- Body camera footage shows a wild shootout between Albuquerque police and an alleged mentally ill man on May 10. Officers were called after someone heard six gunshots and later engaged in gunfire with the suspect later identified as 33-year-old Kevin Trujillo. He ran from the scene after getting shot and hid inside his mother’s home. The Law&Crime Network’s Sierra Gillespie breaks down the footage minute-by-minute and explains how officers ended up apprehending him.

New Mexico getting that Breaking Bad energy
Well, it is considered the 2nd most dangerous state in the US from what I saw.
The cop was about to try a blind fire there for a split second 😅
He forgot he wasn’t in CoD
Lol caught himself aha holding the gun sideways half the time😊
I always wonder where the stray bullets end up. Like some dude eating dinner and a bullet comes through and blows up his microwave or something lol
It happens. People get hit too.. But mostly they go into walls or the ground or something and that takes most of the force out of them.
They hit walls , cars , and unfortunately innocent people and children... Especially in Burque....Very sad
That was a really good sergeant!
Will you stop talking and let us watch the video 🤣
When you Point your gun at officers, you forfeit your life then & there, by no circumstances should anyone attempt to defend such careless and Reckless Acts. The cops and SWAT team did an excellent job removing the threat off the streets.
Did they remove the threat? He went to jail, its only a matter of time until he gets out.

Thank you Albuquerque police for all the service you do to keep people safe!!! I keep you all in my Thoughts and Prayers I go to Sunday Mass at a Catholic Church!!!
Thanks for keep the channel objective ❤
Except they glossed over the fact the Officer shot 3 times as the guy's back was turned at the beginning of the interaction. It'd be nice to get some clarification what happened there... Look you shoot at officers your probably gonna get shot, deservedly so... But objective isn't what I'd call this reporting.
@@austinarnold1770Actually according to multiple local news outlets he had one gunshot wound in his back, which he received after trying to ambush cops in the alleyway he fired five times, officers returned fire with a total of three shots, with one hitting him, which was non life threatening. A little ironic to be calling a channel not objective when your creating your own narrative in a comment section. He should be happy he’s alive to tell the tale, most are not. Common knowledge is if you point or fire a weapon at anyone don’t be surprised they return the favor. You don’t turn your back in a fight, why turn your back in a shootout. What’s interesting is how someone suffering from schizophrenia was allowed to own a weapon or got his hands on one.
@@austinarnold1770 He pulled a gun (I guess you missed that part when she explained it), so the cop shot at him. It is at 1:25.

I never knew the feds had shot spotters bruh…that’s crazy
Too bad feds spend more time creating criminals than catching them.
We have them in denver too
They are trained to kill us. The government hides a lot more than that.

Turn your weapon light OFF!
That officer is just signaling to the shooter where he is with a bright light...not smart.
I feel like mini drones would be helpful in this scenario to track the shooter and maybe even distract him from above. I think the technology is there.
His own mother doesn't want him
Got in a gunfight and was able to come home. Solid win in my book.
"Homeless and schizophrenic" Not a good combination.
All these officers so freakin' brave!! Walking straight in like it's just anither day at work...which it sadly is.
Bless each of them and thise they love. 💙👮♂️
Why does it look like the officer fired two rounds while the suspect was running away, before they even knew he had a gun? Then the anchor says the suspect fired five rounds before the officers returned fire. That's not at all what the video shows..
yup. dont understand this. if they shot at me while my back was to them i would have returned fire as well, dont think this video make the police look good at all
He pulled a gun so he shot at him.
I thought the same thing. Not saying if they knew he was a felon, but they can use lethal force against any felon attempting to flea.
@@taxedpack Tennessee VS Garner:

