  • The last United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket launched the NROL-70 mission from Space Launch Complex-37 (SLC-37) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, on 9 April 2024, at 16:53 UTC (12:53 EDT). The NROL-70 mission was launched for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). This was the 16th and final launch of a Delta IV Heavy rocket.

      Its just the buoyant hydrogen gas, which is used to cool down the rocket before launch, which ignites and burns off.

    Not only is this the last flight of the delta 4 heavy a truly incredible rocket, this marks the end of a rocket that launched the US’s first satellite into orbit😢. You have been with us since the beginning of space flight and now you go to sleep. I love you, Delta forever and ever.

      Geosynchronous still has some room. Think of it as the Alaska of Earth orbits; low in population density.
