      Same. I also reached for the Leica Q and the M8. I sold the M8, Kept the Q....BUT.....as much as I love the Q, the X100V truly is the best camera for most people out there, the fact that it can fit in your pocket and is still fun to use , oh with a flash! really hard to beat.

    I found God in the X100 series and 35mm Summicron ASPH v1. Such a thorough overview over the greatest value in photography, man. I really had no idea about the digital zoom looking THAT good. I'm so impressed.

    This has been my favorite camera to pick up every day and go shooting with out of any camera system. I have only felt this way about my Olympus Pen F (also an amazing little micro four thirds). I always want to hold the x100v and it is by my side 80% of the day. I'm in love and I just got it less than a month ago. That is how a camera should make you feel. That's what makes photography fun and in essence will make you a better photographer because you will take more pictures. Everything you said is 100% accurate.

    The video on the x100v is also surprisingly good, even handheld in low light the auto focus is decent enough and the wide lens isn’t too shaky. Glad to hear your thoughts on the WCL/TCL lenses, may end up buying them if I can find them used

    Jup totally agree with you. Best camera ever. Also love how well it is laid out. Everything can be controlled with one hand. Only have three minor complaints.
    One is the door for the usb port etc. I don't get, why they made the little corner you grab to open it stick outwards. Always pokes into my hand a bit. Would have been way better if the used a door like the SD card door on the x-t bodies. Q button colud use some more profile to it so you can push it better. And (and that one is a personal one) I'd much prefer it if the would inverse the direction of the iso dial. I get, they synced iso and shutter to go up (in number) in the same direction. For me it would have been a+ perfect if they had gone for effect in the same direction. Like turn this way to increase light. Turn that way to decrease. The way they have it it is contradicting for the shutter and iso dial and I often turn the iso the wrong way because I'm used to the shutter dial going one way.
    But those are actually minor gripes. I freaking love this thing so much.

    Awesome video. I sold mine but will probably get one in the near future. Fuji is addicting. That why I kept one of my xt4's and all the good lenses 23,35,56,90,40-150,200mm I can't seem to sell it. Even though I have it up for sale I keep second guessing myself.

  • @Leondrian

    That's a super accurate description of the X100V! I wasn't to fond of the 35mm equivalent either! But now I'm almost opposed with it. Also got the WCL because I do love the 28mm. I used the digital teleconversion on that, which also gives you two extra "lenses". One is a 41mm and the other I can't remember..to tired after a night shift. Though I'm tired as f**king the V hangs around my neck, and will hopefully help me catch a nice scene in my way home from work via trams and buses. I agree with you whole heartedly. After 8 months of use, exclusively for 4 months, I can say that that camera made me grow fast and I still have a lot of features to still put into use.
    One minor issue I found with the ND-filter as that it really can throw of the AWB when you get the sun directly into the lens. Haven't seen that with the ND off. Same results with the native lens and with the WCL. Small adjustment to the angle and the very blue tint and flare vanishes. Just thought that it's the AWB that's get confused and haven't had the time to test out if it could be fixed if you set it to daylight or a set Kelvin yet. Would love to hear if you've experienced the same issue and what work arounds you have.
    Thanks again for all great videos
    /Robert

    First off. Good video. Thank you for sharing. If you know how to use it right. The X100F still capable of producing amazing images blah blah blah about the soft Lens to me it adds to the charm of the camera . It’s not a deal breaker. Photography is to capture life as it unfold not a porcelain doll. . About weather sealing in camera I call that BS. There’s no such a thing. Is all a marketing strategy to get you to pay more money. I had my X100F wet a take the battery and card out that’s is is all good. I do have a hood with a filter. On it Get an F you won’t regret it. Let photography be what’s suppose to be. I have an X100V and love it. However it is NOT a wildlife camera. In fact it's not really suited to quite a few things really.
    What it is is a modern equivalent to the film camera your parents had, back in the 60s and 70s. Those beautiful 35mm German cameras. A fixed lens and a brown leather case.
    They are "Documentary" cameras, be that Street photography, family life, and general "snaps".
    The X100V is just about the perfect evolution of such cameras and I waited for 5 versions before I thought they'd nailed it.
    If I could wish for just 1 thing more it would be image stabilisation but it's a very easy camera to hold still.
    I wouldn't class it as a portrait or wedding camera, because most people expect a different aesthetic than a 35mm perspective. It would make a good 2nd camera for a wedding though. Have an assistant use it to capture the event, rather than the main couple.
    Basically it's good at what most people buy it for. Documenting life and including some environment as context.

