My lazy self surprised when I see someone who actually puts effort and learn how to do stuff instead of hoping that they're a natural (I don't know that I can learn all of these myself but just couldn't get the courage to move my entire lazy body for 1 second to do something productive) :
Pretty much the only way I see one shots working and being balanced is on melee weapons, because of the concept that is worryingly absent in many players minds, risk vs reward. What is it? It’s simple, for every reward there must be a near equal risk, that is the foundation of balance. Reward can be many things and risk can also be many things. (risk doesn’t just mean how likely you are to die if you fuck up, it can also be time and resource investment as well, that is why characters like mechanic and engineer are balanced in spite of how oppressive their levels 3 buildings are. Because they take forever to setup, if the map is made correctly, but it also takes the enemy forever to set up a senerio that can counter the buildings, where the risk is for both sides is being disrupted mid setup is very punishing and time wasting, with most gamemodes being on a clock you usually can’t afford to waste any time.) with agent their risk is needing to fool up to 12 people and needing the right opportunity to show up for their reward, if anything goes wrong, they die and make their job harder next time they respawn (due to paranoia.), if it goes right they can make some key picks and sabotage fortified areas to let their team breath easier. The risk is somewhat equal to the reward and if they succeed it is usually not the agent’s skill/gamesense that plays a huge part in their success, it’s the enemy’s complacency that plays a huge part in the agent’s success. A team worth their salt can easily make the agents job hell. Another part that balances the agent is that they get worse the more of them that there are instead of better like other classes, the more agents there are running around the more paranoid the enemy team becomes, this curcumvents the common balance pitfalls that most other classes have in most class based shooter games, that is that stacking a certain class makes them a nightmare to deal with for the enemy team. Agent is has a very solid balance foundation despite the many things that could have gone wrong with designing a class around instant kills, her unlocks however are the problem because they throw all of her weaknesses out the fucking window, there are two in particular that I am knowledgeable about and want to go over, the “using your braindead teammates, I have the power of god and anime on my side.” And the dead finger. The if the kunai existed in the perfect world where all teammates pulled their weight no matter what then it would be balanced, we however do no live in said world and thusly have to deal with a godamn chomper in our tc2 game (Context: pvz shooters exist, chomper is a class in all of them, he is spy except tanky instead of sneaky, you can imagine how unbalanced he is in those games.) because your braindead teammates that seemingly have no intention of watching RUclips tutorials anytime in this decade keep feeding the fucking beast, also ping and questionable hitreg criteria but every class in every shooter has problems with those so we don’t need to go over them except for “please devs, optimize your fucking game.” Now for the dead ringer, why did this weapon need to exist, the devs could have just not implemented it into the game and we would be fine with it just like them not implementing a thermal thruster equivalent for arsonist, but now that it’s here we are stuck with that fucking thing for the rest of tc2’s lifespan, it’s a fundamentally flawed unlock that can only be balanced by not existing or being nerfed into the godamn ground. Also there’s marksman I guess, he completely ignores risk vs reward with all but two of his primaries, nether being stock but instead are the over under double barreled shotgun and bow. Yes I heard it a billion times “if the maps were designed with him in mind, nobody would be complaining about him.” Ok, counterpoint, that is only half of the issue, the other half is the fundamental basekit of marksman, it is the most structurally unstable thing I have seen since visiting the slums. There is no redeeming any class in any game like marksman or sniper, ether a full rework of how his basekit functions is called for or flat out removal if nothing else works. That rework I already have something in mind for, remember when I mentioned the pvz shooter games? Yea, despite the many balance fuckups it has, the one area they got right was the snipers (in the first two games, the third one was the game that killed the pvz shooter games for many reasons, including the regression of the sniper characters back towards the shity implementation of tf2’s sniper) I won’t elaborate further unless asked because this comment is already long enough but the basekits of the snipers are the best and most balanced implementations I have seen in any shooter game, that is because I have never seen any other shooter game do something else besides “just copy what tf2/battlefield did, it’s probably fine.” With their snipers before. The point of this very long comment, the agent is the definition of how you implement a one shot mechanic, the marksman is the definition of how exactly you can try really hard to kill off your game’s player base.
