOT number 1???????????????????
I like the way Alexis kept referencing to her music career and we finally got "A little bit Alexis"
I liked how Stevie and David ended up sharing the same guy.
Of course Moira's outfits. I'm surprised they didn't make the list.
David's sweaters
Also the Tamagotchi story between Alexis and David and then Stevie is playing with one at the desk.
Also Moira mentions a memory of a Galapagonian tortoise foot bath which ties into the galapagos islands with Ted later in the show.
What about the gag when the cafe menu keeps getting bigger over the seasons?
I didn't notice that it kept getting bigger!!! lol
Definitely because of the Rose's for sure lol. Also I loved how Alexis either got used to Twylas bad smoothies or she got better because she ordered them throughout the series even though they were notoriously bad from what Ted tells her in season 1 lol.
I noticed! The four of them in a booth with menus was a nightmare!
Good eye!
It was a huge, 4 page menu since the very first episode.
No.9 the bad gifts. This doesn't feel like a running gag. Both things mentioned happened in the same episode. Feels like a pretty contained gag.
Lots of these don't feel like gags, just characterisation. Like David's disgust face, isn't a gag.
I agree, I was confused why they’d choose that in a show so full of gags.
I thought so too. That only happened those two times in the show.
Yeah, you’d think people who make these videos would know what a “gag” is when compiling a montage... but neuuu.
My partner and I discovered this show last year and devoured the entire run. I can honestly say I was heartbroken when it ended. It’s in my top 10 favourite shows of all time
ADORE ADORE ADORE
If I watch too much Schitt’s Creek in a row, I catch myself accidentally talking like Moira. No one else in my family watches this, so then everyone thinks I’m nuts. 😂
I end up talking like Alexis! “Ew” is a regular word in my vocabulary now
My favorite running gag was how none of the members of the Rose family (Stevie included) ever paid for anything at Rose Apothecary. From Alexis stealing lip balms to Moira putting a jar of cream in her purse to Stevie leaving with a plunger, it cracks me up everytime.
“ I over paid for a wedge of Brie last week, so I think we call it it even”
The Roses have as many clothes while in Schitts Creek as the Howells did on Gilligan's Island.
The show is brilliant.
Yessss!!!!
I love Moira.... from her wigs to her singing .... to all of her mispronunciations! She’s a gem!
I'll never say Baby again....Bebe'
or enchilada- will forever be "on-cha-la-daa".
@@cheryltriplett8444 Yes!!!
Me too!!
@@cheryltriplett8444 lol omg thnk you for that. I listened to it over & over and it just didn't register 🤣🤪Honestly I'm not stupid 🤪🤣
I will NEVER call my grandchildren "bebe's"!?🤣
We need a whole running gag dedicated to gwens backstory 😂 *didn’t get electrocuted because she was wearing a rubber dress *uses the computer library to email her “friend” I need a video where this is all pieced together
I've always wondered about that too
@@sharonroy2645 there has to be a whole backstory of how her and non separated if you put everyone’s comments about her together
It’s so hilarious and whomever makes this future video will be doing god’s work.
I'm gonna have to stop doing the David face under my mask because when the pandemic is over I'm gonna really offend some people
I feel this 😂👏🏾
🤣🤣🤣
Oh my gosh! Me too.
Lmao. I'm never stopping. It's apart of me now.
Lol
Johnny not being good with technology should have been on this list
Moira and Alexis saying "David!!!"
Jocelyn's "smile"...
I think one of the strongest messages I've received from watching Schitt's Creek is that female comedians continue to have value. Catherine O'hara, I sadly admit I only knew from Lydia's mom in Beetlejuice... and that was from a movie 30 years ago! She is so talented and funny! I look forward to seeing whatever she stars in!
Please tell me you have seen her in all the Christopher Guest movies...? If not, go watch them all now! Catherine is hilarious and incredible in them. Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration. She is one of the main ensemble characters in the first three, and the star of the fourth. Eugene Levy stars in all four movies as well, and they play couples in two of them. They are stellar movies full of wacky characters, just like Schitt's Creek.
Kevin's Mom in Home Alone...
@@lcoffey4 I'm definitely going to go and watch those! Thank you sincerely for the recommendations!!
@@LawNerd24 I forgot! KEVIN!!!!
You will love them! When you see them, you may get a sense of where Daniel got the knack for creating wacky, yet very believable characters. “This Is Spinal Tap” was Christopher Guest’s first foray into hilarious mockumentaries. I’m pretty sure he and Michael McKeon invented the genre and they just got funnier from there. “A Mighty Wind” and “Best in Show” are my favorites. Eugene and Catherine together are comedy gold. Daniel and Annie clearly have that same magic.
... as a hat, over her real hair 🤣
And I didn’t even catch that! Now I’m going to have to watch a third time!
