You are so right. No muscle has a brain, so when people say "muscle memory", or "confuse the muscle". How can it get confused or memorise something with no brain.
Muscle memory is backed by science. When you grow muscles you 1. Make muscle cells bigger which takes less time, 2. Grow more muscle cells which takes longer, 3. Increase bone density which takes a really long time. When you get new muscle cells they can grow small if you don’t use them, but it’s easier to get them back bc they’re still there from when you made more of them
