Halfway through the walk
Apparently some people thought that we(hanson and everyone on the walk) were rioting... LOL! so someone called the cops and the cop called taylor(because he had the mega phone) out into the middle of the street to tell him to stay out of the street...
They started on taylor again after the walk was over and started telling him that we were all going to get run over.
The cops stayed around the venue watching us from their bikes for the rest of the evening. apparently they had nothing better to do.
Props to the cop for showing all of us what a complete jerk he is!
Kudos to Taylor for handling it so well!
Yeah. I was wondering why they were standing in the middle of the street too.
there was actually no sidewalk in charlotte during the walk. the sidewalk in front of the venue was ridiculously small and if anyone stepped ONE toe down on the street the cops threatened to arrest them. it was so bizarre.

Tay has a lot of patience, there are many people that would have been nasty. But Tay was really great and patient about it.
S*** son... love Hanson's music, always will, but new props must be made! Way to go Taylor for attempting to make diplomacy with an ignorant member of the PO PO! This video made my life.
Gianlucajames i think it's good that he talked to taylor as if he were not famous, why should celebrities be treated differently by police...
It's not like he arrested Taylor or anything he was trying to keep people from walking in the road I've seen police do more unreasonable things than caution people
Notice Taylor walked as slow as possible to get to the crosswalk...
From what I heard, some of the people on the walk were stepping off of the sidewalk and into the road because there wasn't enough room for everyone on the sidewalk. So in order to rectify this little problem, a cop called Tay out into the middle of the road to tell him to get people... out of the road. :\

During the walk, a bunch of people were walking in the street and the cop told Taylor to get everyone off the street, basically.
haha i love how someone says at the endm "does he even know who he is??" lol... like, you can't talk to taylor that way...
ok that cop was a complete idiot ! I mean if he had let Taylor explain then been like"ok that's great just make sure you keep everyone off the street as best you can, we don't want anyone hurt" instead of "I don't really care what your doing" like come on is it really necessary to be such a jerk about it? I know the man was just doing his job but still...kudos to Tay for handling it so well :)
wow. wouldn't it be hilarious if on one of the walks everyone got arrested and then they found out what it was for? it would bring SO much attention to the Toms Shoes cause.
I was standing next to Ike while this was happening, lol, and we were all like "WTF?" cause we couldn't hear anything, lol
I love how the cop is so fricken rude and yet Taylor is still like everyone say thank you to the cop for watching out for our safety-lol as if that cop actually cared. Way to kill 'em with kindness :D
taylor is amazing how he askes the fans to say thank you for the police watching their safety when this stupid cop wouldn't even listen to Tay when he was like: "Okay, I just want to let you know what we're doing here" (Cop: "I don't even care") . Damn he's so cool!
@Breniznit i agree cops have more better things 2 do than worry about that. i mean it wasnt even that serious its not like anyone was throwing chairs or food or anything like that. they were just walking barefoot 2 help raise awareness 2 HIV/AIDS and poverty in africa.
I would love to do a Walk but I dont think I could walk barefoot. I mean imagine if you stepped in a big honkin' pile of shit. That memory and feeling of stepping in it would be with you forever.

I would just like to point out that tay wanted to explain to the cop what was going on and why they were walk yet the cop said i dont care.... oh at least here the cop cars were not trying to run the walkers overs like in poughkeepsie.
@shootingsportspro i wasnt even there im not even close 2 NC. i live in tulsa, ok and i dont go to concerts walks outside of tulsa b/c my dad takes me 2 concerts and walks. so u need 2 think b4 u speak. and what i said about my cousin in my comment above is true he works 4 the sheriff's department in tulsa and patrols the whole north side of tulsa. plus someone said on here that at some points during the walk they had 2 walk in the street b/c of the construction going on.
thats so stupid cops have other things to do other than worrying about a riot ( even though it wasnt) i mean what if there was a robbery or murder going on they wouldnt care. my cousin would he works 4 the sheriff's department and has been top cop many times so he would care.

@penquin402 If you people hadn't got in the street someone wouldn't have called the cops and then the cop wouldn't have to be there in the first place. He was doing his job. Stay out of the streets and maybe they can do other stuff.
They teamed up with tom shoes where they do one mile bare foot walks with fans and shoes are donated to kids in africa.
i think the cops were just fans. OR they're so pissed that there wives love Hanson more then they do them. haha

Oh is that what this was all about? I didn't know the cops were actually called out for a Hanson riot....?? Will never forget watching him get lectured by the police though.
Charlotte police were originally called about a "riot"
They didn't inform the city of Charlotte they were going to take a couple hundred people and go walking through the streets.

Ilovebrianlittrell The Charlotte police got a call about a riot… And came out and called Taylor out to the middle of the street. Then they spent the rest of the evening riding around on bicycles watching all of the fans camped out around the venue. I guess expecting us all to go marching around again. Like they didn't have something better to do in a city like Charlotte.
It was one of the very first walks and the city wasn't prepared.

@@Crystalcloudzzthey clearly didn’t notify the cities in those early days that we were going to do it. So they went matching down the sidewalks with hundreds of people & the businesses freaked. This was one of the first walks. They did it before every concert for something like 5+ years.
