It's pretty amazing that Netflix can bankroll at least 5 kdramas for the cost of one Hollywood production and basically all of them are better.
ALL are better because of the determination of both studios and actors (training, talent) that American studios DO NOT HAVE

Gong Yoo is back with an 8 episode drama (and with an excellent female lead), I guess it's better than nothing but it's a shame that so many K dramas are being shortened.
Yes that rlly bothers me that Netflix wants to be so cheap and refuses to do the traditional 16 episode kdramas. 8 eps is not enough and then they rarely give a S2!
i feel like most kdramas cant keep up the suspense and interest for 16 episodes long. most than repeat plots and its getting boring so i actually like around 12ish episodes. 8 might really be a tad too short

10, 12, 16 or 20 eps, as long as the pace isn't too fast (e.g. Bad & Crazy) or too draggy with many unnecessary / recap scenes (e.g. Extraordinary You). I thought All Of Us Are Dead (12 eps), Strangers From Hell (10 eps), and Mr Queen (20 eps) were all well-paced with good story-telling.
@@danielpolivka7012 I don't agree. He is excellent at showing his emotions and in creating chemistry with the female leads. I also find him quite funny when he wants to be. It's a pity for me that he prefers to star in movies of different genres and keeps away from dramas. It's not only about his good looks at all (in fact I admit that the first time I saw him I didn't find him all that attractive either).

Since Yoo Ah-in is currently under investigation on drug charges, it is highly likely that the drama he appeared in will not be released.

Excited to finally see Gong Yoo again in Trunk. Just disappointed it will only be 8 episodes. I don't like netflix shortening more and more kdramas. They then don't complete the story properly and rarely give a S2....or if they do it's like 3 years later. I'd like if they'd follow traditional kdrama with 16 eps.

After scroll out the webtoon, I decide not to watch season 2, because I know she will break out with her boyfriend again and I feel it really waste my time to watch it. But I wait for season 3 because it seems that she will marry her boyfriend
This is an exemptional list. I can't pick one over others. But Bravo to the one who push through with the drama with Yoo Ah In.. He deserve a second chance people and i am here to give my support to this talented guy.

Does Netflix kill the quality of our beloved korean series? All their series have only 8 episodes - I fear for the excellent korean screenwriters / storytellers… 😟
I've worried about studios like Disney (not known for representing authenticity) and Netflix dilduting or Western-izing the real Korean story to be told.
Not all Korean Netflix series are 8 episodes, there are many shows that still do 16 episodes The Glory, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and Behind Your Touch all have full seasons to them.

@@toodie535. They have already done a lot of diluting and westernisng. It is really taking the flavour out of the stories.
We are hoping that (in order to KEEP our interest) that the obsession with the "perfect Korean human form" doesn't get tedious and samey. After all, variety is the spice of life. Very often an interesting and challenging personality is much more interesting AND important than giving "good face" some of the VERY BEST actors in the world have something different, *visually and characteristically* that gives a movie that something very special making it a real winner.
Waiting for Vagabond season 2, Kingdom season 3 or 2nd film and Yumi Cell 3.
So many talented actors that I'm really looking forward to seeing again!

Lots of drama's coming since I am more the romance and on comedy side, I maybe skipping half of these. Maybe I will get to watch some that I wanted to watch this year that I didn't :)

I am quite disappointed that I am seeing the same issues with western shows popping up in the Korean ones. Back in the days we would always get around 23 episodes per show for the year. Now we are only getting around 10. Seeing most of these shows coming out are 8, 10 even 6 episodes is so disappointing.

why netflix & co do mahjority of all dramas? Its really dissappointing to see their influence growing in k-drama industry. They feel like parasite which suck out life from any good film makers

@@lorineakoth834 there are many free streaming providers like Viki, Kocowa and AsianCrush. And they are available from any country in the world, so I don't really see availability issue. If we continue to support monopolist like Netflix, one day they will control us how they want, because no competition will be there.

I absolutely hate that Netlix getting into kdrama production has significantly messed up how they're released in terms of their airing with these nonsense gaps in between the airing of episodes (so they can call it multi-season), but also shortening the overall length of dramas. We used to get a solid 16 -20 episodes for a drama and it aired continuously. Now you're lucky if you get 12.

I'm not particularly a fan of the new shorter format dramas. I feel like since netflix started got on the kdrama bandwagon, they're doing shorter series to maximize the number of dramas to produce.

How can a season two of Gyeongseong Creature be announced (Netflix) if season one isn’t available? at least for me it isn’t. Anyway I’m looking forward to Plaza Wars, The Trauma Code Heroes On Call and Squid Game season 2.
