  • In this video, I filmed the process in which I go through to catch Mojarra fish for bait when fishing Mangrove Snappers around the Tampa Bay area and the surrounding areas including Fort De Soto, Skyway, John's Pass, Pass-a-Grille, St. Pete Beach, Dunedin and Clearwater. I used chum, a bread and clams mix, to get the Mojarra to congregate to get a better resolve. Mojarra fish as bait will also work for a variety of other fish including, Speckled Trouts, Redfish, Flounders, and Snooks. It is an excellent bait to use for most inshore fishing!

Thanks. I never knew about chumming for them. I catch a lot at the beach but have never tried them.

I use the triple load technique. But I'll film it the next time my wife and I go fishing. It's difficult to film it by myself. Thanks for watching!

Thank you very much for your help and video!! Could I ask what company aerator and bucket that was ? It looked great ! Also is 8ft net good what size mesh do u recommend I'm just learning

My bait bucket is made by Bait lagoon. It's still being sold at walmart here. The aerator is by marine metal products dual pumps model. I think this is discontinued. I use an 8ft net with 3/8" mesh. It's a bit heavy after about 7 casts. 3/8" mesh net will catch you the baits! Im glad you enjoyed the video and thanks watching! If you have more questions, just ask! 😀

Beaches are the best place to find them. Beaches next to flats are also good. Good luck 👍

I have white tuna canned wonder if that works well as clamp

I believe they eat crustacean, canned tuna may attract pinfish. But if that is what you have, try it. Pinfish bait works pretty well for Mangrove Snappers as well!
