- Welcome to my 'French sounds under one minute' series! In this video, I'll teach you how to pronounce the French [y] sound, as heard in the word 'salut'. This sound is often confused with [u], as heard in 'bonjour', but with my simple comparison and pronunciation tips, you'll be able to easily distinguish between the two. With the same rounded lip position as [u], but without pulling your tongue back, you'll be able to master the [y] sound in no time. Practice saying words like 'salut' and 'tu', and you'll soon be speaking like a native French speaker. And be sure to check out my channel for more quick and easy French pronunciation tips and song lessons!
If you'd like to speak French with confidence and ease, see some more of my videos and subscribe! In my videos, I explain French pronunciation rules and articulation. I explain the position of the mouth, tongue, and jaw required to produce each French sound. After practicing with me, you'll feel more confident in speaking French. C'est vraiment cela 👌🏾
Paying close attention to how words are
pronounced in French makes it easier to
understand what's being said as words just
fly by in conversation.
Your channel has helped me so much! I find myself mimicking you when I am reading, I read each syllable of each word out loud like you do in your videos, and I can hear such a difference! I can't do it fast, but I know that will come lol
