About Jackson:
Jackson began back in the late 1970s, when heavy music experienced a flamboyant and virtuosic resurgence in popularity and a small Southern California guitar repair shop became the epicenter of a new level of shred-approved excellence. Ever since then, Jackson guitars have been universally lauded as the metal guitars; the shred machines-highly original high-performance instruments of distinctive style and formidable substance. From metal’s chart-topping peaks to its darkest recesses, for discerning guitarists all over the globe, Jackson is the only way to go.

Ha, his hoodie says "Crew" in the Band's glyphs. I found that cheeky.
I love that. I want them to do more things I glyphs.
i have this creeping feeling they're gonna let go of the mysterious character more and more with time. they're getting bigger, and the new people are finding them at the same time as the information about the members is increasingly easy to come by
😂 WTF.. it's just another gimic band champ..
Well yeah, it can only go on for so long. See Slipknot or any other band that did this sorta thing.
@@Blottski exactly
It gets harder to hide it well after you get so big, and for safety too. there's always a chance someone could take it too far and try to doxx them, harass their family, etc.
@@hobo1704their on stage identities are a gimmick but the band is certainly not a gimmick
I've been so obsessed with this band. Killer Guitars, amazing drums, and one of the most incredible voices I've ever heard. IV makes me want an 8 string
Same, shit. I was getting into 7 and here we are. Fucking 8.
I NEED A 8 STRING NOW ! Too i only have a shechter that suits more clean tones and shouldn't be tuned down much, but i cant wait till i get a guitar that can chugg hahah
Didn't expect to see u here:) glad u love them too
IV is the reason I bought an 8 lol
In some live concert footage I've noticed he's been using a bass VI as well
NO SHOT! Billy was my old guitar teacher in Slough wtf!
God it's so surreal to learn I own the same 8-string as IV.
He also uses the Gretch 30 inch scale which I also have. Pretty cool!
@@Eyeyamgod i have that guitar as well 🎸
Did yous have to make any adjustments to fit a 84/85 string gauge in it?
The Jackson that is, torn between the Jackson and an Ibanez that has the bigger hole for thicker strings
@@michaelgrindy6913idk if you chose one yet or not, but I chose the Ibanez and have loved it.
This might be the most information we’ve ever gotten about Sleep Token 😂
That's actually true.
George Lever Sleep Token AMA has loads of cool shit
Which is pretty crazy.. You can find out who they are if you look, but it's more interesting not to know.
Fact no kap
Look up blacklit canopy lol the lead singer is known
As a guitarist chasing this sound, I'm so glad to finally get some insight to the gear. "Kemper does all the pitching" now it's making sense on how to get that clear low tone.
it's not that hard rly in terms of guitars and simple chuggy riffs if you're into djent and that stuff
Sleep Token is more about the band and how it mixes up. I'm more interested in effects on the solo in The Summoning for example.
@@ostankovalex1176 s,
@@ostankovalex1176 mid/low gain overdrive with chorus and a delay very low in the mix
@@ostankovalex1176it’s very basic. Other than time based effects, the main effect you’re hearing is chorus.
At the end of the song, the sound effect sounds a lot like the EHX Micro Synth, which was remade by jeorge tripps in the form of the Wayhuge Atreides. Since they use kempers, I’m sure they profiled one of those
Indeed, however I've seen IV promoting Neural DSP Quad Cortex recently so I wonder if he switched to that one instead now
That could've been an hour or two longer and I would've loved every moment.
Thank you for this. Need a full rig rundown .
I second this.
I third this.
I fourth this
I 5th & 6th this
It’s likely a kemper triggered by midi sequences for scene switching
The symbols on his hoodie under the ST logo translates to "crew". Amazing, lol.
Yo about time I been waiting for a sleep token rig rundown tbh I love there new album such a vibe
I've been obsessed with this band since 2017, they have grown so much I'm so proud of how far they've come 🖤🖤🖤, worship
I feel like I know IV on a personal level now
I think Sleep Token's moniker is super intriguing and if they ever choose to reveal themselves, we should all be in awe! The secrets their stage techs and crew know is fricken incredible! The signed NDAs must abound and it is truly impressive how everyone around ST keeps the mystery alive! My 21 yo daughter turned me onto them and I'm totally obsessed! She saw them at Louder than Life '23 and I look forward to eventually catching a show with her! Take me back to Eden, Ascensionism, Chokehold, Granite, Aqua Regia.. Extraordinary diverse talent.
I fucking knew they'd released IV's gear in a bit... Jackson the Guitars of Leyends. Hell yeah🤘🏼W.O.R.S.H.I.P
Im a newly obsessed with the band. Awesome to see this from Jackson.
Lets see more of this!
IV is the shit! Great clip. Cheers! \m/
Just think he could be the guitarist and we would never know
hes not, go see them live and Billy is always in the side.
@@d3liriumtrigger88 well thank you for correcting me 😁 WORSHIP
@@rybo0072 No correction just friendly observation. Worship! Just go see them live soon.
Kind of like Tobias Forge dressed up like a nameless ghoul giving interviews back in the day.
