You did it wrong, I mean is way more effective if the cooler is mounted with the side that tha fans are getting the cold air from the (front of PC) from those fans, and then dirrectly trowing hot air out in the rear of PC. just turn 90º that cooler, you have to change also the brackets for it.
I ultimately ended up turning the brackets and cooler as you described. Not because of the reasons you mentioned but because I was not otherwise able to install the RAM. Thanks for the feedback though, and good catch!
