He has never liked Trump from the beginning and didn't vote for him, yet as a conservative he is quite pleased and surprised by all the good the President has done in his first year in office. When Trump does something he doesn't agree with, he will call him out on it (as a lot of other conservatives with good morals do), but I respect Ben particularly because he is not only fair to Trump in his evaluations, but is actually quite supportive of him despite the fact that he clearly doesn't like the guy.

Home Wall Be realistic. Change happens in baby steps, not overnight. You have to be willing to make compromises in politics to get what you want. This is partly why libertarians never win, because they expect the impossible to happen overnight and that’s just too large a leap for most people who aren’t familiar with our principles. I would much rather have Trump in office than Hillary or Bernie, and if we’re going to be honest something tells me the same thing would have happened under Gary Johnson. You have to remember the President is just a President, not a king. Even what I would consider quite within reason for an executive order has been struck down in the courts numerous times. Also the cure for Birtherism was to display the long form birth certificate in a way that could be scruitinized by the doubters, which it took five years for Obama to do. If you really want to talk about a feedback loop, Obama (a black man from Hawaii with a Japanese surname and a foreign parent) crying racist instead of rudely shoving it in the face of the few few people that questioned him is what caused "the birther movement". It took him five years to produce a document that you need to open a bank account or get a drivers license. And after he did the movement died in a reasonable time period. There's crazy on both sides, we all know that, but "the Birther movement" attracted reasonable people because, and only because, Obama refused to prove something that we've all had to prove at one time or another.

m jared Swenson Exactly, everyone forgets the numerous journalism scandals before Trump even took office. Remember the Stephen Glass fiasco? Or the RollingStone disaster that was Sabrina Erdely? And The fake WMD in Iraq was a classic disinformation campaign brilliantly executed through the WSJ and NYT. Journalism had been in a state of decline for years, probably since the internet starting providing serious competition to the traditional news outlets.
Wait a minute. So Trump is responsible for journalist's actions? The last I checked, most journalists meet the legal criteria for competency, making them responsible for their own actions. If anything, this era has proven beyond a doubt the unprofessionalism of the media today. I don't know if they still teach proper journalism in school anymore, but back when I was in school, we learned that you could not run an article without two independent, confirmed sources, or else the story likely could be false. Most stories I see today have buried somewhere deep within the content, "according to an unconfirmed source". We also learned that that which is common and uninteresting is not news, but that which is unusual is. "Dog bites man" is not a story, but "Man bites dog" is. Today, the WaPo, CNN and NYT are just as much the public relations branch of the Democratic party as Fox and NY Post are for the Republican party. In fact, Fox is more likely to attack Trump than the others are to defend him, but only when he doesn't follow the Republican Party line. Do me a favor. Find me one article in the last four years in WaPo, CNN, or NYT that supports or agrees with anything that Trump has ever done. (This doesn't include the token "other voice" articles, where the paper runs an article from a conservative columnist.) Trump must have done _something_ right? A stopped clock is right twice a day, after all. Even if he had only done one thing that they agreed with, that in and of itself would be so newsworthy that all respectable journalism would report it. Instead, WaPo deems headline-newsworthy that Trump boarded Air Force One with a piece of toilet paper stuck to his shoe. The editorial positions at these agencies are intentional -- all-attack, all the time. The fact that many people cannot recognize this demonstrates the gullibility of their confirmation biases.
Think you read into this what you wanted to see. He never said that Trump is responsible for the media's actions. Quite the opposite. He said that the media is responsible for their own actions.

He is an entertaining president though.
Joseph Stalin your people could say the same about you but you ended up killing them of starvation