One shot mechanics will never be removed, even if the fan base asks for it, they are a part of tf2, and since tc2 is based on tf2, they will never be deleted
as a youtuber and a wannabe TC2 content creator in general i wish i could edit like this or make a video this good, but most of the time i cant even imagine what i would do in editing too or what im going to say to make the vid entertaining, good job bro
I can give you my 2 cents, js create. The more scripts you write, random things you edit the better you’ll get. And with scripts you can get friends to help you. And like this took me ages to edit since when i was doing it i was still relatively inexperienced. It takes time but it’s mostly js slamming your head against a wall over and over again until something acc goes well.
Marksman’s headshot hitbox and Agent’s backstab hitbox is hella goofy. I don’t play agent much but I do play marksman and I hit some insane headshots if I have good ping (sometimes it looks like the shot won’t hit but it does). If you have 200-300 ping well, you’re done for since like you said, the latency between the server and client is pretty bad. Also there are a ton of times where I get backstabbed from an agent 5 studs away from me 😐
Now this is peak content, I hate fighting sniper but spy (ok fine I’ll call it agent) is good enough to fight because when I die to a spy it’s either that the spy was good enough to outmaneuver me or I was too distracted to notice the agent. With marksman it’s just “die from a place you can’t possibly reach” it’s much better in tc2 but it’s still present
Fair enough but if you have really good internet and play on local servers I can average about 30 ping. But I get what you mean, ping in tc2 is kinda goofy sometimes.
Can barely hit a thing with the ping because snipers dot indicator actually is were the middle of the screen is Unlike marksman where when I use it the dot takes like 10 seconds to move a tiny bit Genuinely don’t know what happens but it’s fine
I spend a lot of hours playing engineer, but his now explain why I die to agent like this 3:07 . Good video 👍 P.S. 1:08 What beef do you have with marksman?
people how say marksman is way to unbalanced look at sniper from tf2 he has a dot instead of a laser so its harder to find out were the sniper is aiming oh and marksman's sniper does less damage on no charge and some charge headshots compared to no charge headshots for sniper
@@Solo_riot as a pybro to my fellow engi friends, i cam agree. you gotta learn how to protect nests as fast as you can with airblasting projectiles, killing agents and removing sappers all while you wait for engi to come back to take care of the buildings. its stressful
aren't these mechanics just TF2 mechanics? it's more of valve's problem rather than rolve's (if you can call it a problem). i think that one shot mechanics are reasonably balanced, it just feels unfair to die to them. that's the problem that valve needs to fix, not the existence of them in the first place. please take this criticism to heart, and i don't mean to say the video is bad, in fact it's quite good in my opinion.
Agent are balanced, Marksman sniper are unbalanced, only balanced sniper rifles are: Poacher's pride, Huntsman, Sour shots, other just is not funny to play against
sorry for being 🤓, but I have something to tell. First of all, dead ringer in tc2 just sucks. It's so bad that you can't even abuse it. Secondly, ping doesn't make significant impact on you and sniper. If you hit headshot, no matter what ping you had, server will accept it as headshot. So the only impact ping can make is when you die when you went behind the corner. And another thing that I want to say is that IMO ping doesn't buff agents. Yeah, you can do facestabs. But you can't do anything except for that and stairstab. And because of high ping even facestabs aren't that good because mostly you need trickstabs in situations where you can't use revolver (like ambusing engie's nest). btw video is pretty cool. Keep it up!

I mean, pyro, sorry arsonist is just kind of meh, it takes a lot of skill to be actually effective with arsonist. w+m1 is just meh.
nobody hates pyro unless they're a spy main
