    Lots of pinks but the estuary at the Indian is closed, I don't know how many feet is the cut off line, if you are not sure just fish off the beach at Cates park.

      Thanks Dre - where is that estuary regulation. We couldn’t find it on the park websites or DFO. Cates is a good call. Have u heard anything from that direction yet this year?

      @Frenzyflies. Год назад

      @@PacificAnglerTVIt must be DFO, some people that I know took their boats up to fish for pinks at the mouth of the Indian river and were told and given a warning that it was closed, hardly any patch of open area anymore and yes there were tons of pinks.

      @@PacificAnglerTV Yes pinks are going by but fishing off the beach there is only good when the tide is low before sunrise, then they move out further,another reason is families start coming to the beach later to suntan or play so hard to cast a fly but gear should be safe and also cast further, they come in waves so it's a hit an miss.

      @@PacificAnglerTV Sorry I don't know the Estuary regulations there.Yes they come in waves so if you are fishing the beach low tide in the morning before the sun hits the water then you have a good chance, once the sun comes up they push out.

    All dfo would have to do is go by either there or fishermans corner at peak salmon season every day they could write tickets all day long and pay for alot more officers

    The Mamquam was referenced a couple of times. But for the sake of clarity, there is no opening for fishing for Pinks in the Mamquam itself. Only on the Squamish river. I still see people on the Mamquam regularly, so let's be careful with that.

    • @PacificAnglerTV
      @PacificAnglerTV  Год назад +1

      Good point. Mouth of Mamquam on squamish is open - Mamquam river Cheakamus and above power lines on squamish above Cheakamus is closed to salmon fishing but not to trout fish.

      @@PacificAnglerTV I do not think this is correct. The Region 2 Regs read as follows: Salmon limits, openings and closures; There is no fishing for salmon in Region 2 except for the opportunities listed in the table below. Under The Squamish, Mamquam and chekamus ALL salmon are listed as opportunities on these rivers, except you cannot use bait and, as per FN0491, you cannot target pinks on the Mamquam or Chekamus.

    • @PacificAnglerTV
      @PacificAnglerTV  Год назад

      @iancollings5047 unfortunately not. In the table they have a very specific area open to Non-retention
      “downstream of power line crossing at 9mile (approximately 1.5 km upstream of confluence with Cheakamus) non retention for pinks.” - if they were to open Cheakamus or Mamquam it would need to be specifically listed. We wish it were not true too but if you are fishing for pinks specifically (or any salmon for that matter) on the Mamquam or Cheakamus you will get a warning or a ticket.

    • @iancollings5047
      @iancollings5047 Год назад

      @@PacificAnglerTV Sorry I should have been clearer. I was referring to your statement that "salmon fishing" was closed on the Mamquam, Cheakamus or above the power lines on the Squamish. It is my understanding that this only applies to pink salmon (as per FN0491) and that all other species are open (as indicated by the statement "ALL" in the table of the Region 2 Regulations), as long as you do not use bait and there is no retention, except for hatchery coho after Sept 15.

    Frustrating trying to figure out the regulations! You and your friends are way more knowledgeable than I am and you’re struggling to figure it out. Rules need to be simplified maybe being able to input area one wants to fish and show everything in simple terms.

    Not enough education with new anglers. Go buy a license and it's open season on anything with gills.