This made me want to rewatch Schitt’s Creek for the 2 millionth time. Thank you
I want Moira pronunciation for EVERYTHING!
They really should make an app for this.
One of my favorite things that wasn’t mentioned was how Alexis would put her hands out vertically on a desk or table and lift them up and down when she was telling a story. I don’t know how else to explain the movement...
Anyone else notice this?
I agree, I find her hand movements fascinating!
Surely one of the best lines is “how do you fold in the cheese?”
"If you use the word "fold" one more time! "🤣🤣🤣
Holy crap how have I never noticed the Bob Jog
Same!
lol
Oh good, I wasn’t the only one!
David's love for food is my favourite running gag. Also it's relatable.
LOVE the Bob jog
Bob Jog is A Sped up John Wayne
Alexis has truly lived. Her "adventures" were the best!
the faces David makes are my favorite part of the whole show LOL
Everytime my husband sees 'the Bob Jog', he laugh out loud. Every. Damn. Time.
I love how this channel loves schitt's creek
I love how I've committed to running into the scene every single time
david’s ’oh my god’
Just finished the series today, loved it!!!
I love this show. I rewatch it all the time
Love the prequel idea!
I love how this channel is obsessed with SC. So am I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
And her step-dad was clearly having an extra marital with his secretary lol
I just finished binge watching the whole series. It is a great show.
Best Schitts commentary yet! Good job!
Loved this! Most of Moira's accent weren't actually mispronunciations - they were usually English or French, like "bébé"
I think Jocelyn's changing hairstyles throughout the series should make the list too. Including when she got Moira to go with her to her hair salon.
Bob is my favorite character! Love him!!!! 😍🧡
BOB!!!!!! LOVE that jog!!!!! His character ALWAYS made me smile!!!! :-D
Love your picks msmojo 😊
The best one is ew david
Instead of #6 "David Rose's Disgusted Face", I would have said David Rose's Sour Face he makes every time he drinks alcohol. See episodes Little Sister, New Car, Moira Rosé, The Job Interview, and Happy Ending.
Ironic, I just finished watching a marathon of the show this morning. Then saw this on suggestions to watch. Great show
I LOVE the Bob jog ALOT!!! 🤣
Moira seems like a more fleshed out SCTV's Lola Heatherton
Moira’s accent is a Canadian thing, It’s kind of how we would pretend to speak in a La-dee-da way, about someone who is full of self-importance. What’s hilarious to me as a Canadian fan is that Moira has so naively taken on this way of speaking for real. Lots of irony there.
.. She's Canadian, though?
It’s definitely NOT a Canadian thing, but that gave me a good laugh. It’s a consistently inconsistent affectation of pretentious old-hollywood theatre RP, transatlantic “drunk” and a drop of East London.
The Bob Jog is basically Carrie Bradshaw crossing manhattan streets, Schitt’s Creek edition hahahah
I miss this show sm
La La La a little bit Alexis.....prequel.
Nothing tops Moira's ridiculous vocabulary and metaphors. 😂
Love The Bob Jog!
David being afraid of moths just killed me!! My 47 year old son is scared of moths!
Definitely the "bebe" gag!
My *favorite* running (like every ep.) “gag” was David’s choice in fashion. I know it was supposed to come off as over the top, ridiculous, & odd (as well as the special care he gives his knits-which most of the world calls sweaters). Some of them admittedly cracked me up, but most of the time I was envious. I’m sure part of that is the fact that I became totally enamored with the character of David Rose. And from his public interviews & appearances, Daniel Levy is a doll as well.
I’ve always wanted my gps voice to be Moira rose
Love the Bob jog.
I soo love this show! I am not one to watch tv series but Schitt’s Creek hit the jackpot for me!
Bebe is not a mispronounciation as it is Frecnh for baby.
I wish “Banshees On A Plane” was a real book
Alexis travel stories are the best!! She was my favorite.
David: I don’t know what that means...
Bob jog is hilarious 🤣
Really? John's gift-giving? That concept was only mentioned in one episode. It does not deserve to be considered a running gag, and there are plenty of other actual running gags in the show that deserved to make the list:
*Ted's affinity for puns
*Roland's inability to keep his cool when needing to act or pretend
*Moira's ever extensive vocabulary
*Everything about Gwen
*Ray's many side businesses
*Ray always bringing up the Rose family's downfall in every conversation
Just some examples of actual running gags that should have been considered
I agree! 💯
My favorite gag is: Anything with Ray in it
Thought I was going to choke laughing b/c after my most recent trip to the ER last week...yup...Covid +, I made a joke to my husband that I should have kept all my hospital bracelets from my past 59 years and then watched the episode where Twyla talks about her grandfather’s hospital bracelets!!! 🤣
I love that scene in the car...David was like I was worrying bout you when yoh was traveling all over.. they should count down 10 more serious moments. I love them...add depth to character.