I’m so upset that the month before I discovered them they played a show in my town.
Imagine gear gods trying to do a vid with the guitarist and he's just blank expression, no words the entire time
Fantastic band with a fantastic guitar brand!!!🎉
Thank you so much for this, literally opened up my Notes app and wrote down the specs
I had my suspicions sleep token were periphery fans from that riff in ascentionism that kinda sounds like satellites at about the 4 minute mark. The misha strat confirms this.
I assume any Djent band are fans of Periphery
Vessel used to do Periphery covers on piano ;)

SO happy I was already a diehard fan before this new release. I was ready for the best album of the decade
I’m so obsessed with this band that I’m actively watching a guitar tech video, just to grab a pic of the set list so I can make a Spotify playlist later and pretend I’m at the show - and I’m not even sorry 🤷♂️
So cool to see him using mishas signature model live

Sleep token on the come up
I love not knowing anything about them its awesome actually also another artist I love is Teflon Sega don't know anything about him either, expect that he is some metaverse singer and does motion capture of all his MV's.
"Tuned to double drop E" sooooooo .... well damn. I remember the good ol days when it was either guitar teacher standard tuning or the bands you listen to at home which was Drop D.
'The future is now old man'
i think the same
🤟🔥🖤 dope
So my son had a hand in making the Ragnarok pick ups 😊
It´s the band... the sound, the songs, the concept. All is dark an mysterious.. well done. Superb technique...what else? Obviouly the gear is easy to hear. Running all via midi clock, i bet that a Neural cortex is on, maybe a Fractal... But i have my doubts, guitars sound in your face mix, and no one simulator do this. Maybe a full head plus fx with a midi System. who knows...
Worship 🙏🏻
Yes I took a screenshot of the set list
Oh shit!!
SHIIIIIIIKKK🎉🎉🎉🎉
Finally some answers!
Damn i need that sweater 😅
Had a 7string for over 20 years and don’t think I’m musically talented to take on another string. I’ll leave it to bands like this to pioneer it.
You don't even need the extra string there are a few 6 string baritones out there that can go down to drop E like the solar 29 inch scale baritone or anything with a 30 inch scale the only way you would need extra strings is if you do leads so you have the high strings
Pioneer it 😂 it's just to market them to make profit. Plenty of muppets in the comments already buying them.. sheep everywhere
I got a drop pedal for my 7, keeps it in standard tuning but a 5th down with all the tension.
@@naruto199797I love the jazzmaster baritone fender I think stopped making. Those things sound great and can hold really low tunings
@@hobo1704 you must be so fun at parties
OCTOBER ENDSSSSSSS 🤘🎸 please
So stoked to see them endorsed by my favorite guitar brand!
Ibanez > Jackson
@@rajkumarmfsr lol nope. Says the dude in a Jackson video.
@@rajkumarmfsrUnless you're buying a shop model, they're virtually identical. They're both made in south Asia probably even in some of the same factories. Shop level Jackson's are made in the US and Ibanez is in Japan.
nice
Sleep Token remind me when i forget pay electric token bill.
Awesome, I think this is the first time I've seen a band that used a signature guitar of someone else.
Sleep token??
Darn right I’m token’ when I blast Sleep!!!
love my jackson
love my Jackson solo bro 🔥
Some of their songs are on Eb tuning. Do they use a different guitar for that or do they play them one half-step up live?
In the past I was aware most of their stuff was Drop Eb most of the time. Back in 2019 on the Issues tour they were tuned to that, And any songs that were different were pitch shifted from there. This was back when III was using a Warwick primarily, And the former IV was using Ibanez.
Pitch shifting probably as they have even lower tunings on new songs.
Kemper handles the downtuning during the set. Tech mentioned that right after disclosing the actual tuning. So far, they even go to Double Drop B so that processing unit is quite busy.
@@BLeeFAFOformer VI? You mean IV?
Didn't know they had member changes
@@josuastangl7140
Yeah my bad, I was half asleep responding then lol. Yes IV. And yes the current guitarist has been with them since last summer. The previous guitarist joined right at the release of Sundowning in 2019. And the original IV was there from 2017 until that point. The other three boys are obviously unchanged. III has been with them since the release of the Two EP in 17.
The tuning that he highlights for the 8 string won’t be double drop E. The drop tuning here is between the 7 (A1) and 6 (E2) strings, a perfect fifth. The 8 and 7 strings are apart by a perfect fourth, the same as strings 6 and 5. The 7 string should be tuned to B1 and this would give drop tuning over the the lowest three strings.
My thoughts, too, surely double drop E would be EBEBC#GBE?
Oh fuck he plays the forbidden jackson strat (apparently they don't like it when you say that even tho it's true?) live? That's mad tight, excellent choice
but they have songs in Drop A. would the kemper do the pitch shifting?
Hell I've been using double drop E for ages.
😊😊😊😊
Very Sleep Token of them to end the video that abruptly as to not reveal too much. 🤣
Surprised hes using emgs you dont see them much anymore especially with extended range instruments tuned super low these days if people go active its usually fishman or they use passives
Oo😊😊
I typed Dave Ball in my search bar and fell on this video, hum.
