I'm from West Virginia so I'm not directly impacted by this event, but we have some places here STILL recovering from a devastating flood in 2016 because the government didn't do jack to help.
It seems 8 years later, they still don't care about Appalachians. Glad to see a community come together to help the impacted regions.

I concur, life-changing indeed. Just got home from working up there.( Like twenty minutes ago) Met people from Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Colorado, Virginia and we're from Missouri.
The local churches are REALLY shouldering the load. They're in it for the long haul. Everyone I met was a high quality person. It's phenomenal how people are coming together with extraordinary generosity.

I'm in the Piedmont area and it was plenty bad around here, but nothing like what they're going through elsewhere! 8 days without power and internet..... no problem with that when the alternative could have been so much worse!

The government isn't that bad. There are only so many resources even in our government. It has always been ordinary folk keeping the country together.
I am federal government, I am pissed with how the government has been. FEMA has asked other feds like myself to join them and deploy. I will either be helping or ripping into people why help isn't being done. I'm about sick and tired of dealing with the government and it's bs. I've been trying to be the change we all want to see but the system is so slow with so many lazy and corrupt people that the good guys can't win from within it. I've been telling people for years to unite to protect themselves and their communities from all forms of destruction because the government can't do it and in fact they seem to move against providing actual help, just help on paper that makes things worse. I'm proud of the American people. I have worked as part of militias and churches, and that's the only way things ever seem to get done. I see what our taxes are spent on and it's just insanity. The government pisses our money away, never fires useless people, and makes things worse for everyone. No taxation without representation

Thank you hear from Wilmington North Carolina. I appreciate the effort and your time that you’re donating to. I spent a year working on cleanup efforts down in Louisiana after hurricane Katrina. Remember, you’re just one man do what you can and know you are appreciated.
It’s a shame our very own government is incapable of providing aid to our own citizens. I hope this is a wake up call for all of us to sharpen our skill set and not to rely on our government.

In the months ahead, yeah, they could be invaluable if only to make rough-cut lumber so folks can get barns and lean-tos back up!

Good on ya, for getting in there and helping out...after 45 deployments, Bear and Co. have mastered the "organized chaos" of running these ops, preferably without interference from FEMA, who has NEVER helped as much as they've screwed stuff up...after witnessing the cluster frack of Katrina, Bear vowed to never get tied up by the Fed's incompetence again, hence the birth of Grind Stone Ministries....
Am so pleased to see that you folks are cutting firewood for these people. That has actually been in my prayers as winter comes in it will be so needed and I was praying all those fallen trees would be put to good use.