During my recent observation, I couldn't help but notice an officer who, regrettably, carried their firearm in a sideways position. This particular stance is widely regarded as a detrimental habit within law enforcement circles. One of the key issues with this positioning is the significant decrease in target acquisition speed, making it challenging to react promptly in critical situations. Furthermore, I couldn't help but notice that the same officer appeared to be engaged in long-range shooting exercises. While engaging distant targets can be necessary, it becomes problematic when accuracy is compromised and misses occur. In such cases, it's vital to consider the trajectory of the stray bullet, as it continues its path, potentially posing unintended risks to bystanders or property. Another observation I made involved an officer running with their firearm extended straight out in the ready-to-fire position, which is generally discouraged as a best practice. When in motion, it is recommended that the weapon be held in an upright position, with the arms slightly bent toward the shoulder. Adhering to this stance promotes better control and stability while reducing the likelihood of accidents. Drawing from my experience as a former Navy weapons instructor, I feel compelled to express my concern and advocate for the implementation of a comprehensive training course for the police force under the guidance of the Chief of Police. Such an initiative would not only enhance the officers' overall effectiveness but also prioritize their safety in the line of duty.
its very important for cops to have very low accuracy , killing should not happen at the hands of cops.
@@imposter8418
Ah yes, it should be reserved for criminals exclusively.
@@imposter8418maybe you are missing a chromosome?
Yeah when they were running back to regroup at the officer suv and do wet checks I noticed the guy had his gun down most the time while running, I did think it was weird, but realized it's probably because he's not running point. He was most likely not wanting to risk hitting his partner and it maybe its a protocol their unit encourages, i wouldnt know every departmentis different. I'm sure if they did anything not up to standard they'll be told since the cop discharged his weapon which means he'll be in review till its cleared by the department that he was in the right to discharge his weapon.
Abq N.M. has some ( not all ) law enforcement personnel who live for this sort of thing.
Um. That's the street behind my house. I was there for that. I heard those shots.
I have been wondering if this would ever show up in my RUclips feed

Too bad he surrendered before SWAT got to have their fun.

that blue stuff being moving mad in albuquerque. Making people act up
gesh, this habit of holding their weapons to the side has got to stop. Human beings (most) are taller than they are wide, which means your probability of a hit is better shotting with a vertical recoil, not side-to-side recoil!!!
Is it a deliberate lie to say that the suspect fired at the officer and neglect to comment on the fact that it was the officer who drew his gun and shot at the suspect first? Because what the bodycam shows and the narrative of the video do not match!
Am i the only one who saw the cop shoot at him first. Like no where did i see the guy point a weapon, lol. Even if your there on a Shot spot call, does not mean you automatically shoot your suspect on sight lol.
dude same he shot at his back like wtf
He pointed a weapon. It's not a contest or a duel at 20 paces. He doesn't have to fire first.
@@southmark mark, can you point out the exact time stamp in the video? im trying to slow it down so i can see it....
The guy pulled a gun so he shot at him.
Its covered by the PO's arm but he does pull out a gun because no cop in their right mind would start chasing down a suspect just to shoot at them. The cops reaction on how quick he grabbed his gun says it all.
Good training video for later on in academies around the country. There’s some bad tactics taken and some good things done.

Every squad car needs to be fitted with an AR15 and a partial ballistic shield.
That area of Albuquerque was known as the 'war zone' for decades. The genius liberals in charge named it the 'international district'. I lived in a single bedroom, 1963 trailer, on Central and General Chennault between 1994 and 2003. That part of town is way worse than it has ever been.
It is such a blessing to get off work and come home to a safe place

It’s the criminals fault.

Imagine living in the US where guns are such a problem you put in special microphones in your city to detect gunfire. WOW.
At least we don't have to beg foreign countries for help every time Russia throws balls of paper
Imagine living in the US where nearly 90% of homicides are committed by criminals in illegal possession yet instead of keeping these repeat offenders locked up, people wanna solve the problem by disarming their prey...
This dude is loose cannon, but whats worse is they way APD younger officers are not able to shoot their targets and when they do its the wrong way of handling it.... Chief Medina should be up and out and maybe it woukd change..

That's one way of curing homelessness. Luckily, he lives in a country that promotes guns for protection. Good thing he didn't use an AR15 for protection.
If you’re a criminal it doesn’t matter how many laws are passed. They are still gunna get their hands on guns. So why deprive law abiding citizens from protection while criminals to get their hands on whatever they want