    @tomrichardson2833 2 года назад +1

    The Q2 is just a better stills camera and anyone who has used both would agree… better/bigger sensor, better lens, better colours, weather sealing etc etc.
    Whether it’s better value for money is a different matter. You could probably get 3 100v for one Q2 and while the Leica is better it’s certainly not 3x better. It all just comes down to money and what you can afford, both great cameras but if you’ve got the cash go with the Q2.

    • @DeeRosa
      @DeeRosa  2 года назад +1

      Better colors? Nah. Colors are subjective and Leica colors are ugly. Weather sealing? It still gets dust in it? Bigger sensor? Yeah but unless you’re a talentless hack that doesn’t hold you back. Better lens? 100%! But the Leica Q2 still have a Bayer sensor and Bayer sensors suck in low light and artifacting which the Q2 suffers from. Grain pattern is crap and “scan” lining is pathetic for a camera that cost so much. As someone who has used one and owned a Q let me just tell you that your opinion is just an opinion, not a fact and that’s okay. But as someone who can afford both it sucks having a camera that is hindered in low light and shadows.

    • @tomrichardson2833
      @tomrichardson2833 2 года назад

      @@DeeRosa 100v is a great camera no doubt about it, I ended up keeping the 100f instead of upgrading. I also own a Q2 and the files out of it are just better by quite a bit, not sure what else I can tell you? We are talking about the Q2 here not the original version.
      You could perhaps check out the numerous comparison videos on here which all conclude the image quality from the Q2 is better. Your video contains no such evidence.

    • @DeeRosa
      @DeeRosa  2 года назад +3

      I can reference my own Q2 files if necessary and that is what I reference. If by better you mean more resolution - I suppose for you it is better! But since I don’t really crop in on images much and the largest print I made this year was a 24x36 from my X-Pro 3 I know that 26MP works for me and looks amazing. I also know that if I’m going to spend money on a high resolution camera I’d prefer fujifilms GFX lineup which can be had for less which I’ve loved using so far.
      If you’re talking about lens sharpness and quality yeah the Q2 has a better lens. But on Instagram or when I give it to a client to they care or notice? No they don’t.
      If you’re talking colors - no, I actually don’t like Leicas over-saturated color scheme. It looks like a Samsung phones images. But I can match any Fuji image to my Leica images. It isn’t hard anymore.
      Again, everything you may like is very subjective and the assumption that I DONT know what I’m talking about just because I don’t have the same conclusion isn’t true. I have files from a lot of Leica cameras: SL, Q, Q2, M10, 262 and I’ve even had a friend share his M8 v X-Pro 1 images to me once as a reference guide. I just think the X100V is better than the Leica Q2 and that doesn’t mean your purchase wasn’t a sound one. It just means that my opinion of the Q2 and it’s subpar sensor quality is different than yours.

    • @tomrichardson2833
      @tomrichardson2833 2 года назад

      @@DeeRosa respect your opinion of course but we’ll have to agree to disagree here. The fuji is certainly better value for money but it ain’t a better camera period.
      It’s also definitely not all singing and dancing as you make it out to be. Very good everyday 35mm carry/compact point and shoot but you’re not going to see photographers using these on the sidelines of the Olympics, in bird hides for wildlife or on tripods for serious landscape etc etc. The Q2 isn’t even my favourite top 3 cameras I own to be honest so it’s not even a pride thing. You’re right about the GFX I own the 50R and that’s also a better camera than the 100v

    • @DeeRosa
      @DeeRosa  2 года назад +1

      I think the 50R is a better camera than the Q2 and the M lineup. Digital medium format just gives you so much more for certain uses than a small sensor like FF or APSC. True. I won’t be using the X100V for that all the time but the fact that I DID is still a big point. However the same can be said for your Q2. I made this point at the beginning of my video also - a lot of people wouldn’t use any Leica cameras, or Fujifilm, or Panasonic, etc due to the slower frame burst. So again, it’s all opinion.