🤫
too SHORT of a video, hella cool to see stuff like this.
Need a rig rundown, pls
At this point I'm surprised the techs aren't masked too 😂
I NEED MORE INFORMATION PLZ
So, is this the guy who stopped the show at Wembley and said, "Hey guys, how's it going? So, Vessel can't sing, but you can."
No, it was Sam. Their drum tech
Worship
He’s actually Misha.
Soy ese
Is this tuning actually called double drop E?, can’t seem to find much about it
That's the thing it's a newer tuning. Bands are creating sounds throwing tunings way out of wack. Ever heard ichika into? he does crazy tunings and makes crazy metal or beautiful melodies. once I tried some of the tunings it just brings out different character never thought of for me.
This man casually said double drop e holy shit
I think this guy in the last two albums is different from the guy who did sundowning and earlier work. Definitely when alkaline came out it seemed they switched out guys
From what I've read Vessel does all the studio work with the drummer and that the guitarist and bassist are touring musicians only.
@@redjaredits Drummer and Bassist have been there since day one. The guitarist has changed a couple of times though.
@@digitalmichael For touring yeah, but in the studio it's all vessel and II
@@redjaredits III has been in the studio with them, Though most of the bass gtr was played by George Lever until they switched producers for the new album. Overwhelmingly it's always been Vessel and II. Though III is a permanent member and has been since the Two E.P., His role so far has been very minimal other than live. And yes this is the third IV. I'm hoping he stays as he's a sick guitarist and seems to get on with the others very well.
What are the string gauges? The audio is horrible. Could have at least had a handheld mic.
The runes on his runes means "crew".. cool isn't it?
now that Sleep Token is endorsing Jackson guitars maybe they'll finally invest more into the 8 string guitar designs and hardware
Isn't it drop a with an e below it. Idk about double drop e
Amazing how an 8 string guitar could have EMG 909s in it.....
I’m confused. He says IV’s 8-string is tuned to double Drop E. Yet every accurate sounding tab I’ve seen for The Summoning says it’s tuned to Drop D#. What’s up with that?
According to the tech, IV is tuned to EAEADGBE then uses his kemper to pitch shift down. The lower note in The Summoning is indeed D#.
Well, now we know which guitar is going to start getting snapped up by scalpers
1 month ago
Jeez… bit of a long video guys could you you have trimmed it down slightly 😂😂😂😂😂
Wheres the rest of this?!? I tried to get hold of the tech after the gig when they played in my town but couldn't get his attention
Why do they have 9 string pickups on an 8 string guitar?
For multiscale guitars you sonetimes Need longer pickups Than normal becouse of the angle the pickup sits
what's the Misha tuned to?
E Standard. The 8 strings are Standard as well except the 8th string is tuned down from F# to E. Tech said it was EAEADGBE, But when I looked at their tuning notes on the 2019 U.S. tour it was EBEADGBE, Then pitch shifted a half step down via their Kempers.
@@BLeeFAFOsomewhere there’s a live video of the old IV aka Kubrick going in on a part and he didn’t hit his pitch shifter for the end of Offering up to F lol he was like oh shit!! And ran and hit it. Someone would get fired now if they missed a shift.
I got the running but pitch to whattttt????? How many semitones???
It depends on the song. Many songs are - 1 semi tone (so D#1). But on the last album, some songs go as low as G#0, A0, B0 or C1.
But wHaT aBoUT ThAt BAsS tHo 😬
10-84 is not that heavy for double drop E for my normal 8 string, standard 27 inch. here its probably behaving differently
I thought sleep token used double drop D# hhmmm, learning new things
They are but they probably use pitch shifters live. Some of the new stuff is double drop c and b.
Tech said that Kemper handles it.
@@DeceptiveSS hmmm, the more you know
Shit, they employ real human for their tech team.
man if only you made a lefty model
lol, I had the same problem with meshuggah's ibanez, so I built one for myself in the correct orientation 😆
Ad
What the hell?? Never thought Sleep Token songs could be played on a 6 string! Lol
The tech says its string gauges are 10-52 and it's followed by a clip of the guitarist playing a solo on it, so it's probably in standard tuning.
From what I've seen in live footage, he uses the strat in the funky part of The Summoning, but he's playing at solo in this clip.
1:00 "Kemper does all of the ... for us."
The pitch-shifting? Dunno why that's classified.
Lots of bands do it now.
Sounded like he said pitching lol
The dudes in the background could have been one or more of the members 😪
Cant wait for the guitarist to come to their senses and switches to esp
Given how amazing the Steve Carpenter models are, this might be a good choice.
Frets in ESP are bigger. Feels completely different
@@screwdriver_bandit idk, man. I used to be an ibanez guy but one day I seen a quilted black 8 string and figured I'd give it a try and I really loved it. I did eventually sell it though to fund a strandberg and after playing that for over a year I'm thinking about switching back. Some Jacksons I like but some I definitely dont
Sleep Token has already used ESP LTD EC-1008ET in concert there is photos, Also been seen using Ibanez M80M Meshuggah in photos
