There is something about the mild level of scuffness in the broadcast where you check if you're recording and the absolute insight into the world of weighting that makes these the best content to watch. Seriously funny banter.
29:33 "why do people love squat jerks so much"? Because it's symmetric, there's depth (for same reason that atg squats are way more aesthetic than quarter squats)
in seriousness though, they all grow up training split jerk. Only the ones who are limited by their jerk turn to squat/power. Some lifters like Chen Lijun and Li Fabin (who probably has the best jerk out of the top Chinese lifters) stick with the split.
34:30 Shershukov was coach for the youth team of the Soviet Union and head coach of Belarus when the Union dissolved. Almost 30 years including 6 Olympics with medalists at 4 of them. Aside from Mykhailo Matsiokha from Ukraine, I'm struggling to think of any other coaches now with that much experience.
I’d just like to highlight, as a former international showjumper, that that is what you’d call condition on a horse. However, complimenting Lu’s confirmation is also accurate as he has perfect proportions for his weight class.
@@xdavidliu why though? He's been competing in more international events than he could count and suddenly he's faking injuries like some dumb football player
I think the squat jerk is so popular because some percentage of people who get into weightlifting find out about the sport from watching RUclips videos of Lu and Pyrros Dimas. It's kind of like how in boxing the Philly Shell, as used by Floyd Mayweather, is pretty popular among hobbyists but relatively rare in actual competition.
To answer your question about dictatorships loving weightlifting, there are two main reasons: 1) Strength: Portraying your nations as powerful and masculine; displaying to the world your ability to overcome and to your own people the strength of the state overall. 2) Investment return: Weightlifiting represents a rather cheap way of securing as many medals as possible for the least amount of investment due to weightclasses. Same goes for sports such as Judo which is also popular in dictatorships. You need one large weightlfiting hall, a couple of coaches, and an endless supply of young people. Add in the ability to dope them to the gills and engineer a coverup and "Hey, presto!" you have glory for the Father/Motherland.
Lyu faking it or not, its fucking impressive to lay on the ground for 20 minutes with ice box on his back to get up, totally cold and somehow manage to make 14 kilo increased lift.
For an older one, 1987 World Championships +110kg Krastev 216kg Snatch Taranenko 265.5kg Jerk Kurlovich 266kg Jerk Weightlifting news agent channel has the video.

First time watching your channel. I liked it.., just a little suggestion, use a compressor for your audio levels, that way we don't have to volume up or down when you get loud. Other than that, cool concept.
Why do I love squat jerks? Dunno, it honestly just looks cool. And personally, Idc about results bc weightlifting is the 4th priority of the sports I do, so I'll just do what is fun to me. I also used to have a better power jerk than split jerk, a long time ago. As for Lu, he's given interviews on it. He does it bc he is much better at it, that's really it. Sure, less margin for error and more misses but if you can go home with 20 kilos more in the total or so, every other year, you'll do it.
What benefit would there be to faking a back injury, plus it was shown that he was lying down with ice on his back majority of the time during his rest. This would be a disadvantage to the Lyu so what you are saying makes zero sense, it just sounds like you are hating on him for no reason. In addition, Li caught the bar of centre obviously he would be a bit sore after caring a 200kg+ bar that he of centred.
