    hi, thanks for all these great videos!! they are really helpful... i was just wondering why you put wax paper at the bottom of the pans, and when you stack the tiers, do you put a cake board under each tier or do you put the cakes straight onto each other?

      Sarah. I apologize for never seeing this and getting back to you. 8 years wow. I do use cardboard in between each cake when stacking them. The wax paper gives more assurance that your cakes won't stick. You can get away with just shortening and flour dusting for the most part. But this just makes it a little easier to get them out with out leaving some behind in the pans.

    Hey, just wondering, does putting it in the freezer help apply the icing?

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  5 лет назад +1

      It can yes. When the cakes are cold the crumbs are less likely to end up in the frosting. The cakes are firm so you can move them around easily and they won't fall apart. However the buttercream will harden quickly ona frozen or very cold cake. You have to be fast before the icing sets.

      @@CakesWithLorelie What about if I were to make a whipped cream icing?

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  5 лет назад +1

      @@LemonflavoredMandeh Yes it would help a ;lot with whipped cream. The cold cakes will also help to keep the cream fresher and a little firmer

    Put the cake in the freezer?

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  5 лет назад +1

      Yes Dee. I use the freezer as a way to get the cakes nice and cold so that they are easier to work. It also keeps them fresher. .

    This is not the first video that used a knife. There’s gotta be another way. Maybe a thin silicone spatula? I don’t like scratching the pans with a knife. That’s not good.

    Warning: you should never use wax paper when cooking/baking. The wax will melt and enter the food. Parchment paper is the correct thing to use.

      Never had any issues using the waxed paper. Also have never noticed any wax getting on the cakes. But parchment paper is a great choice for lining pans as well. I do both 😀
