Fort De Soto Park | Fishing & Wade Crabbing | South Florida Saltwater Fishing
In this video, my wife and I visited Skyway area and Fort De Soto Park for some fishing adventures. We ended doing more crabbing than fishing because my wife spotted a Blue Crab crawling out from the grass while sitting. We caught quite a few Blue Crabs there at the park and completely abandoned fishing. I hope you enjoy it!

We still use lead for fishing in Florida.

@@TampaBaySaltwaterFishingright now New Hampshire . Grew up between Maine and Vermont where it’s illegal. Maine it is but isn’t . Some weird laws surrounding it between paint & weight so we just didn’t use lead.

What kind of hooks do you use ?
I believe it was Eagle claws 1/0 2x long. You'll find them at walmart.
You need to bend the shank a bit to make it fit the mold.
@@TampaBaySaltwaterFishing thanks , my mold is weird, I have to turn the eye of the hooks also , do you also have to do that? What mold do you have ?
Also , what kind a paint do you use ? I've been using powder paint .
@Fishdreamcharters I use acrylic spray paint from walmart. I find it easier than powder paint but it takes longer to dry compared to powder paint, usually a day or 2 before ready to use.

It's Tom Stuart Causeway. You won't find snappers there this time of the year, still a bit cold. It's better to go to Fort Desoto where the water is warmer. Good luck!

Weirdly, 1/8 oz and smaller jigs of that same style are some of my favorite ice fishing jigs for walleye, large perch, and crappie.
These style of jig catches all kinds of fish in saltwater. I'm surprised it works for freshwater fish as well! Thanks for sharing!

Both sides produce fish. But the south side is better in my opinion.

I'm glad you found it useful. You'll find mangrove snappers at pretty every bridge around tampa bay with good tidal flow. The trick is getting them to bite. The right bait is the key! Good luck!
